Call of the Lost is an Anomaly Commission in Neverness to Everness (NTE) tied to the New Herland District. Completing it unlocks the Nestbound Bird boss, a giant masked Avian anomaly that lures lost children into its nest. The mission lives on a rooftop, not at street level, which is why most players miss it on a first pass.
Quick answer: Track the Call of the Lost commission, climb to the rooftop south of Oia Avenue in New Herland District, interact with the red torii gate, and defeat the Nestbound Bird inside the Anomalous Realm to clear the commission.

Call of the Lost location in New Herland District
The commission is anchored to a tall building south of Oia Avenue in New Herland District. The trigger is not on the ground, so following the map marker alone will leave you circling the base of the tower. You need to climb to the top of the structure (the Pink Paws Bank headquarters rooftop) before anything will activate.
On the roof, you will see a large floating red torii gate. Interacting with that gate opens an Anomalous Realm and starts the boss encounter against the Nestbound Bird.

How to unlock Call of the Lost
Step 1: Open the Anomaly Commissions menu from the World Map and accept Call of the Lost. The marker pin moves to the New Herland District tower south of Oia Avenue.
Step 2: Travel to the marked building and find a vertical path up. The route is not auto-highlighted, so use ledges, stairs, and your traversal abilities to reach the rooftop manually.

Step 3: On the rooftop, locate the floating red torii gate. This is the only interactable object that starts the encounter.
Step 4: Interact with the torii to enter the Anomalous Realm and begin the fight with the Nestbound Bird.
Step 5: Defeat the Nestbound Bird. The commission closes on victory, and the boss becomes a permanent, repeatable encounter at the same location.

Nestbound Bird fight tips
The Nestbound Bird hits hard and chains attacks quickly. Bring a leveled team built around its Cosmos weakness so you can break its stance faster and shorten the fight. Parries on its lunge openings, plus dodges through the airborne projectile rain, are the safest defensive plays.
After roughly 30% of its HP is removed, a scripted cutscene with Hotori plays. The bird becomes vulnerable for an extended window right after the cutscene, which is your main damage phase. Stack ultimates and follow-up attacks during this opening for the cleanest clear.
One recurring pattern is worth memorizing: the Bird flies out of melee range, rains projectiles with red prediction circles, follows up with a fusillade, then closes the string with a lunging strike. Dodge the rain, keep dodging through the fusillade, and parry the lunge to drop it into a stagger state.

High-Risk version of Call of the Lost
A harder variant unlocks once the standard commission is cleared. The High-Risk fight pits you against a Level 45 Nestbound Bird and requires Hunter Level 24 to access. Patterns stay the same, but damage taken and dealt scales sharply, so bring fully built characters and an Arc set tuned to Cosmos.
Common reasons Call of the Lost will not trigger
- The commission has not been accepted from the Anomaly Commissions menu yet.
- You are searching at street level instead of the rooftop south of Oia Avenue.
- You walked past the red torii gate without interacting with it.
- Your Hunter Level is too low for the commission to appear in your log.
You will know the commission is complete when the Nestbound Bird's HP bar empties, the realm exits to a results screen with the listed rewards, and the commission entry switches to a cleared state in the menu. From that point on, the boss can be challenged again at the same rooftop without re-triggering the questline.
