Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight - All Three Poster Pieces in Tricorner

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight - All Three Poster Pieces in Tricorner

The first proper case in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight drops you into Tricorner with Jim Gordon, a torn-up wanted poster, and a mystery driver in a purple car. Renee Montoya hands off the legwork, and you have to collect three poster fragments scattered around the docks before the game lets you name your suspect and start the chase.

🦇
Quick answer: Talk to Renee Montoya as Gordon, then grab the three poster pieces near the docks - one in a parking lot by a blue bus, one on top of a shipping container past the Octan sign, and one on a construction platform above the container.

Before the posters: triggering the investigation

The poster hunt only opens up after the Tricorner Investigation tutorial chain. You will get radio calls in sequence, and each one needs to be cleared before Montoya appears on the map.

Step 1: Respond to the purse snatcher call first. Approach from the bridge above so you can take down a couple of thugs silently before the fight kicks off.

Step 2: Drive the Batmobile to the break-in marker. Grapple to the rooftop once you arrive and clear out the thugs waiting up there.

Step 3: Head to Montoya's marker near the construction site to the west. She will not speak to Batman, so press down on the D-pad to swap to Gordon and start the conversation as him.

Renee explains that her sketch of the suspect connected to the purple car was torn apart, and the pieces ended up scattered nearby. Hold the right thumbstick to enter detective view and ping the markers if you lose your bearings.

All three poster piece locations

All three fragments sit within a short grapple of Montoya's position by the docks. You can collect them in any order, but the route below is the fastest.

PieceLocationHow to reach it
1Dockside parking lotTurn around from Montoya and head west into the lot. The piece is against the wall near a blue bus, with a stud chest beside it.
2Top of a shipping containerFrom the parking lot, look up past the Octan sign toward the docks. Grapple onto the large container to grab the piece.
3Construction platformFrom the container, you can see a raised platform with two construction worker minifigs. Grapple across to pick up the last piece.

Note: stud chests and a few collectibles sit along this same route, so it is worth sweeping the rooftops before heading back.

Identifying the suspect

Return to Montoya with all three pieces, and a short matching mini-game starts. You need to pick the correct face, head, and tie from a row of options to assemble the poster.

The face and the tie are straightforward visual matches. The head is the trickiest slot. You are looking for a mostly bald minifig head with tufts of brown hair hanging down the sides. Pick that one, and the poster snaps into place as Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin.

A new waypoint appears on the map pointing to the fish market, where Cobblepot is hiding out between two blue crates. Talk to him as Batman to shake him down. He will bolt for his purple car, and the chase begins.

Running down the Penguin

Hop into the Batmobile (Gordon's GCPD cruiser also works, but it is slower) and tail the purple car through Tricorner. Cobblepot loops around the same district, so even if you lose visual contact for a moment, he will come back around.

Driving alongside him does nothing. You have to ram his vehicle at least three times to bring him down. Press X to trigger the Batmobile's Booster when he pulls ahead. The Booster also increases ram damage, so time it just before contact for the cleanest hits.

After the third ram, a cutscene takes over. Batman and Gordon interrogate the Penguin, who points them toward the Iceberg Lounge and Carmine Falcone. That cutscene is your confirmation that the Tricorner Investigation is complete and the next story beat is live on your map.

If the chase keeps failing

A handful of small issues tend to stretch the chase out longer than it needs to be.

ProblemFix
Penguin keeps pulling awayHold the Booster for sustained speed on straightaways rather than tapping it.
Glancing hits not countingAim for the rear quarter of his car, not the side. Head-on or rear ramming registers more reliably.
Lost line of sightStay on the main loop through Tricorner. He drives in circles, so holding position usually brings him back to you.

The wanted poster on Cobblepot is one of seven scattered across Gotham's islands, all gated behind this first meeting with Montoya. Clearing Tricorner unlocks the rest of the system, so the docks puzzle doubles as the tutorial for every wanted poster case that follows.
