The Deildegast is one of the newest entities in Phasmophobia, added on July 21, 2026 alongside the reworked 13 Willow Street map. It stands out because it starts each contract fast and gets slower as players move things around, so identifying it comes down to reading both its evidence and its speed.
Quick answer: Confirm a Deildegast by capturing EMF Level 5, Ghost Writing, and a D.O.T.S. Projector sighting, then watch for a ghost that moves fast at the start of the contract and slows down as you throw more objects around the house.
Deildegast evidence in Phasmophobia
The Deildegast leaves three official pieces of evidence. On standard difficulties you can gather all three, but weekly challenges or custom games may hide one, so you may need to lean on its behavior to finish the identification.

| Evidence | How to capture it |
|---|---|
| EMF Level 5 | Carry an EMF Reader through the ghost’s favorite room and wait for interactions. Any ghost can trigger a reading, so only a full Level 5 result counts as evidence. |
| Ghost Writing | Drop a Ghost Writing Book in or near the favorite room and wait for the ghost to draw or write in it. Only ghosts with this evidence type can mark the book. |
| D.O.T.S. Projector | Place a D.O.T.S. Projector in the favorite room and watch for the ghost’s silhouette moving through the beams, either in person or on a video camera feed. |

Add to Google Preferences →How the Deildegast’s speed works
The defining trait of this ghost is its speed. The Deildegast fixates on misplaced objects, so the more items get thrown around, the slower it becomes during hunts.
- Its base speed is 3.0 meters per second, close to a Revenant, which is why it feels dangerous at the start of a contract.
- Each unique object moved or thrown lowers its speed by 0.1 m/s, down to a floor of 0.4 m/s.
- Reaching that minimum speed takes roughly 30 moved items.
- It does not accelerate with line of sight, so it never speeds up just because it can see you during a hunt.
The slowdown counts objects that are part of the house, not your own equipment. The tally is based on the unique props thrown between the end of the previous hunt (or the start of the contract) and the beginning of the current one. Every player counts, including dead teammates, so a ghost that seems fast early but crawls after you and your team have littered the floor is a strong Deildegast tell.
Note: the speed reduction resets each hunt. If you clear a hunt and stop moving items, the ghost returns toward its base 3.0 m/s, so you need to keep throwing objects before the next hunt to keep it slow.
Behavior and clues to confirm it
Beyond the three evidence types, a few patterns help you separate a Deildegast from other fast ghosts, which is useful when a difficulty hides one piece of evidence.
- It has the upper hand early. At the start of a contract nothing has slowed it, so its journal strength lists it as being ahead at the beginning of an investigation.
- It can hide and stay quiet longer than most ghosts. Repositioning objects around the area can provoke activity when things go still.
- It sometimes slows itself down by throwing things on its own.
- Its weakness is that both the living and the dead can slow it, which is unusual and means downed teammates can still weaken it by moving props.
Steps to identify a Deildegast
The Deildegast has an increased chance to appear for a few weeks after its release, so you should get plenty of chances to practice reading its speed. If the room fails those checks, other tricky ghosts like the Aswang, Kormos, Obambo, Gallu, or Dayan may be what you are dealing with instead.
