Palworld 1.0: Ancient Bark, Ancient Bone, and Ancient Lava Locations

Every Sanctuary island that holds the three new materials, the tools you need, and the accessories they build.

Every Sanctuary island that holds the three new materials, the tools you need, and the accessories they build.

The 1.0 update added a tier of late-game accessories to Palworld, and their recipes lean on three materials you cannot buy from any Wandering Merchant. Ancient Bark, Ancient Lava, and Ancient Bone each live on their own Wildlife Sanctuary island, glow with a bright sparkle, and only drop when you break them with the correct tool. Each node hands over roughly 30 of its material per harvest.

Quick answer: Chop the glowing tree stumps on Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 (south, near the start) for Ancient Bark, mine the purple lava nodes on Sanctuary No. 2 (west, around -690, -106) for Ancient Lava, and mine the skeletal ribcage nodes on Sanctuary No. 3 (far northeast, around 664, 636) for Ancient Bone.

Where each Ancient material spawns

All three resources are tied to the Sanctuary islands scattered across Palpagos. The nodes are easy to spot once you are close because every one carries a sparkle effect and a faint glow. Bring a fast-flying mount so you can hop between spawns and leave before the island guardians corner you.

MaterialSanctuaryNode typeTool
Ancient BarkNo. 1 (south, near the starting area, ~57, -677)Glowing tree stumpsAxe / Plasma Multicutter
Ancient LavaNo. 2 (west, ~-690, -106)Purple glowing rockPickaxe / mining tool
Ancient BoneNo. 3 (far northeast, ~664, 636)Skeletal ribcagePickaxe / Plasma Multicutter

Note: Every Sanctuary is patrolled by drones and PIDF guards that open fire on you and your Pal the moment they spot you inside the dome. If you get caught in their line of sight, you trigger a Wanted status. Break a few nodes, then move out past the dome walls until the drones retreat back inside.

Ancient Bark on Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1

Fly out to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1, the island off the southern coast near where you begin the game. You can reach it early by teleporting to the Sea Breeze Archipelago Castaway Great Eagle Statue and heading north toward roughly 57, -677.

Look for the distinctive glowing tree stumps spread across the island. There is no single node here, so several of the special trees repeat all over the biome and let you farm as much as you want in one trip.
Hit a glowing stump with any axe or the Plasma Multicutter. It splits into logs and drops around 30 Ancient Bark. Loop tightly between the nearest trees to keep harvesting while giving the drones less time to lock onto you.

Ancient Bark is an Uncommon, wood-type material (item code Wood_Ancient). It is worth 800 Gold each, weighs 5, and stacks up to 9,999, which makes it something you gather in bulk rather than pick up by accident.

Ancient Lava on Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2

Head to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 on the western side of the map, around coordinates -690, -106. A quick route is to teleport to the Ruined Fortress City in the northern volcano region (around -563, -240) and glide into the sanctuary from there.

The zone is rocky and volcanic, laced with blue glowing lava streams that give away where you are. Find a purple, glowing rock node and mine it with your pickaxe or best mining tool.
Each node yields roughly 30 Ancient Lava. The item shows up as an Uncommon ore described as a mass of lava sealed with blue lava that is still giving off heat. Three drones guard this island, so keep a healer like Herbil or Teafant on hand in case you take a hit.

Ancient Bone on Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3

Travel to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 in the far northeastern corner of the map, near coordinates 664, 636. Fast travel to the Deep Sand Dunes (527, 528) or The Furtherest Flats (473, 686) Great Eagle Statue in the desert region, then glide over to the sanctuary.

The island is yellow and sandy, and the bone nodes stand out as large skeletal ribcage formations. Watch for the sparkle and glow that mark every Sanctuary resource, which makes the bones easy to pick out against the sand.
Break a ribcage node with a high-tier pickaxe or the Plasma Multicutter. You will pull about 30 Ancient Bone per node while dodging the red light of the roaming drones.

Farm them passively with the Ancient Relic Recycler

Once you reach the endgame World Tree biome and unlock the Ancient Relic Recycler, you no longer have to keep flying island runs. Feed collected Ancient Relics into the machine at your base, and it produces a steady output of these materials, Ancient Bone included, on its own.

The recycler needs power to run, so build a Power Generator and assign a Pal to generate electricity for it. That turns a fight-heavy grind into a background chore while you handle other tasks.

What the Ancient materials build

These materials exist to gate the new endgame accessories, and none of them sell through a Wandering Merchant. Ancient Bone alone feeds seven recipes, each eating 30 to 60 units per craft on top of a schematic and a heavy Gold cost. Stockpile well beyond a single craft if you plan to gear up backup Pals.

AccessoryAncient BoneGold cost

Vanguard Charm30400,000
Air Walker Mk III30300,000
Air Walker EX60350,000
Phantom Ring30600,000

The Dogen Emblem raises your Attack and your active Pal’s Attack to Level 4, while the Vanguard Charm increases heat and cold resistance along with health. Ancient Bark and Ancient Lava cover a separate set of accessories aimed at resistance and mobility.

Because the Sanctuary islands and the Ancient Relic Recycler are the only ways to keep your accessory bench stocked, farm a comfortable surplus before you commit to a build. Running dry mid-craft is the most common way players stall out on this endgame gear.
