Roblox Heavyweight Fishing: How to Get All Skills (Best Skills)

Where to buy skills, how the Taiji and Egoless banners and their pity system work, and which picks earn a slot.

Skills are the difference between losing a heavy fish at the last second and dragging a sea boss onto the dock. In Heavyweight Fishing, they come from two completely separate places, and they cost two completely different currencies. Knowing which one to spend on saves you hours of grinding Cash you did not need to grind.

Quick answer: Talk to the NPC Sage Yijiu and buy skills with in-game Cash from the Learn Skill menu, then spend Tickets or Crystals on the Taiji Banner or Egoless Banner for the rare ones. Equip anything you own from the character menu in slots that unlock at Levels 20, 50, 80, 110, and 140.

The two skill sources, side by side

Everything in the game’s skill pool sits behind one of these two systems. Shop skills are guaranteed purchases with fixed prices. Banner skills are random rolls with a pity counter behind them.

Buy skills from Sage Yijiu

Find Sage Yijiu in the hub area and walk up to him until the interaction prompt appears. Press the Talk key to start the conversation.

Open the Learn Skill menu from his dialogue. This is the full shop list, from the 100-Cash starter stomp all the way up to the six-figure boss killers.
Pick a skill and confirm the purchase. It is added to your account immediately and shows up in the character menu, whether or not you have a free slot for it yet.

Note: the separate Shop button sells Robux bundles and gamepasses, like the Kun Bundle at 800. That storefront is not where skills live, so do not go looking for Phoenix Strike Art in there.

Summon rare skills on the Taiji and Egoless banners

The strongest effects in the game are not for sale. Stuns that lock a fish for ten seconds, immunity to boss skills, and huge temporary Power boosts all come out of the gacha.

Open the Summon menu and pick a banner. The Taiji Banner and the Egoless Banner each have their own pool and their own pity counter.
Choose a single Summon or the x10 Summon, then pay with Tickets or Crystals. Both currencies work, so spend whichever one you have stockpiled.

Keep an eye on your summon count. The pity system pays out on a schedule, so a long dry streak is still progress toward a guaranteed drop.

Banner skills you may see include Vajra Godcast, Shangqing Realm, Heaven’s Burden, Demon Mountainbreaker, Tiger’s Hunt, Whirlwind Fishing Art, Ruinous Sacrifice, Taijiquan Technique, Leopard Lock, Iron Grip Art, and Dual Sonic Kick.

Equip skills in the character menu

Owning a skill does nothing on its own. Open the character menu and drop each one into a slot, and remember that slots are gated by account level rather than by anything you can buy.

You know it worked when the skill icon sits inside the slot in the character menu and appears on your hotbar during a reel fight. If a slot will not accept anything, it is still level-locked, not bugged.

Best skills to equip right now

Best Cash purchases

Phoenix Strike Art is the top shop pick for boss fights and heavy fish, with One-Strike Heaven Gate as the finisher that closes a catch before the tension bar turns against you. A common endgame setup runs both alongside a reel-control option such as Reel Sprint or Skybreaker Technique.

Early on, grab Skyfall Stomp at 100 Cash purely to fill your first slot, then move to Dragon-Fish at 5k and Reel Sprint at 2k as soon as you can afford them. C-tier skills are placeholders, not investments, so do not sink savings into upgrading them.

Best banner rolls

Vajra Godcast, Heaven’s Burden, and Ruinous Sacrifice are the standout pulls from the two banners. Their value comes from the utility bolted onto the damage.

SkillEffect
Vajra GodcastImmune to boss skill damage, stuns for 7s, then deals 50% of current damage after 5s
Heaven’s BurdenImmune to boss skill damage, stuns for 10s, heals 25 HP, damage every second
Ruinous SacrificeImmune to boss skill damage, +999 rod Power for 10s, drains 20 HP per second
Shangqing RealmBypasses boss invincibility and stuns for 4s
Whirlwind Fishing ArtImmune to boss skill damage with a 12s stun
Tiger’s Hunt+30 rod Power for 15s with damage per second

Tip: Traits are rolled onto skills separately and stack on top of these effects. The three best ones, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, and Black Tortoise, sit at a 0.1% reroll chance, so save rerolls for a skill you already plan to keep.

Get free Tickets and Crystals from codes

Summons are the expensive part of the skill system, and codes are the cheapest way to fund them. Press the Code button on the left of the screen, paste a code into the text box, and hit the green Redeem button. Working codes pay out instantly.

Most codes carry a level requirement. The visit milestone codes such as 33MVisits hand out Tickets, Crystals, and Trait Rerolls at Level 50, while 13KActives is a much larger payout locked behind Level 200. One skill, Bac Minh Technique, was given away through the BacMinh code, which no longer redeems.

If a code is rejected, the usual causes are a typo, wrong capitalization, an account below the level requirement, or an expired code. A brand new code that fails can sometimes work after rejoining, since that puts you on a server running an updated build.

The practical route is the boring one. Buy the cheap shop skills early so every slot you unlock is doing something, bank Tickets and Crystals from codes rather than spending them on impulse rolls, and put your Cash toward One-Strike Heaven Gate and then Phoenix Strike Art. Everything else is refinement once your loadout can already survive a sea boss.
