Miso Sidekick in Fortnite: How to unlock all rewards fast

Miso is a Shiba Inu sidekick tied to Fortnite's Golden Week drop in Chapter 7: Season 2, sold for 1,200 V-Bucks in the item shop. Buying Miso unlocks an eight-stage quest line called Miso's Rewards, which hands out three outfit styles, an emote, a loading screen, an emoticon, a reaction, and a banner icon as you rack up Sidekick Points.

🐕
Quick answer: Buy Miso for 1,200 V-Bucks, equip it in the Locker under Sidekicks, then earn Sidekick Points by playing Battle Royale with Miso equipped. Driving a vehicle generates points the fastest.

What Miso is and what it costs

Miso is part of the Shinobi Shiba set and appears in the Golden Week section of the item shop. The base price is 1,200 V-Bucks. The sidekick is not free in the shop, despite some viral framing online. The "free" angle refers to the unlockable styles and cosmetics that come with the sidekick at no extra cost once you complete its quest stages.

Miso ships with built-in customization. You can change the body color, accent, and eye style once through the Customize option.

Miso's Rewards: Every unlockable item

Miso's Rewards is a sidekick quest line with eight stages. Each stage rewards a single cosmetic tied to Miso or its set. The full reward track includes three Shinobi Shozoku outfit styles (Yoru, Umi, Sakura), the Miso's Swordplay emote, the Sakura Slash Heart reaction, the Miso's Heart Eyes emoticon, the Miso's Drop loading screen, and a banner icon.

Buy and equip Miso

Step 1: Open the Fortnite item shop and scroll to the Golden Week section. Select the Miso sidekick tile and confirm the 1,200 V-Buck purchase. The Item Acquired screen will confirm Miso is part of the Shinobi Shiba set with built-in unlockable styles.

Step 2: Go to the Locker tab and open the Sidekicks category. Select Miso and equip it. If a different sidekick like Ice Prince or Toy Story Alien is still showing in your lobby, you have not equipped Miso correctly, and no points will count.

Step 3: Open the Quests tab, select Sidekicks, then Miso's Rewards. Confirm Stage 1 of 8 reads "Earn Sidekick Points with any Miso" with a 0/1,500 progress bar before queueing into a match.

How Sidekick Points are earned

Sidekick Points accumulate while Miso is equipped in compatible experiences, primarily Battle Royale. Points are tied to time spent in-match with the sidekick active and to movement that forces the sidekick to follow or teleport to keep up. Looting, opening chests, and eliminating opponents also feed points, but the gain rate from those alone is slow.

⚠️
Equip Miso before pressing Play. If you load into the Battle Bus with the wrong sidekick, your match will not contribute to Miso's quest stages.

Fastest way to farm Sidekick Points

Driving a vehicle is the most efficient method. Once you enter a car, Miso converts into a glowing blue trail that follows the vehicle, and points tick up rapidly while you drive. Land near roads or known vehicle spawns, grab the first car you see, and stay on the road for as long as the storm allows.

Two map-based tricks also accelerate progress on sidekicks generally. Sliding across the frozen lake in the snow biome forces the sidekick to teleport repeatedly to catch up with your speed, which generates points quickly. Riding a hot air balloon platform produces the same effect because the platform moves fast across the map while the sidekick keeps trying to keep pace.

How to confirm progress

After a match, return to the Quests tab and reopen Miso's Rewards. The current stage's progress bar should advance based on the points earned in that match. When a stage completes, the next stage unlocks automatically, and the previous reward becomes claimable in your locker. If the bar does not move, Miso was not equipped during that match, or you played a mode that does not count toward Sidekick Points.

Common reasons progress does not register

  • A different sidekick was equipped at match start.
  • The match took place in a non-compatible experience.
  • You disconnected before the match registered points server-side.

Fix the equip step in the Locker, queue a standard Battle Royale match, and points should start counting again from your next game.

Once you complete Stage 8, all three Shinobi Shozoku styles, the Miso's Swordplay emote, and the rest of the cosmetics are permanently tied to your account. The styles attach to Miso itself, so you can swap looks freely from the Customize menu in the Locker.
