Mirkvale Anecdote Locations in Where Winds Meet (All 26)

Mirkvale holds 26 Experience/Anecdote entries, and clearing all of them fills out your Hidden Mountain exploration and hands over the region’s Echo Jade. Most entries come from standing near two NPCs and letting their conversation play out, but a handful only trigger after you change the in-game time to a specific hour. The list below covers what unlocks each entry and where the tricky, time-gated ones sit.

Quick answer: Collect all 26 by talking to the named NPC or eavesdropping at each spot, and switch to the “Hai” hour for “Within the Vale,” nighttime for “Neighbors by Nightfall,” and the “Zi” hour for “Mirkvale Optimism.” The last entry, “The Blasting Method,” completes the list.

How anecdotes unlock in Mirkvale

Anecdotes are exploration collectibles. You earn them by walking up to a named character, listening in on two characters talking, or interacting with an animal or object. When one registers, it drops into your Experience tab, so claim the reward there after each unlock.

Three Mirkvale entries will not appear until you open the time wheel and set the clock. Do that first when you reach those spots, otherwise the conversation never starts. One entry, “The Sluice Mechanisms,” runs in two parts and needs two separate stops.

Handling the two-part and time-gated entries

For “The Sluice Mechanisms,” start at the blacksmith station and interact with Yan Si to trigger the first half. The entry stays incomplete at this point, which is expected.

Move to the wooden walkway that overlooks the water mechanism and listen to Zhang Bi. That second stop closes out the entry.

For the three timed entries, open the time wheel before you approach the NPCs. Set Hai hour for “Within the Vale,” night for “Neighbors by Nightfall,” and Zi hour for “Mirkvale Optimism.” If nothing happens, the clock is on the wrong hour.

How to confirm you unlocked each anecdote

When an anecdote registers, a notification pops on screen and the entry is added under the Experience tab. Open that tab to collect the reward tied to each unlock. Unlocking “The Blasting Method” from Shi Ali inside the cave completes the full Mirkvale set.

If a conversation refuses to start, the usual cause is the wrong in-game hour on a time-gated entry, or standing too far from the pair to trigger the eavesdrop prompt. Move closer until the prompt appears, and re-check the clock for the three timed spots.

Clearing the anecdote list feeds directly into your Hidden Mountain exploration progress and pays out Echo Jade. Working through the wider Mirkvale content in the region also grants a broader set of rewards, listed below.
