Breathing Styles are the Slayer side of combat in Slayers 2, and they are not handed out at character creation. Each of the eight styles belongs to a specific trainer NPC tucked away on a roof, a cliff, or the far end of an underwater tunnel, and each one wants a level, a material stack, and a training run before it hands over a moveset.
Quick answer: Reach level 25 on the Slayer path, farm the Demon Horns or Beast Cores your chosen style asks for, then find that style’s trainer and complete their training questline.
Breathing Style requirements in Slayers 2
Every trainer shares the same gate before their individual costs come into play. Get these four things sorted and the rest is just travel time.
- Level 25 is the entry point for all eight styles.
- You need to be on the Slayer route. Demon characters use Blood Demon Arts instead, which come from a completely separate questline.
- Materials differ per style, usually Demon Horns, sometimes Beast Cores, and in one case Wen.
- Wall Climb makes several trainers reachable at all, and Stone specifically wants the Axe and Mace weapon unlocked first.
Standing next to a trainer does not give you the style. The NPC starts a questline, and the moveset only lands once you finish it.

Add to Google Preferences →Where to farm Demon Horns and Beast Cores
Demon Horns are the main currency of the whole system, and costs run from 10 all the way up to 50 depending on the style. The reliable low-level source is the cave near Mother Bear, where Hoyuzo Subordinates spawn in groups and drop horns on death.
For faster stacks, head up to the snowy ledges where High Demons roam. They hit back with Demon Arts, so they are a real fight, but each one can drop 2 Demon Horns instead of one, which roughly halves the grind for the expensive styles.

Beast Cores come from Beast Born Demons, which you can find fighting through the Mistfall Village area. Only some styles ask for them, so check your trainer’s requirement before you commit an afternoon to the farm.
Every Breathing trainer location in Slayers 2
All eight trainers require level 25 on top of whatever is listed below.
| Trainer | Style | Where to find them | Extra cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Obari | Serpent | Rocky crevice on the mountain above the starting village | 20 Demon Horns, 5 Beast Cores |
| Gyorei | Stone | Temple courtyard on the lower path from the bear area | Axe and Mace unlocked |
| Zentaro | Thunder | Mountain summit on the route near the bear village | Wall Climb needed |
| Rengu | Flame | Find it on the roof of the house beside the red bridge leading from Mistfall Village. | 10 Demon Horns |
| Shinora | Insect | The shop is on the roof of Butterfly Mansion’s main building. | Not confirmed |
| Urokodaki | Water | Underwater passage near the island house at Bamboo Grove | 5,000 Wen, 30 Demon Horns |
| Saneri | Wind | Platform in the water in the snowy biome | 50 Demon Horns |
| Tengai | Sound | High cliffs of Iceveil Valley | Wall Climb needed |
Obari, Gyorei, and Zentaro: Starting cliffs and bear routes
Obari is the closest trainer to where you start. Leave the starter village, follow the path past the bandit camp, and climb the mountain until you drop into a narrow rocky crevice. Serpent Breathing asks for Beast Cores alongside its horns, so bring both.

Gyorei sits in a temple courtyard down the lower path from the bear area. Stone is the one style with a weapon prerequisite, so unlock the Axe and Mace before making the trip or you will walk away empty-handed. Zentaro is the opposite direction in terms of elevation, parked at the top of a mountain peak on the route near the bear village, reached by scaling a giant tree and then the rock face above it.
Rengu, Shinora, and Urokodaki: Mistfall, Butterfly Mansion, and the water route
Rengu holds the cheapest requirement in the game at 10 Demon Horns. Head out past Mistfall Village toward the red bridge and look up, because he is on top of the house rather than standing at ground level beside it.

Shinora is also a rooftop NPC, found on the main building at Butterfly Mansion. Run the exterior wall of the mansion and climb up rather than searching the interior. Urokodaki is the trickiest approach of the three, since you have to swim into an underwater cave tunnel near the river by Bamboo Grove, follow it through, and climb up inside the building on the other side. Water is also the only style that charges Wen on top of its horn cost.
Saneri and Tengai: Iceveil Valley
Both snowy-region trainers are worth saving for last. Saneri is out in the frozen water, standing on a platform you reach by crossing the snow and the ice cliffs from the bear area. At 50 Demon Horns, Wind is the most expensive style to pick up, so farm before you travel.

Tengai is higher up in the same valley, on the outer mountain walls that you scale from the cliffs. Without Wall Climb unlocked, the route to him is effectively closed, and the same goes for Zentaro’s peak.
How Breathing training works: Minigames, Trainee boss, and the Skill Tree

How to confirm your Breathing Style unlocked
A finished style gives you five abilities bound to Z, X, C, V, and B, designed to chain into each other. Water, for example, runs Surface Slash, Whirlpool, Water Wheel, Constant Flux, and Dead Calm across those five keys, while Thunder ends on Flaming Thunder God and Flame ends on Purgatory.
If those slots are still empty after talking to a trainer, the training questline is not finished. Check your active objective, and if a trainer seems to be missing entirely, check the vertical space around you first. Several of them are on rooftops, above cliffs, or behind an underwater passage rather than in the open.
What comes after your first Breathing Style
At level 25, Breathing training marks the halfway point rather than the finish. Final Selection is the next major Slayer milestone, and it currently unlocks at level 45. To reach it, leave Mistfall Harbor for Butterfly Estate, take the long bridge heading south into Final Selection Plains, and continue northeast until the trial entrance; The Sisters trigger the sequence there. During those twenty levels, practice using all five Breathing abilities and save Skill Points—that is the most useful way to spend the time.
