Silver Ingots in Windrose — How to Unlock, Find, and Use Them

Silver Ingots are a crafting material in Windrose that work differently from Copper or Iron Ingots. You cannot produce them through smelting. Instead, they're gated behind a specific story quest and obtained through purchasing, looting, or completing objectives. Once unlocked, Silver Ingots become a regular necessity for jewelry crafting and several important workstations.

Quick answer: Complete the "Revenge is Best Served Cold" quest to unlock Silver Ingots, then buy them from the Tortuga Goods Seller for 20 Piastre or loot them from quests, chests, and pirate ship battles.

Unlock requirement — Revenge is Best Served Cold quest

Silver Ingots do not exist in the game world until you finish the "Revenge is Best Served Cold" quest. This is a mandatory prerequisite. No amount of exploring, looting chests, or visiting vendors will yield Silver Ingots before that quest is done.

During the quest, you'll face a boss named Thomas Richards. He hits hard and can kill unprepared players quickly, so make sure your gear and healing supplies are in order before engaging. Defeating Thomas Richards completes the quest and permanently unlocks Silver Ingots across all acquisition methods.

Where to get Silver Ingots after unlocking them

Once the quest is finished, Silver Ingots become available through three main channels. The most reliable option is the Tortuga Goods Seller, who stocks them at a flat rate. The other methods involve some luck.

MethodDetailsReliability
Tortuga Goods SellerBuy for 20 Piastre each; sell for 20 Piastre eachGuaranteed
Quest rewardsVarious quests reward Silver Ingots upon completionModerate

The buy and sell price being identical at 20 Piastre means there's no markup penalty for purchasing them from the vendor. If you're short on ingots and need them immediately, spending Piastre is a perfectly efficient option with no loss in trade value.

💡
Pirate ship battles are one of the better loot sources for Silver Ingots, but they carry real combat risk. Only engage if your weapons and ship are upgraded enough to handle the fight.

What Silver Ingots are used for

Silver Ingots serve two primary purposes in Windrose. They're the key material for crafting and upgrading jewelry, and they're required to build several essential crafting stations.

Jewelry crafting and stat boosts

Jewelry pieces crafted or upgraded with Silver Ingots grant various stat boosts that directly improve combat effectiveness. These aren't cosmetic upgrades — they meaningfully affect your survivability on the seas. Once you move past the early game, jewelry becomes an important part of your loadout, and Silver Ingots fuel that entire system.

Crafting stations that require Silver Ingots

StationPurpose
Reagent TableProduces reagents used in various crafting recipes
Jeweller's BenchPrimary station for creating jewelry
Jewellery TableUsed for upgrading existing jewelry pieces

All three stations are essential for the jewelry crafting pipeline. Without them, you can't produce or improve any jewelry at all, making Silver Ingots a bottleneck material worth stockpiling once they become available.

Silver Ingots sit at the center of Windrose's mid-to-late-game progression. The quest gate means you won't encounter them early, but once "Revenge is Best Served Cold" is behind you, prioritize building a reserve. Between vendor purchases and the occasional lucky drop from pirate encounters, keeping a healthy supply ensures your jewelry crafting never stalls.
