Mirkvale is the mining settlement carved into the gorge west of Heaven’s Threshold, in the Hidden Mountain region of Where Winds Meet. Once the Qiongqi Artificers have been pushed out and the Diversion Complex is running again, the miners, artisans and children living on its wooden walkways start handing out Wandering Tales — short clue-driven quests that turn on healing, disguises, deliveries and being in the right place at a very specific hour.
Quick answer: Every Mirkvale Wandering Tale pays 30 Echo Jade, 10 Hidden Mountain Exploration, 3,750 Coin and 3,750 Character EXP. Before you start, equip the Soulshade Umbrella with the Echoes of a Thousand Plants healing skill and be ready to shift the in-game clock to the Zi, Chen, Wu and Hai hours — without those two things, four of the tales cannot be finished.
All Mirkvale Wandering Tales and where they start
Nine tales are tied to Mirkvale and its surrounding village area. All of them are logged under Heaven’s Threshold, so they count toward that area’s exploration progress rather than any Qinghe or Kaifeng totals.
| Wandering Tale | Starts with | Extra reward |
|---|---|---|
| Scarab’s Rebirth | Xiaofang, near the mechanical lift | Wooden Scarab: Little Flower |
| Raven’s Testament | Wu Zhi, in the cave west of Mirkvale | Mystic Skill: World to Sword |
| Miner’s Malady | Shi Erniang and Cai Xin, on the upper platform | — |
| Wash the Worries Away | Foreman Shi and the artisans | — |
| Behind the Bronzehead | Xiaoguan and Zha, at night | — |
| Prayers and Pine Nuts | Shi Cucu and Yan Xiaomei, near the shrine | — |
| Toxic Traditions | Cai Sanniang’s house | — |
| Bright Sparks | Senior Sister Bei, in the village | — |
| Of Hawks and Heroes | Zhu Jin, in the village square | — |

Three tools cover almost everything Mirkvale asks of you. The healing skill is the only hard gear requirement, and it is needed for a single puzzle rather than for the medical quests.
- Soulshade Umbrella with Echoes of a Thousand Plants: required to solve Raven’s Testament in the cave.
- Diagnosis and treatment: two tales ask you to pick the correct illness from the diagnosis menu, then apply Quick Treatment or inner energy therapy.
- Time control: several NPCs only appear at set hours. You will need Zi and Hai for night scenes, Chen for early morning, and Wu for midday.
The Hangrock Hamlet and Rollstone Hollow teleport points bracket the settlement’s lower and upper levels. Activating both saves a lot of climbing, because most tales bounce you between the walkways below and the platforms above.

Raven’s Testament: How to unlock the World to Sword skill
This is the most valuable tale in the area and the one people most often get stuck on, because the solution is a healing skill rather than a fight.

The two medical tales: Miner’s Malady and Toxic Traditions
Both of these hinge on choosing the right illness in the diagnosis window. Pick the wrong one and the treatment simply fails, so the exact answers matter.

The delivery tales: Scarab’s Rebirth and Wash the Worries Away
Both of these run through Xiaoba, the copper-headed craftsman at the centre of Mirkvale, who turns broken junk into something usable.

Time-gated tales: Behind the Bronzehead, Prayers and Pine Nuts, Of Hawks and Heroes
If an NPC is missing from the marked spot, the clock is almost always the reason. Each of these three tales makes you change the hour more than once.

Bright Sparks: All four students in order
Bright Sparks is the longest chain in the area, sending you across the village and out to Driftseed Moor to track down four wandering students.

How to confirm a tale is finished, and why one might not trigger
Completion is unmistakable. An ending card appears for the tale, followed by a reward screen listing 30 Echo Jade, 10 Hidden Mountain Exploration, 3,750 Coin and 3,750 Character EXP. The entry then moves out of your active Wandering Tales list in the journal. For Raven’s Testament, the extra confirmation is World to Sword showing up in your Mystic Skills.
When a step refuses to advance, it is usually one of four things.
- Wrong hour. Xiaoguan, Zha, Boss Mo, Shi Gandang, He Liangliang and the Osprey Trainer only appear at the hours listed above.
- Wrong diagnosis. Mo Chanchan is Hemoptysis, not Cough; everyone in Cai Sanniang’s house is Indigestion.
- Healing skill not equipped. Raven’s Testament does not react to any other technique.
- Disguise not active. Xiaofang gives the Scarab’s Rebirth ending only while you are wearing the Wooden Scarab.
Cleared end to end, the Mirkvale set is worth 270 Echo Jade and 90 Hidden Mountain Exploration on top of the coin and EXP, which is a meaningful chunk of the region’s completion bar. Raven’s Testament is the one to prioritize if you only have time for a single tale, since World to Sword is a permanent Mystic Skill rather than a one-off payout.
