Every dollar your pool earns in Net a Fish ends up in one place: the Upgrades menu. It holds four tabs that control how fast and how far your net flies, how many fish you can carry, how likely you are to land rare and mutated catches, and how good your boats are. Each upgrade has a fixed level cap and a fixed gain per level, and the price climbs as you go. Once you know those numbers, it’s much easier to decide where your cash should go.

Quick answer: Click the green Upgrades button on the left side of the screen, pick a tab (Net Stats, Capacity, Perks, or Boats), and click an upgrade to buy its next level with Cash.

How to open the Upgrades menu and buy a level

You don’t need any item or unlock to use the menu. You need Cash, which your pool generates every second. Your current earning rate shows next to your name at the top of the screen as a per-second figure, so you can estimate how long a given upgrade will take to afford.

Head to your dock and look at the column of buttons on the left side of the HUD. It contains Hide, Store, Cooler, Upgrades, Rebirth, and Index. The large THROW NET button, bound to the C key, sits at the bottom center and is separate from the upgrade system.

Click the green Upgrades button. A red exclamation marker with the text “NET AVAILABLE!” can appear over it, and a similar red marker can show up over individual tabs inside the menu. Treat those markers as a nudge that something in that spot is ready to look at.
Choose a tab along the top of the window. The menu opens on Net Stats by default, and the other three tabs are Capacity, Perks, and Boats. Each upgrade card lists its current level, a one-line description, the stat change for the next level, and the price.
Click the upgrade’s price button to buy one level. The card refreshes right away with the new level and the next price, so you can keep clicking to buy several levels in a row as long as your Cash holds out.
Close the window with the exit button in its top-right corner to return to the dock and keep fishing.

Net Stats upgrades: Max Catch, Cast Speed, Cast Distance, Net Size

Net Stats covers the net itself. All four upgrades cap at level 10, and each one changes a single number by a fixed amount per level.

UpgradeWhat it changesGain per levelMax level
Max CatchFish caught per castCaps at 5 fish10
Cast SpeedCast and catch time-0.1s10
Cast DistanceThrow range+7.5m10
Net SizeSize of the net+5m10

Max Catch sets how many fish a single cast can pull in. At level 10 the card reads MAX LEVEL, the value holds at 5 fish, and there’s nothing more to buy.

Cast Speed shortens how long the net takes to fly out and bring fish back. Level 3 sits at 2.1 seconds, and each level trims a tenth of a second, so level 6 lands at 1.8 seconds. That sounds small, but every cast you make benefits from it.

Cast Distance pushes the net farther from shore. Level 4 throws 50m, level 5 reaches 57.5m, and level 6 reaches 65m.

Net Size makes the net itself bigger. Level 2 is 20m, and level 3 is 25m.

Net Stats prices by level

Prices go up with every level you buy. These are the costs for the levels listed, so you can see how steeply each line climbs.

UpgradeLevel changeStat changeCost
Cast Speed3 → 42.1s → 2s$500.00K
Cast Speed4 → 52s → 1.9s$1.00M
Cast Speed5 → 61.9s → 1.8s$2.50M
Cast Speed6 → 71.8s → 1.7s$5.00M
Cast Distance4 → 550m → 57.5m$2.00M
Cast Distance5 → 657.5m → 65m$4.00M
Net Size2 → 320m → 25m$10.00M

Cast Speed roughly doubles in price each level in that range, and Cast Distance doubles from one level to the next. Net Size is the most expensive single purchase in the tab at this stage, at $10.00M for one level.

Capacity tab: Fish Cooler upgrades

The Capacity tab holds one upgrade, the Fish Cooler. It controls how many fish you can hold while you’re out fishing, and every level adds room for exactly one more fish. Level 10 holds 10 fish, level 11 holds 11, and the cap is level 15.

Level changeCapacityCost
10 → 1110 → 11 fish$2.00M
11 → 1211 → 12 fish$4.00M

Like Cast Distance, the Fish Cooler price doubles between those two levels. A bigger cooler matters most once your net is pulling in fish quickly, because a full cooler is the point where you have to stop and deal with your catch.

Perks tab: Wave Rush and mutation chance upgrades

Perks don’t make the net faster or bigger. They change what you catch. All four start at level 0 and cap at level 10. The prices below are for the first level of each.

PerkEffectGain per levelFirst level cost
Rare Wave CatchRare fish chance in Wave Rush+10%$500.00K
Shiny MutationShiny mutation chance+1%$1.00M
Albino MutationAlbino mutation chance+1%$5.00M
Rainbow MutationRainbow mutation chance+1%$25.00M

Rare Wave Catch only does anything during a Wave Rush. When one is active, a WAVE RUSH banner appears on screen with the wave number, its rare and mutation multipliers (for example “Rare x3 · Mut x2.5” on a medium wave), and a countdown timer. Outside that window, this perk has no effect, which is worth weighing against its low entry price.

Shiny Mutation, Albino Mutation, and Rainbow Mutation all work the same way: each level adds one percentage point to the chance of that mutation. What separates them is price. Rainbow’s first level costs 25 times as much as Shiny’s for the same one-point bump, so the mutation perks double as a rough ladder of how rare each mutation is meant to be.

Boats tab: Upgrade Dock

The Boats tab contains Upgrade Dock, which raises your dock’s tier so it spawns better boats. It runs from level 0 to level 4, the shortest ladder in the menu. The first level costs $1.00M, and the second costs $10.00M, a tenfold jump.

This tab is tied to early progression. One of the quests in the tracker asks you to buy your first boat at your Boat Dock, and the Boats tab can carry a red exclamation marker while that’s relevant. Buying the first dock level is a cheap way to move that along.

How to confirm an upgrade purchase worked

Net a Fish doesn’t throw up a big confirmation screen. The proof is on the upgrade card itself, and it changes instantly.

  • The level counter ticks up, for example from “Lv. 3/10” to “Lv. 4/10”.
  • The stat preview shifts to the next step, such as “2s -> 1.9s” replacing “2.1s -> 2s”.
  • The price button shows the cost of the following level.
  • At the cap, the card reads MAX LEVEL and can’t be bought again.

If those numbers moved, the upgrade is active. From there it’s a budgeting game. Cast Speed and Rare Wave Catch are the cheapest entry points at $500.00K, the first dock level helps you toward your first boat for $1.00M, and the big-ticket items like Net Size and Rainbow Mutation are better saved for once your pool is earning enough per second to cover them without stalling everything else.
