Mortal Shell 2 Axatana Location (Returning DLC Weapon)

Reach the Forgotten Tower from Marrow Keep to claim the transforming axe-and-blades weapon with no level requirement.

Reach the Forgotten Tower from Marrow Keep to claim the transforming axe-and-blades weapon with no level requirement.

The Axatana returns in Mortal Shell 2 as an early-grab weapon that switches between a heavy axe and twin blades. It sits in the Forgotten Tower in the southeast corner of the map, and there is no quest or progression gate holding it back. As long as you can reach Marrow Keep, you can go straight for it.

Quick answer: From Marrow Keep, teleport through the chain of Bone Gates to the Forgotten Tower, pull the lever on the side of the building to open the sealed room, then grab the Axatana from behind the Gloom Seeker. You do not need to fight the Gloom Seeker.

Where the Axatana is in Mortal Shell 2

The weapon is stored in a locked room inside the Forgotten Tower, at the far southeast of the world map. Because there are no requirements tied to it, you can run for it as soon as you arrive at Marrow Keep, even without leveling up or buying upgrades.

The only cost for failure is Gloom, so you can attempt the run as many times as you need. Most enemies along the path are slow, which means sprinting past them is usually faster than fighting.

Route to the Forgotten Tower

From Marrow Keep, take the elevator and head south. The path is blocked by corruption, so interact with it to cleanse it, then teleport to the Outskirts of Mammon.

From the Outskirts of Mammon beacon, follow the path toward the Road of Absolution. Sprint through this stretch and avoid the slow enemies rather than engaging them.
Keep moving forward until you reach the first Bone Gate. Use it to teleport to Castigator’s Keep.

Head to the gate and bait out the Mammon Knight’s rolling attack by moving one way, then quickly cutting back the other way as it starts to roll. After slipping past, go right and up the stairs to reach the Castigator’s Keep beacon, which works as a checkpoint. Otherwise, head left to continue.
Follow the wooden path to the left. Ignore the Foul Knights and Babkas along the way and keep going until you reach the second Bone Gate.

Use the second Bone Gate. As soon as you arrive, turn left and step onto the geyser to launch up to the higher area.
Keep heading left and drop down the ledge where the Babkas and Faceless Clerics are waiting. Sprint past them and go straight to the third Bone Gate, which takes you to the Forgotten Tower.
Inside the tower, immediately head left and go up the stairs.

At the top of the stairs, look to your right and enter the opening marked by two torches.
Continue up the stairs, then use the ledge on the right to drop down to the fourth and final Bone Gate. Use it to teleport to the final area.
Go around to the side of the building and pull the lever. This opens the gate to the room holding the Axatana.
Head inside. The Axatana sits just behind the Gloom Seeker. You can leave the enemy alone since killing it is not required, then pick up the weapon and exit.

How to confirm you got the Axatana

Picking up the weapon adds it to your inventory right away, and you can equip it from there. Once equipped, it behaves as a transforming weapon that shifts between a heavy axe and dual blades, giving you both a slower high-damage stance and a faster, more agile one.

Note: If you die on the way, you only lose Gloom and can restart the run immediately, so the trip is safe to retry until the Axatana is in your inventory.

Axatana upgrade materials

Once you have the weapon, you can raise its damage at a workbench using Ventrium and Laterite along with Coin. Each level adds a set percentage to its damage output.

The Axatana first appeared as part of The Virtuous Cycle DLC in the original Mortal Shell, where it was tied to the Hadern shell. In the sequel it comes much earlier and with no boss gate, making it one of the easiest strong weapons to secure at the start of a run.
