Search For The Needle: How to Find the Needle Fast in Roblox

The exact lobby prep, tool order, and bag upgrades that clear a Farmhouse haystack in the shortest time.

The exact lobby prep, tool order, and bag upgrades that clear a Farmhouse haystack in the shortest time.

Every run of Search For The Needle comes down to one number, which is how fast you can move a mountain of hay into a cow’s mouth. The needle itself is not hidden behind a puzzle or a random spawn table you can memorize. It sits under the pile, and the only way to reach it is to strip that pile down. That makes the whole game an economy problem, and the players with the best times are the ones who buy the right upgrade at the right moment instead of hoarding cash.

Quick answer: Claim the 100 free gems in the lobby, spend them on Bag Size and Hand Grab Amount, then in the run buy Hold, Grasp, and Speed for your hands, upgrade the bag at $2.00 and $2.50, buy the Pitchfork, upgrade it, then push to the Vacuum at $69.99 and clear the pile from the top down — the needle is in the center.

Lobby setup: free gems, permanent perks, and a class roll

Cash resets when a run ends. Gems do not, and neither do the stat upgrades you buy with them, so the fastest clear you will ever get starts before you teleport into a map. Skipping this stage means starting every Farmhouse attempt with a tiny bag and a weak grab, which is where most of the wasted minutes come from.

Walk to the Garage Games board in the lobby and open the FREE REWARD panel. It asks you to like the game and join the group, both of which are one click each on the Roblox experience page.
Rejoin the game after joining the group. The CLAIM button stays greyed out until the server re-checks your membership on a fresh join, and once it registers you get 100 gems.
Spend those gems in the permanent player perks shop. Bag Size and Hand Grab Amount are the two that shorten a run directly, since one cuts the number of walks to the cow and the other raises how much hay each click pulls. Hay Value is the sensible third pick because it turns the same hay into more cash.

Roll for a class if you have gems left over. Classes are permanent passives, and Forkmaster is the one built for this route because it makes each pitchfork swing collect 25 percent more hay and knocks 25 percent off pitchfork upgrade costs. It lands on roughly 9 percent of rolls.

Note: class effects only pay off if you actually use the matching tool. A Forkmaster who rushes straight past the Pitchfork to the Vacuum has bought nothing.

Farmhouse purchase order, from bare hands to the Vacuum

Create a party for FARMHOUSE on NORMAL and teleport in. The loop never changes. You aim at the pile, hold the left mouse button to pull hay flakes into your bag, then carry the bag to the FEED window on the barn and sell it to the cow for cash. Everything below is spent out of that cash.

PurchaseCostWhat it changes
Hand — Hold$1.00Lets you hold the button to collect continuously instead of clicking
Hand — GraspFrom $0.25More hay per grab
Hand — SpeedFrom $0.50Faster collection rate
Bag upgrade 1$2.00Capacity to 100
Bag upgrade 2$2.50Capacity to 150
Dynamite (optional)$25.00Faster bulk clearing on the way to the Pitchfork
Pitchfork$10.00 ($8.00 with Forkmaster)Sweeps hay in an arc instead of one grab at a time
Pitchfork — Hold, Sweep, CooldownFrom $0.75 eachBigger sweeps and shorter waits between them
Bag upgrade 3$5.00Capacity to 250
Vacuum$69.99Sucks hay in bulk, no aiming per flake
Vacuum — Power, RuntimeFrom $5.00–$6.00Pulls more hay per second and runs longer before cooling

Prices climb with each level, so the numbers above are entry costs. The order matters more than the exact figure. Hand upgrades pay for themselves within a minute, bag upgrades pay for themselves by deleting walking time, and the Pitchfork is the point where the pile visibly starts shrinking.

Running the sequence

Fill the starting bag by hand and sell it to the cow. Open the upgrade book immediately and buy Hold first, because collecting by held button rather than repeated clicks changes your rate more than any single stat level.
Take Grasp and Speed to at least level two each. Keep selling between purchases rather than banking cash, since idle money in the early game is time you are not converting.
Head into the shed and buy the $2.00 bag upgrade, then the $2.50 one as soon as you can afford it. The same screen offers the permanent Infinite Bag pass, which is optional and removes the trips entirely.

Climb on top of the haystack and hold the collect input. From up there the pile fills your cursor area, so hay keeps flowing into the bag without moving the mouse. Watch for rainbow-glowing flakes while you do it, because they count as several flakes and sell for double.

Buy the Pitchfork at the tool wall, then put your next few sales into its Hold, Sweep, and Cooldown lines. Sweep is the one that widens each swing, and Cooldown is what stops you standing around between them.
Take the bag to 250 for $5.00 once the Pitchfork is upgraded. Bigger sweeps fill a small bag almost instantly, so capacity becomes the bottleneck again at this stage.
Farm with the Pitchfork until you can afford the Vacuum at $69.99, then buy it and immediately put money into Power and Runtime. An unupgraded Vacuum is not obviously better than a maxed Pitchfork, and that is where runs stall.

Where the needle is and how to confirm the clear

The needle sits in the middle of the haystack, under the bulk of it. There is no published spawn formula and no marker that points to it early, so treating any one successful find as a fixed location will cost you time on the next attempt. Work the pile down from the top and inward toward the center rather than nibbling at the edges, and the needle surfaces as the last of the hay disappears.

You know the run is finished when you pick the needle up. The map ends, your completion time is displayed, and gems are paid out as the clear reward. On your first successful clear the Found the Needle! badge also unlocks on your Roblox profile, which is the cleanest confirmation that the map registered. Roughly 39 percent of players who have loaded the game hold it.

Common reasons a fast run falls apart

  • The free gem reward will not claim on the same session you joined the group. Rejoin the game first.
  • Collection silently stops once the bag is full. If hay is no longer counting up, you are hauling, not farming.
  • Saving for the Vacuum from the start leaves you clearing a full pile with weak hands for most of the run. The Pitchfork is what funds the Vacuum.
  • Buying a tool without its upgrades. Each tool is priced as a platform, and the Sweep, Power, and Runtime levels are where the actual speed lives.

Once Farmhouse is clean, the gems you banked feed straight back into permanent perks, which makes the next attempt shorter without any new tactics. That compounding is the real progression here, and it is also what the BASEMENT chapter expects you to bring, since that one swaps the haystack objective for finding a key and getting out.
