Rex Infernus: How to Get the Twins Mask in Black Ops 7 Zombies

Clear all three forest toy trials twice, once normal and once on the harder red versions, to unlock the lightning ammo mod mask.

The Twins Mask is a hidden reward buried in the forest of Rex Infernus, the final Black Ops 7 Zombies map. Earning it means surviving three children’s minigames run by the ghost twins, then doing all three again on a nastier difficulty. Once equipped, the mask periodically calls down lightning that wipes out nearby zombies while you keep firing normally.

Quick answer: Progress the Wonder Weapon quest until you can reach the Nyxara Inner Sanctum, hit at least Round 8, start the toy quest at the music box near the destroyed house, and beat the Teddy Bear, Clown Mask, and Rope challenges once each (yellow toys), then repeat all three on the red versions. Claim the mask from the Nyxara Inner Sanctum.

Requirements before you start the toy quest

Two things gate this side quest. You need to have progressed the map’s Wonder Weapon quest far enough to unlock the Nyxara Inner Sanctum, and you need to be on Round 8 or higher. Crafting the Wonder Weapon itself is not required, but you do need the access the quest opens up.

Everything after that happens in the forest zone, the same patch of trees the main quest uses for its own objectives. Because rewards along the way scale with the round you finish on, it is worth getting perks, armor, and ideally the upgraded Warden’s Blight before you commit, since the challenges pull you into small spaces while zombies keep spawning.

Start the quest at Samantha’s music box

Head into the forest and find the stump next to the destroyed house. A music box belonging to Samantha Maxis sits there. Interact with it once to begin the quest. Nothing dramatic happens immediately, which is normal.
You cannot continue on the same round. Advance to the next round, return to the forest, and a toy chest will now be present. Open it to reveal the three toys, each of which starts its own separate challenge.

Only one challenge can be activated and completed per round, so you will spread the three trials across several rounds. Clear a horde before you start any of them, since some challenges spawn enemies that can down you mid-attempt.

The three normal challenges (yellow toys)

There is no required order. Pick a toy from the chest, complete its challenge, get ejected with a small reward, then advance a round and return for the next one. Repeat until all three yellow versions are done.

ChallengeWhat you doFail condition
Teddy BearGrab all the glowing blue and purple toys scattered through the forest as fast as possibleGhostly clones of your own character hunt you and can knock you out if you slow down
Clown MaskA speed hide-and-seek where you locate the hidden twins several times back to backRunning out the timer before finding them all
RopeJump over a moving rope that changes speedTaking three hits ends the attempt

The ghost duplicates during the Teddy Bear trial are not decorative. They can down you even while a horde is active, so keep your surroundings clear the whole time you are collecting.

Mid-quest rewards and how they scale

After clearing the first set of challenges, collect your rewards from the Nyxara Inner Sanctum. What you get depends on the round you finish on, and higher rounds pay noticeably better.

Round completedReported reward
Teen roundsStreak perk and Self-Revive Kit
Round 20 and beyondGolden wrench, Ray Gun, and a free perk

Waiting for a higher round clearly pays off, but the mask itself only drops after a second, harder phase, so do not treat the first reward as the finish line.

The hard versions (red toys)

Go back to the forest and the toy chest is still there. Interact with it again and the same three toys reappear, except they now glow red instead of yellow. This is the second phase, with the same challenges cranked up.

  • Teddy Bear adds more toys to collect in the same limited time.
  • Rope drops to a stricter two-hit limit and throws a slow rope and a fast rope at you at the same time.
  • Clown Mask keeps the same hide-and-seek format with tighter execution.

As with the first phase, you can only start one challenge per round, so budget several rounds to finish all three red trials.

Claim the Twins Mask and confirm it worked

Clear all three red challenges and the Twins Mask becomes available, alongside another round-scaled reward. Head back to the Nyxara Inner Sanctum to pick it up and equip it. If the mask is sitting in the Sanctum for you to retrieve, the hard phase registered correctly.

With the mask on, keep shooting zombies as usual. Every so often the twins strike down with a bolt of lightning that kills every zombie in the immediate area. You will see the effect trigger on its own during combat, so there is no button to press. The one catch is timing, which is inconsistent. It shines against a packed horde and feels wasted when it fires on a couple of stragglers.

The Twins Mask is one of several masks tucked into Rex Infernus, so if you are hunting the full set, this forest quest is a good one to clear early and stack alongside the House and grapple-course masks. Community testing is still settling exact spawn timing and reward tables, but the sequence above, the music box, the yellow toys, then the red toys, is the confirmed path to the lightning mask.
