After Emily Fray, the Farmer, has settled at your base, she gives you the Reclaim The Wilderness quest. Your task is to ascend the Ancient Spire in Revelwood and commune with the Flame. Completing it unlocks a fast travel point in a new region and adds fresh points of interest to your map.

Quick answer: Accept the quest from Emily Fray, travel northwest to the Ancient Spire in Revelwood, climb its three floors by shooting the glowing wall switches, then commune with the Flame on the roof. It rewards 200 XP.

What to bring before you leave

The trip to Revelwood is one of the harder early-game journeys, so pack for it before setting out. Prepare the following:

  • Raise your Flame to Level 3.
  • Carry a Glider or Advanced Glider for the gaps and drops along the way.
  • If you don’t already have one, set up a forward Altar at Ancient Vault – Farmer.
  • Sleep and stock up on food and water, and travel in daylight.
  • Bring a bow with arrows, or a staff with Fireball or Ice Bolt charges, to hit the switches inside the spire.

Investing 2 skill points in Double Jump makes reaching the climb and scaling it much easier. It grants a second jump in midair, with each extra jump costing 10 Stamina.

If you are still deciding between gliders, here is how the two compare.

GliderRangeSpeedItem level
Glider100%105
Advanced Glider150%1510

Both drain 4 Stamina per second in the air. The Advanced Glider is the lighter of the two and covers noticeably more distance, which helps across Revelwood’s chasms.

Route to the Revelwood Ancient Spire

Set out north from Ancient Vault – Farmer toward Willow Crush. Begin at the respawn orb outside the vault, circle around its west side, pass through Withered Encampment, and take the road north.

Travel through Willow Crush and cross the bridge toward Revelwood. After passing the ruined wall into town, stay close to the right side and head north. At the Shrouded crevasse, veer left and trace its edge until you arrive at the bridge.
Proceed over the bridge. At the first broad gap, descend to the lower level, leap across, and climb the ladder on your right. From the middle section, don’t jump to the northern span; jump northeast and glide onto the island instead. Then take a running jump north across the last gap and carefully loop around the bridgehouse, passing its east side and then its north side. Remain on the bridge and you’ll face at least two Green Meanies.
Head toward the spire, now easy to spot to your northeast. Follow the clifftop north, then east, until you reach the rock face northeast of the Carpentry Camp. Drop directly to your right, deploying the glider just before landing to soften the fall. Continue north beside the rock wall; the entrance is on the spire’s north side.

Climbing the spire floor by floor

Floor 1

Step onto the ground-level teleporter pad to enter Floor 1. Time your movement past the bouncing fireballs in the corridors, press the wall switch buttons to raise the iron gate, then reach the teleporter pad to move up.

Floor 2

Cross the spike-floor hallway carefully. Shoot the glowing wall emblem to open a door, climb the wire mesh, and glide across to an elevated alcove holding a chest with a Wisp of Light. Hit the further switch targets to open the gated side room, where a golden chest holds the Infernal Wand.

Once both chests are clear, shoot the emblem mounted high above the rear gate to open the teleporter to Floor 3.

Floor 3 and the summit

Avoid the flame traps in the floor, and shoot the overhead targets near the ceiling to open the gates. A chest containing the Valiant Shield is in a side passage. At the hall’s far end, shoot the target above the last gate to activate the teleporter to the roof.

Interact with the flame pedestal at the center of the open roof to commune with the Flame. This charts the surrounding region and finishes the objective.

Chest loot inside the spire

Two weapons and a consumable sit inside the spire chests. Their stats are below.

ItemTypeKey statsRarity
Infernal WandMage wandOvercharge 15%, Attack Speed 0.6s, Mana Regeneration 6Common
Valiant ShieldWarrior off handParry Power 1, Power Parry 1Rare
Wisp of LightConsumable flask10 minute duration, stacks to 20Rare

Infernal Wand deals Fire damage and carries the Mana Leech 4 and Mana Currents 1 perks. Its Overcharge property gives attacks a chance to deal bonus damage. The item level scales from 1 to 55, so the roll you pull up matches your progress.

Valiant Shield is a Warrior off-hand piece at item level 10 with the Power Parry 1 perk. It can also be crafted at the Blacksmith once your Flame reaches Level 3 and you build under a roof.

Using Wisp of Light summons a luminous wisp to brighten dark areas for 10 minutes. After you pick up a Mortar, the Alchemist can make one beneath a roof.

How to confirm the quest is done

When you commune with the Flame on the roof, the screen shows “NEW LOCATION CHARTED!” and adds markers to your map, and the Revelwood location registers as reached. The Journal entry for Reclaim The Wilderness clears, and you receive 200 XP. From that point you can fast travel to the spire and start exploring the new points of interest it revealed.
