Wolverine is the classic rushdown pick in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, part of the Unbreakable X-Men and built to close distance and never let go. His Adamantium claws give him a mix of fast slashes, an overhead, a low, and a real projectile, all wrapped around a single mechanic that decides how much damage he does. Arc System Works rates him a maximum five stars for ease of use, so he is friendly to pick up while still rewarding players who learn one core loop.
Quick answer: Wolverine’s Unique moves activate Berserker Rage through Berserker Finish. While Rage is active his abilities gain extra hits, but it ends after you spend it, so keep re-activating it inside your combos. Use X-Force to beat zoners and Feral Shred to stop jump-ins.

How Berserker Rage works
Everything about Wolverine’s damage comes back to Berserker Rage. It starts with Berserker Claw, his signature move that lets him slash while moving forward. On contact, that move can flow into Berserker Finish or one of his other Unique attacks.
Berserker Finish is the switch. When it lands, it slams the opponent down and turns Rage on. Once Rage is active, his Unique moves gain extra slashes and hit harder. The catch is that using Berserker Finish again during Rage spends it and turns Rage off, so you have to weave activation in and out as you go. Because Berserker Claw and Berserker Dive both lead into these follow-ups, Logan has several natural ways to keep the cycle running.
Note: Berserker Maul, Berserker Sweep, and Berserker Charge each activate Berserker Rage on hit as well, and each one gets a stronger version once Rage is already running.

Add to Google Preferences →Wolverine’s Unique moves
The Unique button (U) is where his Berserker toolkit lives. These moves give him an overhead, a low, an armored option, and an air-to-ground dive, all of which can turn Rage on.
| Move | Input | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Berserker Claw | U | Lunges forward with a multi-hit claw slash; can be followed by Berserker Finish or other Unique moves on contact. |
| Berserker Finish | U during standing or jumping U | Heavy slam that activates Berserker Rage on hit; deals extra hits and ends Rage if used while Rage is active. |
| Berserker Dive | Air U | Dives diagonally toward the ground from mid-air. |
| Berserker Maul | Forward + U | Overhead downward slash; follows up after Berserker Claw or Berserker Dive. |
| Berserker Sweep | Down-Forward + U | Low sweeping claw strike; also chains from Claw or Dive. |
| Berserker Charge | Back + U (hold OK) | Close-range pierce with armor from partway through; the input can be held to delay it. |
Because Berserker Maul is an overhead and Berserker Sweep is a low, you have a built-in high/low mix off the same button. Berserker Charge is your armored answer when you want to plow through a blockable attack.

Skills and their uses
His four Skills cover the gaps that a pure melee character usually struggles with. Yes, even the ranged move is a claw slash.
| Skill | Input | Role |
|---|---|---|
| X-Force | Down, Down-Forward, Forward + L (or Quick Skill) | Fires an X-shaped projectile; the initial slash negates incoming projectiles. Works in the air, and the EX version can cause a ground bounce. |
| Feral Shred | Forward, Down, Down-Forward + L (or Forward + QS) | Rising claw uppercut that endures aerial attacks partway through, making it a strong anti-air. The air version can’t be reused until you land. |
| Eviscerate | Down, Down-Back, Back + L (or Back + QS) | Spinning forward drill; the grounded M version gains armor partway through and has a follow-up input. |
| Weapon X | Down, Down-Forward, Forward + L + M (or Down + QS) | Leaps up and slams down; left/right changes where he lands, and it works as an overhead against crouchers. |
The M versions of these Skills cost 25 Skill Gauge. Eviscerate has the most going on: its follow-up with L or Quick Skill sends the opponent flying horizontally, while the M or H follow-up slams them into the ground, which is ideal for setting up Wall Breaks. You can also trigger the Break version of that attack by adding an extra L at the end of a Light Link Attack.

Super and Ultimate Skills
Wolverine has two meter-spending finishers, and the Ultimate ties directly back into his Rage loop.
Adamantium Rave (Super Skill)
Costing 50 Skill Gauge, you input down and right, then M and H. Wolverine launches a spinning attack and finishes with a large slash that knocks the opponent down. It’s your reliable combo ender when you have half a bar.
Savage Instinct (Ultimate Skill)
This one costs 100 Skill Gauge. Input left and right at the same time, then right, then M, then H. Logan unleashes a flurry that ends in a cinematic spinning attack. The payoff is that it activates Berserker Rage afterward, letting you fire off one powered-up move for free even outside the normal Rage window.
Simple combos to start with
His normal attacks come in standing, crouching, and aerial versions of Light, Medium, and Heavy. Heavy attacks also have aerial variations on Down-Forward + H, Down + H, and Down-Back + H. The easiest way into damage is chaining normals into a Link Attack.
- L → L → L: Three light claw slashes. The simplest, most repeatable chain, and a good way to chip when you’re getting boxed in.
- M → M → M: Three medium slashes that end in an upward launcher.
- H → H → H: Three heavy slashes ending in a spinning claw attack.
- Mixed: Combine standing and crouching normals, then cap a Unique move with Berserker Finish for follow-up damage.
A clean beginner habit is to end your Unique-move strings with Berserker Finish. Hitting U again after another Unique move both adds damage and turns Rage on for the next sequence.

How to play Wolverine and beat zoners
Wolverine wants to be in your opponent’s face. He has more reach than most melee characters, but his real strength shows up at point-blank range where his high/low mix and Berserker pressure force mistakes. Stay grounded, apply constant pressure, and let the opponent panic.
Against characters who want to keep you out, X-Force keeps you from being locked down. It fires a projectile and its opening slash cancels incoming projectiles, so you can trade or win fireball exchanges while you march forward. When an opponent tries to escape upward, Feral Shred snuffs out jump-ins thanks to its aerial armor. Berserker Charge is your third answer, pushing through blockable attacks to keep your turn.
Tip: When you land a knockdown with Eviscerate’s M or H follow-up, look for a Wall Break to carry the opponent into the corner, where Wolverine’s mix-up game is hardest to escape.

Assists and team play
As part of a tag team, Wolverine offers useful assist coverage for teammates. When called, his assist actions map to the different assist types.
| Assist type | Action |
|---|---|
| Assemble Assist Shooter | Slashes forward, releasing an X-Force projectile. |
| Assemble Assist Vertical | Performs Feral Shred upward. |
| Assemble Assist Assault | Grounded close-range armored attack. |
| Assemble Assist Aerial | Lunges toward the ground from mid-air. |
| Assemble Rush | Follows up with a lunging attack. |
The Shooter assist is especially handy, giving projectile-poor teammates a way to control space while Wolverine sits off-screen.
Wolverine comes with four color palettes unlocked from the start, including the default Yellow/Blue, the Grey/Black X-Force look, the Brown/Yellow classic, and a Blue/Red option. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches August 6th, 2026 for PS5 and PC via Steam. Master the Berserker Rage loop early and the rest of his kit falls into place fast.
