The bounty system arrived in RUNAWAYS with UPDATE 2 on August 29th, 2026, and it changed the math on a run. A single completed bounty can pay more than an entire town’s worth of stolen paintings, wallets, and jewelry. The catch is that bounties are not offered to you — you have to walk into a pawn shop and hope one is on the wall.
Quick answer: Bounty posters spawn randomly inside pawn shops (TrashAmerica locations). Walk in, look for a WANTED DEAD poster, press E to pick it up, follow the arrow and distance toward the listed last seen location, and kill the target to bank the cash.
Where bounty posters spawn in RUNAWAYS
Posters only appear inside pawn shops. There is no map marker, no notification, and no menu that lists active bounties — the poster is a physical object hanging on the shop wall, and either it is there or it isn’t. Spawning is random per shop, so two shops in the same town can give you one and nothing at all.

Because you are already visiting pawn shops constantly to sell loot, the efficient approach is to glance at the walls every time you drop off a haul. Sitting in one shop waiting for a poster to appear wastes fuel and burns the police timer for nothing. Check as you travel, and treat a poster as a bonus rather than a plan.
Note: The Bounty Hunter class does not increase how often posters spawn. It is a strong class for its speed and melee bonuses, but equipping it does not seed bounties into shops.

Add to Google Preferences →How to read a bounty poster and track the target
Every poster carries the same three pieces of information, and all three matter before you commit. Read the payout, read the distance, then decide whether your fuel and vehicle health can survive the detour.
| Poster detail | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| LAST SEEN AT | The named location holding the target, such as FARM or a truck stop |
| Distance | How far away the target is, shown in miles (for example 0.53 MILES) |
| BOUNTY REWARD | The cash you receive for the kill |
| Directional arrow | Points toward the target while you hold the poster |
The arrow is the actual tracking tool. Hold the poster, face different directions, and drive the way it points — the location name gets you into the right area, and the arrow narrows it down once you are close. Targets sit inside buildings at that location, so expect to clear a barn, a diner, or an upper floor rather than find someone standing in the open.
Completing a bounty step by step
How to confirm the bounty paid out
When the correct target dies, the screen displays TARGET ELIMINATED – BOUNTY GRANTED and the cash lands immediately. You will also get a text message from Hugh Dunnit, the contact who messages you throughout the run. If neither appears, the NPC you killed was a guard or bystander, not the target — keep searching the building.
There is no partial credit. Wounding the target, leaving the area, or letting police kill them does not pay you.
Bounty payouts compared to normal looting
Rewards vary per poster, and the range is wide. Observed payouts include $11,000, $13,000, $14,000, $16,000, and $31,500. For context, clearing several houses in an early town and selling everything can land around $700, and holding $50,000 at any point in a run is rare enough to have its own badge.
| Income source | Typical return |
|---|---|
| One completed bounty | $11,000 to $31,500 |
| Full pawn sale after looting a town | Hundreds of dollars |
| Smashing an ATM | Around $150 |
One poster can therefore fund armor, a rifle or grenade launcher, extra ammunition, repair kits, and fuel for the rest of the trip to Mexico. That is the real value — bounty cash converts into the equipment that survives the border standoff.
Risks that end bounty hunts early
A bounty is a firefight you are choosing to start, and the game treats it like any other crime. The moment shooting begins, a police backup countdown appears and the wanted level climbs — hunts have ended with players at a five-star wanted level driving away from a truck stop.
- Police backup timers get shorter the further you progress, so late-map bounties give you less room to work.
- Armed guards and hostile NPCs defend target locations, and other players on the 50-player server can contest the same target.
- Fuel is the quiet killer. A detour to a farm with a low tank leaves you on foot, and on foot the police helicopter finds you.
- Vehicle damage taken during the escape carries into the rest of the run, so keep repair kits stocked before you take a poster.
Skipping a bounty is a legitimate decision. If the poster points several miles backward, or you are already low on gas with a smoking car, the payout is not worth restarting the run over.
The bounty system rewards players who are already moving efficiently. Keep looting, keep selling, keep the tank full, and check every pawn shop wall on the way through — when a poster does show up, you will have the fuel, the ammunition, and the time to actually cash it in. You can jump into RUNAWAYS on Roblox to test it, with UPDATE 3 scheduled for September 5th.
