Most vaults in Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 3 demand a key or a Legendary keycard that only drops at random from chests. The hidden vault at Cluster Coast is the exception. It is opened by solving a short environmental puzzle, so you can walk away with high-rarity loot and Sprites without ever relying on the random key gods.
Quick answer: Grab the sunglasses-wearing rubber duck from one of the small outdoor pools at Cluster Coast, carry it into the nearby building, and place it in the display case behind the door to the left of the giant Cluster poster. The floor drops like an elevator and lowers you into the vault.

The whole sequence happens inside Cluster Coast, so land there directly to save time. No gold, key, or keycard is required at any point.

You will know it worked the moment the platform under the display case starts to descend. There is no door to break or key prompt to wait on. When the platform stops, you are already inside the loot room and free to clear the chests.
Inside, you have a strong chance of pulling high-rarity Sprites to round out your build, along with chests that can hold high-tier weapons. If you grab a powerful gun down there, it is worth carrying into a boss fight against the season’s targets.

Secret vault vs. the keycard Sprite Vaults
It is easy to mix up the hidden Cluster Coast bunker with the large Sprite Vaults, since both are aimed at players chasing Sprites. The key difference is access. The Cluster Coast vault is a free puzzle, while the Sprite Vaults stay locked behind a Legendary keycard.
| Vault | How to open | Notable contents |
|---|---|---|
| Secret Cluster Coast vault | Rubber duck puzzle (no key) | High-rarity Sprites and chest loot |
| Frosted Flats Sprite Vault | Epic Vault Keycard (underground, east side beneath the FrosDeez parlor) | Guaranteed Rare Chest, Slurp Barrels, three Sprite Chests |
| Sinister Strip Sprite Vault | Epic Vault Keycard (underground beneath The Shape) | Guaranteed Rare Chest, Slurp Barrels, three Sprite Chests |
For the two Sprite Vaults, the Epic Vault Keycard is dropped completely at random from chests, with Rare Chests giving the best odds. Once you hold a keycard, the nearest Sprite Vault is marked on your map. If you pick one up and no vault appears, both have already been opened that match, so you can drop the keycard.
Why the puzzle sometimes fails
If the floor will not drop, the cause is almost always the wrong duck or the wrong location. Keep these checks in mind before you give up:
- You need the specific duck wearing sunglasses, not a plain duck from the pool.
- The display case must be the one behind the door to the left of the giant Cluster poster.
- The duck has to be placed inside the case, not simply carried near it.
Because this vault skips the random-key grind entirely, it is one of the most reliable ways to farm Sprites at Cluster Coast. Plan a safe landing, solve the puzzle early, and clear the loot before the storm pushes other players onto you.
