Project Slayers 2: How to Get the Nightfall Katana Schematic

The Nightfall Katana is not sold by any weapon vendor in Slayers 2. Rays, the sword merchant, only stocks regular and fancy swords, so the only way into the Nightfall line is to find the schematic yourself and forge the blade later. It sits in a sealed ice cave beneath the waterfalls just outside Mistfall Harbor, and picking it up takes about a minute once you know the swim route.

Quick answer: Teleport to the Mistfall Harbor Shrine, drop off the cliff into the water past the docks, swim east under the waterfall into the hidden cave, climb the ledge, and press T on the frozen katana.

Nightfall Katana Schematic: Location and item details

The pickup is an ice-encased sword on a stone pedestal, labelled Nightfall Katana Study in the interaction prompt. It sits inside a cave that can only be reached by swimming, in the Slayers Crossing area south of Mistfall Harbor, underneath the log bridge that spans the waterfall.

The item description reads: “Plans for a long blade, inked so dark the edge can only be found by tilting the page.” There is no puzzle, no boss and no key involved, which makes this the fastest of the Nightfall schematics to collect.

Route to the hidden cave from the Mistfall Harbor Shrine

Fast travel to the Mistfall Harbor Shrine. If you have not unlocked it yet, run the village path toward the large red torii gate and cross the long wooden bridge into the harbor to register the shrine first.

From the shrine, head down to the docks and keep moving forward past them until the cliff edge and the waterfalls come into view. On the map you should be sitting at Slayers Crossing, just below the log that crosses the water.

Dive off the cliff into the pool below the waterfall. The fall is safe, and you land in the open water that connects to the cave entrance.

Swim east until the waterfall is on your right, then turn into it and swim under the falling water. Behind the curtain is an underwater tunnel that runs beneath the cliffs into a cove.

Switch to first person while swimming. Visibility under the waterfall is poor in third person and it is easy to overshoot the tunnel mouth.

Surface inside the cave pool and wall-climb the stone ledges. Two short climbs put you on a flat platform where the pedestal sits.

Walk up to the sword frozen in ice and press T when the Nightfall Katana Study prompt appears. The schematic is awarded instantly.

How to confirm the schematic is in your inventory

Open the menu, select Shop, then Inventory, and switch to the Schematics tab. The Nightfall Katana Schematic should be listed there with a Mythic tag and the description about the dark-inked blade plans. If the tab is empty, you did not land the interaction and need to return to the pedestal and press T again.

Schematics are account-side items, so once it registers you can leave the cave freely. The quickest exit is to jump back into the cave pool and swim out through the same tunnel; climbing the rock walls back up to the log above the waterfall also works if you want to return to the harbor on foot.

What the schematic unlocks next

Holding the schematic does not give you the weapon. It unlocks the recipe, and you still need the crafting materials to forge it, with Mythic refinement ores used on the V2 and Nightfall line. Gather those before heading to a forge so you are not making a second trip.

The Nightfall Katana is one of seven Nightfall schematics scattered across the map, and each one uses a different method. The Claws sit underwater near the Yeti spawn, the Scythe is hidden in a cave under the Wind Breathing Trainer’s platform, and the Sickle requires pulling all ten hidden levers before its door opens. The Katana is the one worth grabbing first, simply because the route is short and nothing gates it.
