One of the most exciting features of iOS 12 is the new Measure app. It lets you measure anything using your iPhone’s AR capabilities. But it’s not for every iOS 12 device. If you’ve got an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, you can’t have the Measure app.

The app works equally well on all supported iOS 12 devices. Whether it be the iPhone X or the iPhone SE, Measure works equally well for both.

If you have any trouble using Measure on your iPhone, check out the tips below to fix any issues with the app.

What to do when Measure app is not working?

There could be many reasons to why Measure app is not working properly on your iPhone. Let’s have a look at a few:

More light required

If you’re trying to measure something in a place where there is a dim light, you will get the “More light required” message on the screen. If possible, try turning on the light switches or open the curtains to let light fall on the subject you’re trying to measure.

Continue to move iPhone

To use the Measure app you need to scan the area nearby pretty well. If the area you’re looking to Measure is farther or too close, the chances are your iPhone will keep showing the “Continue to move iPhone” message on the screen as it tries to figure out the area. Try the below-mentioned tips to get past it:

  • Step back or step forward to get yourself in the right distance to the surface you want to measure.
  • Restart the app and try again on a cleaner surface.
  • Move your iPhone camera to a different area, and then bring back it back to the area you want to measure to give it a fresh start.
  • Make sure your iPhone’s camera lens is clean.

Find a nearby surface to measure

If measure app shows “Find a nearby surface to measure” message on the screen, it means that the app is not able to find any object/surface in view that it can measure.

Move around or step back/forward a little if you’re too close or far to the area you’re trying to measure. Remember, you to be in the right distance with the area you want to measure. If you’re planning to measure one corner of the room by standing in the other corner, the app won’t work.
