Out of Sight is a Chapter 1 side quest in Gothic 1 Remake that Thorus hands you at the Old Camp castle gate. He wants Mordrag, a New Camp merchant loitering near the south gate, gone. Finishing the job earns Thorus’s recommendation for Admission to the Old Camp, so it sits at the center of your push to join the Shadows.
Quick answer: Pester Thorus until he mentions Mordrag, walk to the south gate, then escort Mordrag to the New Camp. He gives you Mordrag’s Ring and 200 XP on arrival. Return to Thorus to collect 250 XP and his vote.

How to start Out of Sight from Thorus
Thorus stands at the Old Camp castle entrance, the same spot where he blocked you when you first reached the camp. He won’t offer the task right away. You have to push through his dialogue chain until he gives in and brings up Mordrag.

Mordrag waits near the south gate of the Old Camp. Head east of Thorus and follow the path toward the south exit. He wears a blue scarf and stays in that spot regardless of the weather. The first time you get close, he calls out to you and the conversation begins on its own.

Three ways to remove Mordrag
Thorus leaves the method up to you. Each path closes the quest, but they pay out different experience and different loot. The table below lays out exactly what each choice gives.
| Choice | Outcome | XP from Mordrag |
|---|---|---|
| Escort him to the New Camp | Mordrag leaves willingly, hands you Mordrag’s Ring, marks New Camp on your map | 200 XP |
| Kill him after the escort | Loot the ring, Sting Mace, and Rider’s Bow from his body | 200 XP + kill bonus |
| Kill him inside the Old Camp | Loot the ring, but others may join the fight | 100 XP |
| Beat him and tell him to get lost | He disappears, no ring | 100 XP |

Escort Mordrag to the New Camp (recommended)
Tell Mordrag you have a problem, or ask whether he’s a courier for the water mages, then ask him to take you to the New Camp. He agrees and walks the route with you, which starts the Admission to the New Camp main quest.
Along the way, Mordrag fights every hostile creature you run into. That lets you loot the bodies and pick up combat experience without taking the hits yourself. At the New Camp entrance, he gives you Mordrag’s Ring, awards 200 XP, and tells you to speak with Lares. This does not lock you out of the Old Camp or Swamp Camp, so you can turn around and head back immediately.
Kill Mordrag for his weapons
Killing Mordrag is the only way to grab his Sting Mace and Rider’s Bow. Do not start the fight inside the Old Camp, since nearby characters can pile on and overwhelm you early. Instead, let him escort you out, allow road enemies to wear down his health, then attack him mid-journey. Keep your distance when you engage, because he switches between a mace and a bow and his arrows hurt at close range.

Scare him off
Pick “This camp is too small for the two of us” to start a fight, then tell him to get lost once you’ve won. Mordrag leaves, but you walk away with no ring and only 100 XP. This is the weakest result with no real upside over the escort.
Watch out for the bridge guards
If you head straight back toward the Old Camp after reaching the New Camp, two guards on the bridge stop you and demand 10 Ore Nuggets as a bribe. You can pay it, sprint past them, or fight. Keep in mind they switch to bows once you put distance between you and them.
Report to Thorus and claim your reward
Return to Thorus at the castle entrance and tell him Mordrag is handled. He awards 250 XP and his vote for Admission to the Old Camp. The quest is confirmed complete when Thorus gives his approval. You also gain free use of Mordrag’s old residence near the south gate, which works as a spot to sleep and store items.

What to do with Mordrag’s Ring
The ring grants +5 Dexterity when equipped, which helps ranged builds and early characters. You have three ways to use it.
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Give it to Lares at the New Camp | Advances Admission to the New Camp and unlocks the A Piece of the Pie quest |
| Keep and equip it | +5 Dexterity |
| Sell it | Fisk in the Old Camp pays 65 Ore Nuggets |
Lares sits inside the New Camp’s main cave, to the left past the bandits at the entrance. Handing him the ring keeps both faction paths open, so it’s the choice to make if you want flexibility later.
The Fisk complication after the quest
Removing Mordrag upsets Fisk, the merchant tied to the Whistler’s Sword quest. The next time you talk to him, he threatens to vote against you for Old Camp admission. You can defuse this by telling him you can fix the problem, which starts A New Fence for Fisk.
Note: Fisk’s vote only counts against you once he actually casts it. If you’d rather skip that quest, simply avoid speaking to him until after you finish Diego’s task and join the Old Camp.

For the cleanest run, escort Mordrag out, decide on the road whether his weapons are worth a fight, and report back to Thorus for the vote. That single decision threads through both the Old Camp and New Camp admission lines, which is why Out of Sight pulls more weight than its short objective suggests.
