Roblox Adopt Me: How to Get Copycat

Copycat is a limited Legendary pet from Adopt Me’s Halloween event, added in the Week 3 update on October 16th. It is a cat with a question mark on its face and a random Polymorph ability that makes it look like other pets for a while. You can’t earn it with Candy Corn. You can’t earn it from Stitches’ Spotlight minigame or from the Hotel’s lost-items quest either. There are only two ways to get one.

Quick answer: Buy Copycat for Robux at its offer in the Halloween Manor area, or trade another player for one. No free in-game method exists.

The price is in Robux, not Candy Corn. Spending 600 Candy Corn, or any amount of it, won’t get you the pet. Grinding Ghost Gallery, Hauntlet 2, or the new minigame also does nothing toward Copycat. Those activities only pay for the Candy Corn pets from the same week, such as Stitches (70,000 Candy Corn) and Boohoo (32,000 Candy Corn).

Copycat has shown up with two different prices. The in-world offer lists 600 Robux, but one Roblox purchase prompt has displayed 480 Robux. The amount in the final Roblox purchase window is what you’ll be charged, so check it before you confirm.

How to buy Copycat with Robux

This is the fastest route if you have the Robux. You don’t need any quest progress, event currency, or minigame clears first.

Go to the Halloween area and cross the bridge past Count Slothula. The Copycat display is inside the Ghost Gallery building in the Manor area.

Walk up to the Copycat display and open its prompt. It reads “Unlocks the Legendary polymorphing Copycat pet!” and lists the Robux price. Make sure you’re looking at Copycat and not one of the Candy Corn pets nearby.

Select the offer to open the Roblox “Buy Robux and Item” window. Check the Robux amount, then confirm the purchase.

Open your Backpack and look for Copycat listed as a Legendary pet. If it’s there, the purchase worked. It will also appear in your Journal.

How to get Copycat by trading (no Robux)

Every Copycat that doesn’t come from the Robux offer comes from another player, so trading is the only no-Robux option. Right now Copycat is valued at about the same level as a regular Legendary, close to Phoenix and Guardian Lion, and demand for it is very high. Launch-week values change fast, so look up the current number before you make an offer.

Open the Search Trades menu and type Copycat. This shows public listings from players who already own one.

Look at what those players are asking for. Then post your own offer using pets that roughly match Copycat’s value. Event pets like Stitches or a Skelicorn work well and keep you from giving up high-tier pets you’ll regret losing.

Once someone accepts, open the trade window. Check that your pets are under You Give and Copycat is under They Give, then accept.

Some players use trade chat to compliment your outfit and offer to turn it into an art piece on Discord. That’s a scam built around getting you to download a malicious file. Decline and move on.

Checking you received a real Copycat

Polymorph is random and temporary. It changes Copycat’s model into another pet for a limited time and then switches it back. A Copycat that currently looks like a Bat Dragon is still a Copycat. Polymorph never adds the copied pet to anyone’s inventory, and you can’t choose which pet it turns into.

This matters most when you trade. A Copycat’s appearance tells you nothing about what it actually is. Before you accept, read the pet’s name in the trading interface instead of trusting the model you see. Going the other way, if someone offers a “rare pet” that turns out to be a disguised Copycat, the trade window will show its real identity.

After a trade goes through, check your Backpack the same way you would after buying with Robux. Copycat should be listed by name as a Legendary pet. Copycat is a limited event pet, and the Halloween event is set to wrap on October 31st. After that, trading will likely be the only way left to get one.
