PEAK Well Rested Badge: How to Find and Eat the Early Worm

Track down the pink Early Worm in the GLOOM biome, eat it raw, and the badge unlocks the moment the animation ends.

Track down the pink Early Worm in the GLOOM biome, eat it raw, and the badge unlocks the moment the animation ends.

The Well Rested badge is one of the ten Final Ascent additions in PEAK, and it hinges on a single creature called the Early Worm. There is no puzzle or combat gate here. You just have to find a small pink worm, pick it up, and eat it. The catch is that the worm lives deep in the GLOOM biome, spawns in a random spot, and blends into the dark ground.

Quick answer: Reach the GLOOM biome, spot the small pink Early Worm crawling in a tight circle on the ground, press the pickup button, then hold Left-Click to eat it raw. The Well Rested badge unlocks the instant the eating animation finishes.

What you need before you start

The Early Worm only appears in the GLOOM, which is the fourth biome counting from the Shore. That means you have to climb through the earlier areas first before the hunt even begins. The GLOOM is dark, filled with enemies, and applies a sleep effect that can kill your Scout if you ignore it, so bring the right gear.

Two items make the search far safer. A candlestick or other light source helps you spot the pink worm against the murky terrain, and the Belltowers scattered through the GLOOM let you ring away the sleep effect while you comb the ground. Ring a bell before your fatigue climbs too high, because sleep damage can end the run.

How to find and eat the Early Worm

Descend into the GLOOM and search the ground carefully. The worm does not use fixed coordinates and the map resets on its daily cycle, so treat every run as a fresh search. Angle your camera downward and scan around rocks, reeds, and hot dog plants, stopping whenever you catch a tiny pink shape looping in a circle.

Walk up to the worm until the pickup prompt appears, then press your interact button (E on keyboard) to place it in your hand. It behaves like a normal item and slots into your inventory bar. Do not try to cook it, since cooking is not part of the requirement.
With the worm held, hold Left-Click (the eat action, shown as 1 on the held-item menu) to consume it. A circular progress bar fills as the eating animation plays. Let it complete without interruption.
The Well Rested badge unlocks the moment the animation ends. You will see the badge notification, which confirms the objective is done. If nothing pops, make sure you actually ate the worm rather than dropping or throwing it.

What eating the worm does

Beyond the badge, the Early Worm doubles as a survival item. Eating it fills your hunger bar and clears the sleep effect completely, which is genuinely useful in a biome designed to wear you down. It does not heal injuries, so treat it as a fatigue-and-hunger reset rather than a full recovery.

Playing in a squad and common mistakes

Early runs point to a single Early Worm per expedition. If you are climbing with friends and everyone wants the badge, only one player can eat it each run, so plan on replaying the GLOOM until each Scout gets a turn.

The mistakes that cost people the badge are usually simple. Searching outside the GLOOM wastes time, since the worm never spawns in earlier biomes. Relying on a spot where someone found it before does not help, because the location is random each run. And expecting it to fix injuries or trying to cook it first will only slow you down. Pick it up, eat it raw, and the Well Rested badge is yours.
