Mortal Shell 2: How to Get the Main and Secret Baghead Endings

Both Mortal Shell 2 endings can be reached in one run if you finish Baghead's quest before the finale.

Both Mortal Shell 2 endings can be reached in one run if you finish Baghead’s quest before the finale.

Mortal Shell 2 closes out in one of two ways. There is the standard conclusion that follows the main campaign, and a hidden finale tied to a wandering king called Baghead. Both are self-contained triggers, so you do not need a fresh playthrough to see each one.

Quick answer: Reach the main ending by collecting the Ova and sending all of them to the Heavens from the collection room in Marrow Keep. Reach the secret ending by completing Baghead’s short quest at the Desolated Peak in the Fainweald region before you finish the story.

Main ending: send the Ova to the Heavens

This is the finale most players see first. It follows the critical path of the campaign, so you clear the required quests and defeat the bosses standing between you and the end. The run is short by soulslike standards and can be finished in a few hours.

The key requirement is the Ova. You collect several of these across the world, then return them from the collection room inside Marrow Keep, your main hub. Sending them off moves each Ova to its place in the Heavens while the Harbinger remains behind.

Once the sequence triggers, the game plays out its standard conclusion. If you want the hidden ending instead, handle Baghead’s quest before you commit to this final step.

Secret Baghead ending: find him at the Desolated Peak

Baghead is a king who neither looks nor acts like one, and it is easy to walk past him without realizing he matters. Taking on and finishing his quest unlocks the hidden finale, where your character simply sits and does nothing for the rest of their days, mirroring Baghead himself.

Travel to the Desolated Peak on the western side of the Fainweald region. Baghead sits on a small island next to the Illusionist’s Cache dungeon. Reach it by using the jump teleporter from the Gloomshade Grove Beacon.
Interact with Baghead. He asks you to sit with his companions, so do that for a moment, then speak to him again. He follows up with some questions, and your answers here do not change the outcome.
Bring him the Special Moonshine. It sits very close to where he is sitting, so this errand is quick. Hand it over, and he asks another question that, again, has no wrong answer.
Return to the exact spot where you picked up the Moonshine, then go back and talk to Baghead once more. When the final dialogue starts, say yes to every question he asks.
After the conversation ends, speak to him one more time. This plays the cutscene that unlocks the secret ending.

How to confirm each ending triggered

For the main ending, the confirmation is the Ova sequence itself. Once every Ova is sent from the Marrow Keep collection room, they move into place and the closing scene plays with the Harbinger left behind.

For the Baghead ending, the payoff is the cutscene that starts after you speak to him a final time following his questions. If it does not play, the most common reason is skipping the return trip to the Moonshine spot or answering no to one of his final questions. Retrace those two steps and agree to everything, and the ending will fire.

Because the secret ending is gated entirely by Baghead’s quest, finish it before you send the Ova away. That order lets you see both conclusions without racing back through the campaign a second time.
