Rocket League Absolute Cinema: How to Get 3 Aerial Goals

Rocket League Absolute Cinema: How to Get 3 Aerial Goals

The Absolute Cinema event in Rocket League Season 22 hands out a random Black Market item for scoring three aerial goals in online matches. The challenge sounds intimidating if you don't play with much air time, but the requirement is looser than most players think, and certain game modes practically hand the goals to you.

🎯
Quick answer: Queue Casual Heatseeker or Hoops, score three goals where your car is above the crossbar at the moment of contact. Custom/private matches do not count.

What counts as an aerial goal

The game registers an aerial goal based on your car's height at the moment of contact, not the ball's height. Your car must be above the height of the crossbar (the top of the goal) when you touch the ball, and that touch must result in a goal.

A few specifics matter here:

  • The ball itself can be below the crossbar. If your car is above it when you make contact, it still counts.
  • Wall hits qualify as long as your wheels leave the wall before contact and you're above crossbar height.
  • If your car is below the crossbar but the ball is above it, the touch does not register as aerial.

Goals from your teammates after your aerial touch will not credit you unless you scored directly. Stick to clean, final touches.

Best modes to farm the three goals

The mode you queue matters more than your mechanical skill. Some playlists keep the ball above the crossbar by default, which turns nearly every successful touch into a qualifying aerial.

ModeWhy it worksDifficulty
Heatseeker (Casual)Ball stays above crossbar for most of the match and auto-targets the netEasiest
HoopsNet is elevated, so most goals are scored from an aerial positionEasy
DropshotGoal floor sits below the field; aerial touches that break panels countModerate
RumbleSpikes, magnet, and grappling hook items lift you above crossbar heightModerate
Standard 1v1/2v2/3v3Requires actual aerial mechanics; slowest pathHardest

Heatseeker is the fastest route for most players. The ball travels at predictable speeds toward the opponent's net, and even a basic jump-and-boost touch from above the crossbar will count. Hoops is the backup option when Heatseeker queues are slow.

How to score the aerial in standard play

Step 1: Position your car slightly ahead of where the ball will land before you jump. Aiming ahead of the ball reduces the boost you need and gives you a cleaner contact angle.

Step 2: Double jump, angle the nose of your car upward, and feather your boost rather than holding it down. Pulsing boost preserves fuel and makes air control easier.

Step 3: Make contact with the ball using the front of your car while your wheels are above the crossbar. Hitting with the nose drives the ball forward into the net rather than sending it straight up.

Rumble shortcut

If your aerial mechanics aren't there yet, Casual Rumble is the lowest-skill option after Heatseeker. The Grappling Hook and Boot items pull you into the air automatically, and the Spike lets you carry the ball onto the roof of the net before dropping it in. Magnet and Plunger also lift you above the crossbar height during normal play.

One detail worth knowing: Heatseeker goals do count for the event's other aerial-related quests, so the same farming session contributes to multiple challenges.

Verifying the reward

The challenge tracker updates immediately after each qualifying goal. Once the counter hits 3/3, the Black Market drop is added to your inventory automatically; it opens itself rather than sitting as a sealed item, so check your recently acquired items in the garage to see what you pulled. Drops are randomized, so duplicates are possible.

⚠️
Private matches, custom lobbies, and offline exhibition games do not count toward any Absolute Cinema challenge. Stick to online playlists (Casual or Competitive).

If the goal isn't tracking

The most common reasons the counter doesn't move:

  • Your car was below the crossbar at the moment of contact, even if the ball was above it.
  • The match was a custom/private lobby instead of an online matchmade game.
  • Another player touched the ball last before it crossed the line, taking credit for the goal.
  • You scored an own goal — only goals on the opponent's net count.

The Absolute Cinema event ends on May 25, 2026, so the window for the Black Market drop and the three associated player titles ("Clip Machine," "Absolute Cinema," and "I <3 Rule 1") closes then. Heatseeker remains the quickest path for anyone leaving it to the last day.
