Notifications really help us keep track of all important activities and updates across apps and take action upon the information delivered to us, if and when needed. In Windows 11, along with the regular notifications, you will also receive ‘Suggested’ notifications.

The purpose of the said notifications is to inform and apprise you in regards to how to use your Windows computer better and with more efficiency. Though a very helpful and thoughtful gesture by Microsoft for the newly onboarded users, however, a simple distraction and potentially an irritating notification to a relatively more seasoned user.

Thankfully, you do not have to live through this charade of notifications. Microsoft allows you to turn these off in case they are not suitable for you or if you simply do not wish to receive them.

Toggle Off the Suggested Notification from the Settings

Turning off ‘suggested’ notifications is a very simple and straightforward process. To add to that, it will hardly demand more than a couple of clicks from your side to completely turn them off on your computer.

To do so, first, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Settings’ tile icon present under the ‘Pinned apps’ section. Otherwise, type Settings in the menu to perform a search for it. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows+I keys together on your keyboard to open the app.

After that, from the Settings window, make sure you have selected the ‘System’ tab present on the left sidebar to proceed.

Next, from the right section of the window, locate and click on the ‘Notifications’ tile from the list to continue.

Then, on the notifications screen, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the ‘Additional settings’ tile to expand it. After that, click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Get tips and suggestions when using Windows’ option to not receive the suggested notifications. Along with that, click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device’ option similarly.


How to Turn off Notifications on Windows 11

In case you tend to lose your focus and stray farther away from productivity due to the million notifications you receive in a day, Windows also allows you to turn off notifications entirely or else, turn them off per-app basis.

First, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Settings’ tile icon present under the ‘Pinned apps’ section. Otherwise, type Settings in the menu to perform a search for it. Alternatively, you can also press the Windows+I keys together on your keyboard to open the app.

Next, make sure you have selected the ‘System’ tab present in the left sidebar of the Settings app window to proceed.

After that, from the right section of the window, locate and click on the ‘Notifications’ tile to continue.

Now, on the next screen, locate the ‘Notifications’ tile and click on the toggle switch present on the far right edge of the tile to bring it to the ‘Off’ position. That’s it, all notifications have been turned off on your Windows 11 computer.

Windows also allow you to turn off notifications on a per-app basis, i.e you can turn off notifications from apps you do not wish to receive any update whilst leaving notifications as is from all the other apps on your device.

To turn off notifications for a specific app, from the ‘Notifications’ screen in the Settings app, scroll down to locate the list of apps present under the ‘Notifications from apps and other senders’ section. Then, manually scroll down to locate the app and click on its tile once located.

After that, on the next screen, locate the ‘Notifications’ section and click on the toggle switch present underneath to bring it to the ‘Off’ position. All the notifications from the specific app are now disabled.

Along with that, you can also mute the notifications or turn off the visual cue and only hear a chime when the app needs your attention. You can also set the priority of notifications coming from the app to make sure you never lose an update or let it sit at the bottom of the pile depending on your requirements.
