Abilities in Huss Valley are permanent perks you buy once and keep for every future match. Each one is tied to a role, so Runner abilities help you escape and Chaser abilities help you close the gap and land a hit. You pay with Gems you earn in-game or with Robux, and two of them cost nothing at all.
Quick answer: There are five abilities for each role: Runner and Chaser. One Hit Shield for Runners and Bear Trap for Chasers are free, while every other ability costs Gems or Robux. You may equip one ability per role at a time.

All Runner abilities in Huss Valley
Runner skills help you make room to escape. You can conceal yourself, knock a Chaser back, misdirect them with a false route, or drop a barrier behind you. One Hit Shield is available from the start, giving you a fallback before you spend anything.
| Ability | Effect | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Cloak | Vanish for 3 seconds; hits can still reach you, while using an item cuts the effect short | 1,625 Gems / 519 Robux |
| Emergency Airhorn | Knocks nearby Chasers backward in all directions | 1,450 Gems / 459 Robux |
| Inflatable Decoy | Sends a fake copy sprinting ahead for 7 seconds; it pops when caught | 1,200 Gems / 379 Robux |
| Pocket Door | Drops a temporary door in your path for 6 seconds | 875 Gems / 279 Robux |
| One Hit Shield | Absorbs one incoming hit for 0.75 seconds, then breaks | Free (default) |
Cloak keeps you faintly visible to nearby players, so it works best for a clean break rather than a slow getaway. Pocket Door is the cheapest paid pick and forces a Chaser to smash through or go around, which buys a few seconds at a choke point.

Chaser skills focus on extending your reach, controlling Runners, and getting around quickly. They can drag Runners toward you, lengthen one swing, give you a burst of speed, or hold a Runner still. Bear Trap is unlocked for free, so you can start hunting without spending Gems.
| Ability | Effect | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Rufus’s Leash | Fires a leash up to 15 studs; a hit pulls the Runner up to 6 studs toward you | 1,625 Gems / 519 Robux |
| Rocket Shoes | Dashes along your movement, or camera-forward when standing still | 1,300 Gems / 419 Robux |
| Big Dagger | Doubles melee reach on your next hit within a 5-second window | 1,125 Gems / 359 Robux |
| Bowling Ball | Rolls a ball that briefly trips any Runner it hits directly | 600 Gems / 195 Robux |
| Bear Trap | Throws a trap up to 10 studs; first Runner is stuck for 0.5 seconds, lasts 12 seconds | Free (default) |
Rufus’s Leash turns a Runner’s successful juke into a mistake by dragging them back into range. Bowling Ball is the budget option at 600 Gems, giving you a long-range trip without a large spend.
Shop prices can shift after game updates, so confirm the Gem and Robux cost in the in-game shop before committing a large Gem balance.

How to buy and equip an ability

How to earn Gems for abilities
Gems are the main currency for permanent unlocks, and there are several ways to build a balance while you play.
- As a Runner, collect Gems lying across the arena floor.
- Finish daily quests and collect the Gem rewards they provide.
- Redeem active Huss Valley codes for free Gems and boosts.
- Finish event objectives for extra Gems.
- Spin the lobby wheel for a chance at rewards.
Because Gems carry over between matches, it helps to spend them on the ability that fixes the mistake you make most often. If you keep getting cornered, a barrier or a shove is worth more than raw reach, and codes that grant double-Gem boosts will get you there faster.
