Enshrouding Crystals are the currency at the center of the reworked Legion mechanic in Curse of the Allflame. They let you strip a modifier from one Unique item and pass it onto another Unique of the same type, and they are the only way to produce a Vestigial Unique. The catch is that each armour slot needs its own crystal, so you have to farm the correct one for the piece you want to change.
Quick answer: Kill Legion Generals to get the matching Enshrouding Crystal, right-click it onto a Unique of that slot to make it Enshrouded, then place the Enshrouded item in its crystal inside the Domain of Timeless Conflict and finish the encounter to receive a new Unique carrying the old one’s implicit.

What Enshrouding Crystals do
Applying an Enshrouding Crystal to a Unique converts it into an Enshrouded item. That version cannot be equipped or used normally, so treat the process as destructive. Once the Enshrouded item goes through the Domain of Timeless Conflict, one of its powerful properties transfers over to a new Unique of the same category as an implicit, with a chance for the value to be amplified.
Every armour slot is tied to a specific crystal, and the crystal you use decides which slot the mechanic works on. Belts do not take part in this system, since they count as accessories rather than armour.

Add to Google Preferences →Every Enshrouding Crystal and the General that drops it
Enshrouding Crystals drop from enemies inside the Legion encounter, but the crystal type is tied to the faction General you defeat. There are five warring factions, and beating a General is the only way to obtain a crystal, though the drop is not guaranteed.
| General | Crystal | Armour slot |
|---|---|---|
| Viper Napuatzi | Vaal Enshrouding Crystal | Helmets |
| Queen Hyrri Ngamaku | Karui Enshrouding Crystal | Gloves |
| Aukuna, the Black Sekhema | Maraketh Enshrouding Crystal | Body Armours |
| Cardinal Sanctus Vox | Templar Enshrouding Crystal | Shields |
| General Marceus Lioneye | Imperial Enshrouding Crystal | Boots |
How to farm Enshrouding Crystals in Legion
Legion encounters begin when you activate a Timeless Monolith, the large purple pillar that appears in maps. Interacting with it freezes two opposing armies in place and starts a timer.
By default the factions that spawn are random. You can bias the outcome through the Atlas Passive Tree, allocating nodes that favour a particular faction and raise the chance of a General leading it. That lets you target the specific crystal you need instead of relying on luck.
How to use an Enshrouding Crystal
You know it worked when the Enshrouded item is replaced by a fresh Unique of the same slot with the transferred implicit line. If nothing appears, the encounter has not charged the crystal enough yet, so the item stays in place until the run produces the required progress.
Limits on what you can create
The new Unique you receive can only come from the regular drop pool. Items outside that pool cannot appear as a result, so you will not roll something like Shaper’s Touch as the reward. You can, however, use an Enshrouding Crystal on Shaper’s Touch itself to pull one of its Unique modifiers and pass it onto a random Unique of the same type.
This is where the mechanic becomes powerful for niche builds. A property locked to a weak starter Unique can be moved onto a stronger base, which is exactly how players plan to make otherwise ignored stats worth building around. Farm the right crystal, sacrifice the item that carries the modifier you want, and let the Domain of Timeless Conflict rebuild it onto something you can actually equip.
