The third campaign mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is Following Orders. As a North Korean soldier, you search village homes for a defector. Careful searching earns two Silver achievements. For No Stone Unturned, confiscate all contraband and read every note. For No Harm Done, find out where the Defector is without hurting a civilian. You can unlock both in a single run; each is worth 50 Gamerscore on Xbox.
Quick answer: Grab all four contraband items and two notes in the first house before you question the husband. The last two notes are in the third house. The second house has nothing to collect.
All Following Orders notes and contraband
The mission has four notes and four pieces of contraband. Six of the eight sit in the first house, so that is where you spend most of your time. The in-game counter tracks notes as “NOTES FOUND: X/4.”

The red toolbox has a padlock, but you can skip the code and shoot the lock off. If you would rather enter the combination, it is 214. The recipe note gives the code away. It lists 2kg of rice flour, 5ml of salt, 1L of water, and 4 packs of golden raisins, then reminds you, “Flour, then water, then raisins — skip the salt.” Drop the salt and read the remaining quantities in that order to get 2-1-4.
First house route: clear it before the interrogation
Collection order inside the first house matters for one reason. The contraband adds the dialogue options you need for No Harm Done, so don’t talk to the husband until every cabinet is empty.
No Harm Done: dialogue choices for the Defector’s location
With every piece of contraband in hand, the husband’s dialogue wheel shows four extra prompts: “Ask about rations,” “Ask about MP3 player,” “Ask about novel,” and “Ask about South Korean medicine.” Those are your leverage. Don’t pick any option that threatens or hurts either civilian.
Third house: the last two notes and the floor hatch
Follow your squadmate Ko through the second house, which has no notes or contraband. Everything you still need is in the third house, and the final note sits behind a locked hatch.
How to confirm both achievements unlocked
- No Harm Done pops as soon as the husband reveals the Defector’s location in the first house.
- The note counter reads “NOTES FOUND: 4/4” after you read Note From Mom.
- No Stone Unturned pops at that moment, as long as all four contraband items were confiscated.
Both achievements show as rare at this early stage of the campaign. If you clear the first house properly, the rest of the mission comes down to a key, a kettle, and one cellar shelf.
