The long bridge to the Thieves' Camp, Phantom Blade Zero

Quick answer: Once the Crimson Forest camp has turned, defeat the enemy about 38 m from the Thieves’ Camp bell to get it. Then give it to the Wounded Thief in the Village of Lu, about 43 m from the Hidden Passage to Pangzhen bell, for Arrowward.

Where to find the Thief’s Manual

The manual is part of a quest chain, so the order matters. Talk to the Wounded Thief first to start Leave None Alive. The tale’s objective reads “Give the thief’s relic to his companion”.

Speak with the Wounded Thief in the Village of Lu to begin Leave None Alive. The tale list will then show the objective to deliver the thief’s relic.
Travel to the Thieves’ Camp in the Crimson Forest. The manual only appears there once the camp has turned.

Defeat the enemy positioned roughly 38 m from the Thieves’ Camp bell. The Thief’s Manual is its drop.

Who to give the Thief’s Manual to

Take the manual back to the Wounded Thief in the Village of Lu, about 43 m from the Hidden Passage to Pangzhen bell. When the dialogue opens, choose the thief’s relic option.

You know it worked when he takes the manual. He does not survive the scene, and you receive Arrowward. Its card effect reads “Reduces ranged damage and Sha-Chi depletion taken by 20%.”

The tale also has another relic to hand in: take Huijue’s relic to the Kuye Temple monk, roughly 8 m from the Survivors’ Courtyard bell, and select “Huijue’s relics”.

Finish the thief’s part of the tale before you go down the Village of Lu well. Entering that well fails the tale’s thief steps, which makes the hand-in one of the game’s missables.

What the Thief’s Manual card says

Thief's Manual item card, Phantom Blade Zero

The item card for THIEF’S MANUAL reads, in full:

“A thief’s keepsake, a thin booklet crudely bound with coarse thread. The cover is of tanned, unmarked sheepskin. Within, the pages have yellowed and grown brittle, their edges scorched and stained. Strangely, they bear no trace of insect damage, perhaps preserved by an herbal treatment. On the first page, five large characters give its title: “Seizing Hand.””
