Roblox Race Horses: How to Start and Win Your First Race

The opening loop in Race Horses, from a $400 Common Egg to stable upgrades, race payouts, and working codes.

Race Horses drops you into a grassy stable yard with a tutorial popup, a little cash, and no horse. The loop underneath it is simple and repeats forever: buy an egg, hatch it, stuff the resulting horse with fruit until it levels up, send it to a race, collect the payout, and spend that money on bigger eggs and a bigger stable.

Quick answer: Buy a Common Egg for $400, drop it on your stable floor, press E to hatch it once the timer ends, feed it apples, then enter a race from the Choose A Horse board.

First five minutes: egg to first race payout

Clear the “Welcome to Race Horses!” popup with the green Continue button. The tutorial then points you at the shop stall with the EGGS sign.
Walk up to the stall and press E to open the Egg Shop. Buy the Common Egg for $400, which is the only tier you can afford at the start.
Carry the egg back to your dirt pen and drop it on the stable floor. Eggs only incubate once they are placed, and a countdown appears above them.
Press E on the egg when the timer finishes. It cracks open into a named horse with a perk attached, such as a Wisehorse with +30% XP Gain.
Follow the tutorial arrows to the apple tree, harvest red apples, and feed them to your horse in the pen. A handful of apples is enough to push a fresh horse several levels in under a minute.
Open the Choose A Horse interface and sign your horse up for the next race. Each event has a name like The Duke’s Charge or The Alpha’s Derby, and a countdown before the gates open.

Keep feeding while the countdown runs, then watch the race. Fields are eight runners deep, and the results screen shows your finishing position, your cash reward, and any levels gained during the run.

Egg Shop prices and horse perks

Every horse you own comes out of an egg, and the egg tier decides the rarity you can pull. The stall restocks instantly, so the only limit is your cash.

EggPrice
Common Egg$400
Uncommon Egg$3,000
Rare Egg$15,000

Epic eggs sit further along the shop list once you can afford them. Rare eggs are worth saving for beyond raw stats, because the stable upgrade path eventually demands a Rare or better horse on your roster.

Perks are rolled with the horse and shown on the hatch screen. Two you will see early:

  • Wisehorse — +30% XP Gain, so it levels faster per apple.
  • Workhorse — +40% Cash Multiplier on race earnings.

Feeding fruit and reading the stat card

Leveling is entirely fruit-driven. The trees in the central field regrow apples constantly, and you can hold up to 10 apples at a time before you have to walk back and empty your inventory into a horse. Carrots work the same way and are handy for topping a horse up to Level 5 quickly.

Open a horse’s stat card to see where it stands. The card tracks Races, Wins, Top 3 finishes, and Fruit Eaten, which is the quickest way to tell whether a horse has actually been fed or has just been sitting in the pen.

Race entries have downtime, so gather apples while a horse is out on the track instead of standing around watching the run.

Race payouts, tracks, and cooldowns

Prize money scales with the event and your finishing position, not just with winning. Mid-pack results still pay, which is why entering every race you can is better than holding a horse back. Here is how typical finishes cash out:

Horseback Dash1st$10,786
The Duke’s Charge1st of 8$4,917
The Racer’s Chase3rd$4,263
The Great Rush3rd of 8$3,348
The Sigma’s Dash2nd of 8$3,198
The Alpha’s Derby2nd of 8$2,448
The Donkey’s Charge3rd of 8$1,965

Courses vary between dirt ovals, green turf with wooden hurdle jumps, and a beach track used by events like Prince’s Rush. Your horse handles the running itself once the gates open.

After a race, the horse goes on cooldown and sleeps in the stable — roughly four to five minutes before it shows as available again on the Choose A Horse list. That gap is the real reason to own more than one horse.

Stable upgrade requirements

Your stable caps how many horses you can keep at once, and upgrading it also boosts what races pay. The menu lists both the cash cost and the roster conditions you must meet first.

UpgradeRequirementsCost
Level 1 → 2Two horses at Level 5+$2,000
Level 2 → 3Three horses at Level 10+, one Rare or better$12,000

The first upgrade raises capacity to two horses and applies a 1.15x race multiplier to your earnings. Because the level requirements are the slow part, feed your second and third horses up to the threshold before you worry about the cash.

Free tools: sponge, shovel, and stable chores

The Tool Shop vendor booth hands out both of its starting tools at no cost. Pick them up on your first run through the yard — there is no reason to delay it.

  • Sponge (free) — scrubs dirt off a muddy horse, restoring happiness and awarding bonus XP.
  • Shovel (free) — scoops horse droppings from the paddock, which you dump in the trash bin for cash.

The game prompts you when a horse is dirty or the pen needs cleaning, so both tools slot neatly into the waiting time between races.

Retiring horses for cash

The Retire A Horse booth lists every horse you own alongside its individual sell value. Selling is how you clear a slot when your stable is full and a Common starter is no longer pulling its weight.

Retirement values are low compared with race winnings — an early Common horse can sell for as little as $390 — so retire only when you genuinely need the slot, not for income.

Race Horses codes and how to redeem them

Codes hand out feed items rather than cash, which is exactly what you need while pushing horses toward the Level 5 and Level 10 stable thresholds.

CodeReward
HORSES1 Golden Apple
RACER1 Golden Apple
CARROT15 Carrots

Open the Promo Codes window, type a code into the text box exactly as written, and confirm. A successful redemption drops the item straight into your inventory, so check for the Golden Apple or the carrot stack before assuming a code failed. The game also serves a Free Reward prompt for a Golden Apple during play.

From there the game is a rhythm rather than a challenge. Gather apples, feed whichever horse is off cooldown, enter it in the next race, bank the payout, and put it toward the next egg tier. Once the stable holds multiple runners, you can keep one horse on the track almost continuously while the others eat and rest.
