Two locked towers in Fainweald stay sealed until you track down the right key, and both keys sit a fair distance from the doors they open. The Chapel Key unlocks the Shrine of Trials near Mushroom Village, while the Crypt Key opens the Hall of Echoes in Eastern Fainweald. Here is exactly where each one hides and what waits inside.
Quick answer: Grab the Chapel Key from the statue behind the illusory stone arch southeast of the Mushroom Village beacon, then use it on the tower left of the beacon to enter the Shrine of Trials. Grab the Crypt Key from the ruined building at Desolate Peak in western Fainweald, then use it on the tower north of the Grisha Hunting Grounds to enter the Hall of Echoes.

The Chapel Key sits in southern Fainweald, close to the Mushroom Village beacon. You will likely find the locked door before you find the key, since the key is tucked behind an illusion that is easy to walk past.

Where to use the Chapel Key: Shrine of Trials
Return to the Mushroom Village beacon and head left this time. You will reach a camp of Grisha Hunters with a baby Grisha trapped in a cage. You can free the pup for a later interaction, but the door you want is the locked tower just past the cage.
Use the Chapel Key on that tower door to enter the Shrine of Trials. Inside, the dungeon runs on a short puzzle sequence:
- First room: read the statue clue, “Gaze upon your king so true, back and back you shall pass through.” Face the king statue and walk backwards to dissolve the illusory wall behind you.
- Second room: strike the two stone pedestals so they land neatly on the pressure plates, opening the way forward.
- Final room: defeat the Spear Knight to claim the Axe & Dagger weapon.
The Axe & Dagger is a fast weapon that pairs well with the Tiel Shell if you have already unlocked it. Once the key turns and the door opens, the Shrine of Trials is marked on your map, confirming the run is available.

How to get the Crypt Key
The Crypt Key is the trickier of the two because the key and its door sit at opposite ends of the region. The key waits at Desolate Peak in western Fainweald, while the locked tower is in Eastern Fainweald, due north of the Grisha Hunting Grounds and south of the Stones of Remembrance.

Where to use the Crypt Key: Hall of Echoes
Travel back east to the hilly area near the Stones of Remembrance and the Grisha Hunting Grounds and open the locked tower. Head down the steps into the Hall of Echoes and watch for the Coffin Eye in the tunnel. To reach the sealed chamber, strike the stone block so it rests on top of the pressure plate.
The inner chamber holds three rewards:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Winterglass Gem | Sell it to Merrick for 1,000 coins. |
| Dorsalite | Upgrades weapons and sidearms at the Tarforge. |
| Sheephead Totem | Kill the sheep in the room to loot it. Turns you into a sheep to stay undetectable and passively lowers enemy maximum health by a small percentage. |
Note: The sheep only drops the Sheephead Totem after you kill it, so do not leave the chamber before dealing with it.

With both keys collected and both towers open, the Shrine of Trials and Hall of Echoes are fully cleared, netting you the Axe & Dagger plus the crafting and utility items from the crypt. If you missed either door on your first pass, the arch illusion near Mushroom Village and Baghead’s building at Desolate Peak are the only two places these keys appear.
