The Best Grass-Type Pals to Catch and Breed in Palworld 1.0

The seven Grass-type Pals worth prioritizing for boss survival, Ivy-Covered burst combos, and top-tier base production.

The seven Grass-type Pals worth prioritizing for boss survival, Ivy-Covered burst combos, and top-tier base production.

Grass-type Pals carry two jobs at once in Palworld 1.0. They hit Ground-type enemies for double damage, and they are the only Pals in the game that can perform Planting work at your base. That combination makes a strong Grass roster useful for both boss fights and food production, and a handful of them stand well above the rest.

Quick answer: Warsect is the most reliable all-round Grass combat Pal thanks to its Cast-Iron Shell barrier and dual Ground/Grass moves, while Lyleen is the pick when you need in-combat healing and Dandilord is the best base worker with Level 8 Planting.

How Grass typing works and why Planting matters

Grass sits in a clean spot on the element chart. Its attacks deal double damage to Ground-type Pals, and it resists incoming Ground damage. The trade-off is Fire, which hits Grass for double damage, so keep these Pals off the field against Fire bosses.

The bigger reason to keep several Grass Pals around is Planting. Only Grass-types can be assigned to Planting work, so a berry plantation or any crop plot depends entirely on having them at your base. That is why several entries below are ranked as much for their work levels as their combat skills.

Best Grass Pals for boss survival

Warsect

Warsect is the tankiest Grass Pal you can build a team around. Its Ground/Grass typing lets it learn strong moves from both elements, so a single Pal covers a wide spread of matchups. You cannot ride or fly it, which is its only real drawback.

The Cast-Iron Shell partner skill raises a barrier around you once you take five melee hits in quick succession, which pairs well with close-range weapons like shotguns and swords. Its Hard Skin passive adds another 10% defense on top. For base work it brings Planting Lv 3, Handiwork Lv 3, Lumbering Lv 4, and Transporting Lv 5.

Lyleen

Lyleen is the standout healer among Grass Pals. Its Harvest Goddess partner skill instantly restores 80 to 90 percent of your health and your party’s health, which keeps you alive through long end-game boss fights where lifesteal alone is not enough.

It also carries the Spirit Emperor passive, boosting Grass-type damage for you and your Pals by 30 percent. At base it is a first-rate producer with Planting Lv 7, Gathering Lv 6, Handiwork Lv 5, and Medicine Production Lv 5, making it the go-to Pal for stacking food buffs.

Mammorest

Mammorest is one of the first large Pals you meet, appearing as an early boss, and it stays useful long after. It has a huge health pool, and its Heavyweight passive adds 20 percent defense while making it immune to knockback. Its Ground/Grass typing gives it access to heavy area moves like Grass Tornado and Solar Blast.

The Gaia Crusher partner skill turns it into a resource mount. While riding, Mining efficiency jumps by 500 to 2000 percent and logging by 220 to 500 percent. Base stats sit at Planting Lv 4, Lumbering Lv 4, and Mining Lv 4.

The Ivy-Covered burst combo: Elgrove and Silvance

Grass Pals frequently inflict the Ivy-Covered status on enemies, except on other Grass and Fire-types. Two Pals turn that status into a burst-damage engine that can chunk even Paladius and Necromus.

Elgrove

Elgrove is a tanky Pal that also applies Ivy-Covered through its Circle Vine move, which sets up the combo. Its Mother Nature’s Menace partner skill changes your attacks to Grass-type and raises your attack by 30 to 50 percent. Work suitability covers Planting Lv 3, Lumbering Lv 3, Transporting Lv 3, Gathering Lv 2, and Mining Lv 2, so it upgrades both your party and your base.

Silvance

Silvance is the detonator. Its Spore Stalwart partner skill causes any enemy afflicted with Ivy-Covered to explode for 40 to 60 percent of your attack damage when you hit them. Pairing it with Elgrove, and adding a Needoll to raise damage against Ivy-Covered targets, produces the devastating combo. Silvance also makes you and your Pals immune to the World Tree’s Explosive Spores, and it brings Medicine Production Lv 8, Handiwork Lv 6, and Planting Lv 6 to base work.

Best Grass Pals for base production

Dandilord

Dandilord holds the highest Planting stat of the bunch at Level 8, so a single one sharply raises crop output. It also rounds out the base with Handiwork Lv 6, Medicine Production Lv 6, Gathering Lv 5, and Transporting Lv 3.

Its Mist Stalwart partner skill adds Poison stacks (up to 6) to your attacks, dealing damage over 17 seconds and shutting down enemy health regeneration. As a Grass/Dark Pal, it also keeps you and your team immune to the toxic gas in the red zones of the World Tree area.

Elizabee

Elizabee scales with your team composition. Its Queen Bee Command partner skill raises Elizabee’s attack by 12 to 24 percent for every Beegarde in your party, so running two or three Beegarde alongside it makes it a strong early to mid-game attacker. Its work spread is even, with Planting Lv 4, Gathering Lv 4, Handiwork Lv 4, Medicine Production Lv 4, and Lumbering Lv 3.

If you would rather breed one than hunt it down, Elizabee can be produced from two Elizabee, from Mossanda and Pyrin Noct, or from Penking and Astegon.

If you can only commit to a couple of these, Lyleen and Dandilord cover the base side with the highest Planting values in the group, while Warsect and the Elgrove-plus-Silvance combo handle the heavy lifting in combat. Just remember to bench them whenever you walk into a Fire-type fight.
