How to Open the MxS Gold Room in Order of the Sinking Star

The MxS gold room lies where The Mirror Isles and Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes connect. Unlocking it opens the southeast part of the overworld, including the Mirrors and Stones area. To reach it, take one gold stone from Skipping Stones through several water channels in The Mirror Isles, then submerge it beside a gold mirror. The mirror will let you reach the platform.

Quick answer: Push the gold skipping stone from the second screen of Skipping Stones into The Mirror Isles, submerge it beside the gold mirror in the southwest corner, use that mirror to board the platform, then solve the orange-and-teal puzzle inside.

What you need before you start

This room depends on progress in two separate worlds. You cannot approach it from a single direction.

Reach the second screen of Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes, the south world.
Reach the gold mirror in the southwest corner of The Mirror Isles, the east world.

Directions in the moves below follow a fixed rule. A plain direction such as “move left” means one square. A direction with a number such as “x3” means that many squares. “All the way” means keep going until a barrier stops you.

Send the gold stone into The Mirror Isles

On screen two of Skipping Stones, take the lily pad across to the gold skipping stone positioned on the right.

Push that gold stone down, then right. This pushes it off the edge of Skipping Stones and drops it onto a path inside The Mirror Isles, where you will pick it up again.

Route and submerge the gold stone in The Mirror Isles

First, reach the gold mirror at the southwest corner of The Mirror Isles. Teleport from it to the landmass below and follow the path, which goes directly to the gold stone you moved over. From there, guide the stone through several channels until you return to the mirror’s screen.

Push the stone down to the end of the path, then push it down again across the two-square gap.

Move the stone to the right, then push it upward until the path ends. Send it north over the water to place it in a different spot on the previous screen.

Send the stone right over the water. Next, push it down, then north to the path’s end, and north over the water onto the gold mirror’s screen.

Send the stone east across the water and submerge it beside the grey rock, on the rock’s left.

Once the stone is underwater, teleport with the gold mirror to the landmass on its right and go as far right as possible. Use the mirror again from there to arrive atop the submerged rock. This opens the entrance to the MxS gold room.

Solve the MxS gold room puzzle

Inside, you control two characters, orange and teal, and you time mirror triggers against the water currents that carry teal around the room.

Control orange and push the mirror down x2, right x5. Trigger the mirror as teal passes it in the right current to send her to the bottom landmass.

Orange should move the mirror down twice, right twice, down once, and right once.

Guide teal down the mirror’s column to the bottom. Activate the mirror just as it teleports her onto the lily pad on the right.

As teal, push the skipping stone downward, then shove it left over the water until it reaches orange’s landmass. Move teal onto the lily pad.

As orange, push the skipping stone down x2. Then move it right across the water while teal is in the bottom current; this sends her down to the current circling the second skipping stone.

As orange, shove the mirror into the water immediately to the right of the top teleporter.

As teal, move the second skipping stone left, then up onto the landmass where orange is.

As orange, push the skipping stone over the submerged mirror. The resulting path reaches the top teleporter and finishes the puzzle.

How you know the room is open

Finishing the puzzle unlocks a mirror to the left of the gold platform. Use that mirror to drop onto the lily pad below the platform, which opens the route into the Mirrors and Stones area. If that mirror has appeared and you can ride it down, the MxS gold room is fully open and the southeast corner of the overworld is yours to explore.
