PEAK: How to Earn the Bellringer Badge by Ringing 5 Belltowers in the GLOOM

Ring five Belltowers under the mist in one run to unlock the badge and its Frog Hat reward.

Ring five Belltowers under the mist in one run to unlock the badge and its Frog Hat reward.

The Bellringer Badge is one of the ten achievements added to PEAK with The Final Ascent update, and it lives entirely inside the GLOOM. The task is simple to describe and awkward to execute. You need to find and ring five Belltowers in a single expedition, all while the misty water fights your visibility and enemies try to knock you off course.

Quick answer: Ring 5 Belltowers in the GLOOM biome during one uninterrupted run. Belltowers sit under the mist, and interacting with one (hold E) clears the surrounding Gloom and stops the sleep effect. Reach five, and the badge unlocks, granting the Frog Hat.

Where the Bellringer Badge is earned

The GLOOM is the fourth biome in the current order, arriving after SHORE, ROOTS, and ALPINE, and it sits just before The Citadel. It is a horizontal biome rather than a climb. Instead of scaling walls, you swim and wade through a thick purple mist that behaves like the lava equivalent from the Caldera, except you actually have to enter it to cross.

Belltowers are wooden structures found under the mist. Ringing one lights the top of the tower with a purple flame and instantly clears the Gloom around it, which is why they double as both a badge objective and a survival tool. The badge counts toward a single expedition, so all five rings must happen before you leave the biome or wipe.

How to find and ring 5 Belltowers

Enter the GLOOM and orient yourself before diving. Face the direction of the next island above the mist and keep that heading in your head, since frogs can spin you around and make it easy to lose your bearings.

Dive beneath the surface and look for a wooden tower. When you get close, a “BELLTOWER” prompt appears with a circular meter. Hold E to ring it. The top ignites with a purple flame, and the mist around you clears.
Use the small white pointing statues to find the next tower. These statues sit on rocky islands, and their outstretched arm indicates the direction of another Belltower. Dive the way the statue points and follow it to the next lit tower.
Repeat until the counter reaches five. Surface between towers to shed the sleep effect and reset your visibility, then re-enter the mist and continue toward the next objective. Ringing the fifth tower in the same run completes the badge.

Note: The sleep effect builds on your stamina bar while you are inside the Gloom and lowers the maximum stamina you can hold. It fades quickly once you leave the mist, so short surfaces between towers keep it manageable.

Threats that can end your run

Because the badge requires a single expedition, being knocked out resets your progress. Two enemies and one hazard are the main reasons a run falls apart before you reach five towers.

ThreatWhat it doesHow to handle it
FrogsPull you toward them with their tongue if you are in line of sight and within range, even outside the mist. You usually end up at the bottom of the biome.Listen for the directional croaking to locate them, then break line of sight and re-orient before continuing.
GhostA cloud that moves toward you and explodes on contact, throwing you far and stacking heavy freeze on your stamina bar.Trigger the explosion and escape its radius fast. A nearby Belltower or a Candlestick removes the ghost.
Spike fencesOnly appear inside the mist. You stick to them briefly and take constant damage if you try to move while stuck.Watch for them while swimming and route around; avoid being thrown into one by a frog or ghost.

Items that make the Belltower run easier

Since you are not climbing, anything that helps you ascend faster is wasted here. Prioritize items that keep you alive in the mist and let you cover long stretches of water.

  • Faerie Lanterns and Cure-All clear the sleep, freeze, and other effects, which keeps you from being eliminated if you get stuck in the Gloom.
  • An Energy Drink helps you push across a big stretch of mist, but it stacks a lot of sleep, so use it with care.
  • A Parasol lets you glide briefly before dropping into the water, and a Jetpack can carry you over the Gloom entirely at times.
  • A Rescue Claw moves you from one island to another without entering the mist when the distance allows.
  • A Candlestick keeps the Gloom at bay and can also burn up a ghost that gets too close.

How to confirm the badge unlocked

The badge registers the moment you ring your fifth Belltower in the same run, and it can be earned on any difficulty except Custom. Completing it awards the Frog Hat cosmetic. If it does not trigger, the usual cause is progress being split across runs. Every ring must land in one expedition, so a wipe or leaving the GLOOM before you reach five resets the count and you start over from zero on your next attempt.

Plan your route, surface often to manage the sleep effect, and treat every tower you light as a safe pocket in the mist. Five rings later, the Bellringer Badge and its Frog Hat are yours before you move on to The Citadel.
