Silent Hill: Townfall — How to Open the Clinic Reception Door

What you need to reach the Shorefront Family Clinic keypad, get Reception open, and pick up the lead waiting inside.

What you need to reach the Shorefront Family Clinic keypad, get Reception open, and pick up the lead waiting inside.

The Shorefront Family Clinic sits northeast of Town Square, and the first thing it does is stop you. A few steps past the front entrance, the door marked Reception is locked behind a keypad that wants four digits, and there is no way to shove past it. The solution is sitting in an office a short walk down the same corridor.

Quick answer: Use Zoe’s Lanyard to enter the clinic, reach the “Z Ellis” office at the corridor’s far end, and check the computer’s Post-it. Then enter its four digits at the Reception keypad.

What you need before the Reception keypad

You cannot reach the keypad early. The clinic is gated behind an earlier puzzle in Zoe’s House, and the corridor inside is dark enough that a working light matters.

  • Zoe’s Lanyard — you receive it automatically when the Human Organ Box in Zoe’s House is opened.
  • To the left of the clinic’s front entrance is the badge panel that the lanyard opens.
  • A working flashlight, built by combining the AA Batteries with the Flashlight Without Batteries in your inventory.

With the badge accepted, walk in through the front entrance under the blue Shorefront Family Clinic sign.

Finding the combination in the Z Ellis office

Ignore the Reception door for now and keep walking. Follow the green-walled corridor past the waiting chairs until it ends.

Look for the door with the “Z Ellis” nameplate. Black goo is seeping out from underneath it, but nothing is waiting inside, so you can search the room at your own pace.
Examine the computer on the desk. A yellow Post-it stuck to the monitor spells out the four digits you need for Reception.
Before you leave, take the Scalpel from the green medical container next to the computer. It opens the rusty hatch doors around St. Amelia, including the Pharmacy and the park gate, so grabbing it now saves a return trip.

Learn this route. The Z Ellis office is also where the clinic’s scales puzzle waits later in the chapter.

Opening the Clinic Reception door

Return along the corridor to the door marked Reception. Coming from the entrance, you will find it on the right, and its digital lock is fixed beside the door.

Interact with the keypad to bring up the number pad.

Press the four digits in the order they appear on the Post-it. There is no confirm button to finish with.

You will know it worked the moment the last digit registers. The status light flips to green, the lock releases, and the door swings open without any further prompt. If nothing happens, you mistyped the sequence, and you can simply start again from the first digit.

What is inside Clinic Reception

Reception is a small room, but it is worth a slow sweep before you move on. Three things in here matter.

ItemTypeWhy it matters
PhoneSave pointManual save
Nurse’s Rounds FormDocumentCollectible
Answering machineStory leadPoints to the Pharmacy

The Nurse’s Rounds Form is on the desk, filed under Zoe Ellis, employee ID 0386, with most of the patient details scored out. It counts toward your collectibles. The phone is a standard save point, and since dialling 100 from any phone in town saves your game, this one is convenience rather than a one-off chance.

Play the answering machine message before you leave. The pharmacist asks Nurse Ellis to come to the pharmacy on Main Street, and that message is what marks St. Amelia Pharmacy on your map.

Where the clinic thread goes next

After you collect the Scalpel and mark the Pharmacy on your map, the clinic becomes the chapter’s main scales-puzzle hub instead of a dead end. The puzzle begins in the Z Ellis office and requires three items placed on three plates.

  • Left plate — Broken Stethoscope, found on a bed in Jess’s House.
  • Middle plate — In the Pharmacy’s back area, a rusty locker contains the Prescription Dosage Error Note.
  • Right plate — Zoe’s Lanyard, the badge you already used on the front door.

The Resignation Letter in the clinic explains that setup piece by piece. Set the three items in their proper positions, and the following story section starts immediately with a cutscene. The answering machine therefore continues this chain rather than sending you elsewhere.
