Where the Ritual Dagger spawns
The Ritual Dagger comes from Ancient Idols and Ancient Luggage, and only inside co-op games. Even then, the drop is a random chance, so you may need to open several containers before one appears.
Ancient Luggage shows up often in the later biomes, particularly GLOOM and THE CITADEL, which makes those areas the most reliable place to hunt for the dagger. Grab it as soon as the pickup prompt appears.
How the Ritual Dagger works
Using the dagger on a teammate turns them to stone and sometimes shatters them, killing them instantly. In exchange, you fully restore your own health and clear your ailments, including hunger and burning. That healing effect is exactly why the badge asks you to be near death first.

Beyond the accolade, the Ritual Dagger has a genuine use on hard co-op climbs. If your whole team is starving and injured, sacrificing one player to survive the biome and reach an Ancient Idol beats losing everyone, since you can revive them at the top.
