Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – How to Turn Off Cross Play on PS5

PS5 players who want cleaner online matches in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls can stop being paired with PC opponents by switching off Cross Play. The PC version currently runs into lag, stuttering, and frame-rate drops, and because Cross Play mixes both platforms into the same matchmaking pool, a stable PS5 session can inherit those problems whenever it connects to a struggling PC player.

Quick answer: Open OPTIONS from the main menu, go to the Online Settings tab, and turn Cross Play off. From that point, matchmaking will only connect you with other PS5 players.

Why PS5 players are disabling Cross Play

The PS5 build is the more stable way to play right now. The PC version has drawn “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with players pointing to performance issues that carry over into online play. Cross Play is a core feature meant to let PS5 and PC fans fight each other, but that same connection can drag a smooth PS5 match into the stutter and input problems affecting the PC side.

A Day 1 update addressed several concerns raised during the open beta, including control input optimization, reduced input lag, and lower CPU load. Those changes helped, but they did not resolve everything. Arc System Works has confirmed that more performance fixes are on the way, so turning off Cross Play is a way to protect your online experience until the PC build catches up.

Turn off Cross Play on PS5

From the main menu, move the cursor down to OPTIONS and select it. This is the same menu that holds System, Graphics, Audio, and Accessibility settings.
At the top of the Options screen, move across the horizontal tabs and choose Online Settings. Cross Play lives here rather than under the control or graphics tabs.
Set the Cross Play option to off. Back out of the menu to save the change, then start searching for a match as normal.

How to confirm it worked

Once Cross Play is off, matchmaking is restricted to the PS5 pool only. You will no longer be queued into sessions with PC players, which removes the risk of picking up their stutter, lag, or frame-rate drops mid-match. If the toggle still reads as on when you return to Online Settings, it did not save, so set it again before backing out.

What you give up by disabling Cross Play

Cross Play settingWho you can match withTrade-off
OnPS5 and PC playersLarger pool, but risk of inheriting PC performance issues
OffPS5 players onlyMore stable matches, but a smaller pool to search

Note: Cutting the pool to PS5 only can mean fewer available opponents, so keep that in mind if you rely on a fast queue. If you want the widest possible matchmaking again later, you can turn Cross Play back on from the same Online Settings tab, especially after Arc System Works ships the additional PC performance fixes it has confirmed.
