Slayers 2 Progression Guide: Best Leveling Route to Final Selection

Every level gate, quest NPC, katana price, and Breathing trainer you need from level 1 to Final Selection.

Every level gate, quest NPC, katana price, and Breathing trainer you need from level 1 to Final Selection.

Slayers 2 drops you into Windy Peak with fists, a quest marker, and very little explanation of what order anything happens in. The early game is gated almost entirely by character level, and every worthwhile quest NPC sits behind a specific number. Learn the gates and the first 45 levels stop feeling random.

Quick answer: Grind Krue’s bandits to level 7, Zuko to 10, Tom’s bears to 25, unlock a Breathing Style at 25, then run Chaka and Wagwan’s quests until you enter Final Selection at level 45.

Slayers 2 level milestones from 1 to 45

Nothing here needs to be discovered the hard way. Each stage has one NPC worth farming, and moving on early just means slower kills.

Open the map and turn on the display toggles before you go anywhere. Boss Names, Area Names, Shrine Icons, Recommended Quest, and Quest Markers can all be switched on and off, and the shrine markers matter because you should keep resetting your spawn to the Bamboo Grove shrine nearest whatever you are farming.

Busier servers pay out more. Experience from mobs and quest turn-ins scales with how many players are in the server, so a full lobby is worth joining even if the boss chests get contested.

Clan rolls: what to keep before you load in

Clan spins happen in the Customize menu before you enter the world. There are six rarities, and Supreme sits at a 0.1% roll chance, so treating the roller as your first hour of gameplay is a bad trade. Click into a clan and read its skills, passives, and stats rather than judging it on rarity alone.

Choose a clan that complements the Breathing Style you plan to use. Rengoku matches Flame, Urokodaki matches Water, and Sabito works well with Water and sword-focused builds. For leveling advantages, especially experience boosts and drop utility, look to Agatsuma, Shinazugawa, Himejima, or Ubuyashiki. Iguro and Soyama are dependable all-purpose slayer options, while Kamado is the clan sought for the demon route due to its sun immunity.

Anything Uncommon or better is enough to start. Optimize once you know which style you actually enjoy playing.

Race choice: slayer path or demon path

Final Selection has a human race requirement, so the demon conversion is a fork, not a bonus. If you want the Slayer Corps route, stay human and ignore the reputation system entirely.

Turning demon works like this:

  • Drop to -40 Evil Reputation by killing standard civilians or slayer players, with Mistfall Harbor being the usual spot.
  • Find Muzan at night. He rotates between Mistfall Harbor, Hidden Mist Village, and the Iceveil settlement, so server hopping speeds this up.
  • Sort out sun protection first. The Black Amigasa comes from Elara’s shop after the old man’s quest, and sun hats also drop from chests.
  • Complete Muzan’s quest: collect nine Spider Lilies around Bamboo Grove and near the Stone Hashira area, then capture Dr. Higoshima on his cliffside platform and escort him back to Windy Peak.
  • Drink Demon Blood to become a demon, gain demon perks, and receive a permanent Biwa Bell route to Muzan’s Lair, where you roll Blood Demon Arts.

Everything below assumes the slayer path.

Windy Peak quests: Krue, Kazu, and the Book of Guidance

Krue is the first NPC you need. He hands out a repeatable three-Bandit contract and, once you hit level 7, the Mini Boss Zuko quest. Always take the quest before you start swinging, because unquested kills give you nothing but a workout.

Zuko respawns every few minutes and drops a Common Chest with gear inside. That chest is not reserved for whoever did the most damage, so sprint to it the moment he goes down or another player will empty it. Keep running bandit quests while you wait for the next spawn.

Kazu runs the village spy quest, which is the one people get stuck on. You identify infiltrators by hitting civilians and watching what happens. The ones that fight back are the spies; the rest are just villagers.

The spies leave a Suspicious Note behind. Take it to Noote in Windy Peak, and the translation points you up the hill to Chaka, which is what opens the level 26+ questline later.

Clear the rest of the village while you are here. Kona wants five Lost Pages, MoldySugar needs a package delivered, and Lucy asks for bear meat through the Restock the Pantry quest. The Lost Pages one is the priority: it rewards the Book of Guidance, which permanently points you toward the next quest in your progression chain. The game is hard enough to navigate with it.

Katana prices: Regular Katana vs Fancy Katana

Raze sells the starter weapons in Windy Peak. The Regular Katana costs 500 Wen and the Fancy Katana costs 1,500 Wen.

Both beat fists, but the Regular Katana is a small enough upgrade that saving straight for the Fancy Katana is a reasonable play if you are already comfortable punching bandits. Buy the cheap one if you are dying often, skip it if you are not.

Gear from boss chests works the same way. Rarity is not the stat that matters, so compare the actual bonuses before you swap something out for a shinier drop.

Skill tree priority: Double Jump, Wall Climb, and health

Skill points come with every level, and leaving them unspent is the most common early mistake. The tree covers Body, Weapons, Clan, and Breathing progression, and mastery is tracked separately from your character level, so leveling alone will never finish your moveset.

Get the movement nodes first. Double Jump and Wall Climb are effectively mandatory, because several Breathing trainers sit on cliffs and rooftops you cannot otherwise reach. Aim to have those plus the +40 Max Health node by roughly level 15 to 20.

Official game artwork03:07Skill Tree
The skill tree holds movement, health, stamina, damage and Block Point upgrades. Shown at 03:07 in syoct’s video.

After that, spend against whatever is currently killing you. Dying mid-fight means HP and block branches. Running out of gas mid-combo means stamina. Failing to reach a trainer means more traversal. Once Breathing is unlocked, check its technique requirements before you dump points elsewhere.

Block is the mechanic that carries the whole early game. Attacking nonstop gets you stunned and punished, so build a habit of short attack strings followed by a block or a dash. If you keep getting interrupted on the fourth hit, stop planning four hits.

Bamboo Grove bear quests with Tom (levels 10 to 25)

Tom stands down the path from the village and runs the two bear contracts that carry you through the teens. Bear Cubs open up in the low teens and the Mother Bear quest unlocks at level 18. Both pay considerably better than bandits, and the Mother Bear loop is what takes you to 25.

PvP switches on once you leave the starting area. Other players can hit you mid-farm, so watch your surroundings when your health is low and be careful about contesting a crowded spawn.

Unlock a Breathing Style at level 25: trainer locations

Breathing Styles come from trainer questlines that open at level 25. The current roster is Water, Thunder, Flame, Wind, Stone, Insect, Sound, and Serpent. Water gives the most varied toolkit, Flame is the straightforward damage pick, and Thunder suits players who like closing distance fast.

Wen, Demon Horns, and Beast Cores

Every trainer charges differently. Urokodaki asks for 5,000 Wen and 30 Demon Horns, Rengu wants 10 Demon Horns, and Obari wants 20 Demon Horns plus five Beast Cores. Sound’s route requires Wall Climb just to reach the trainer.

Demon Horns drop from the high-level snow demons up the mountain pass in Iceveil Valley. Beast Cores come from the nocturnal Beast Demons around Mistfall Harbor, so that farm only works at night. Pick your style before you farm anything, since these costs change from trainer to trainer and the game is still in early access. Read the current dialogue and build a shopping list rather than a random pile of materials.

Levels 26 to 45: Chaka, Kaiden, and Wagwan

Chaka sits up the hill past Bamboo Grove and is the NPC the Suspicious Note chain points you toward. His subordinate quest opens at level 26 and the Kaiden quest at level 34, which together cover the run to 40.

Kaiden’s subordinates punish greedy openings. Bait their dash first, let it whiff, then land your M1 string while they recover. That single habit does more for your clear speed than another damage node.

Once you reach 40, descend the cliff and find Wagwan beneath the waterfall below the bear area. His Hoyuzo’s Guard quests take time, and the guards are particularly annoying opponents, but this remains the only worthwhile grind location before Final Selection. Entry requires level 45, while level 60 is recommended for solo attempts.

Before you head west, make sure you can name three things about your kit: the damage move you can reliably land in a short opening, your approach or spacing tool, and your answer when you get hit first. Test long combos on normal mobs, not bosses, because a string that stunlocks a bandit will not hold the Hand Demon in place.

Final Selection at level 45: what the trial involves

Final Selection sits in the far west of the map, past the bridge out of Bamboo Grove. The Sisters guard the gate, they check your race, and entry runs on a countdown timer, so expect to wait for the next window rather than walking straight in.

Inside, the trial is a chain of NPC tasks rather than one long boss fight:

  • Rem assigns you to find the Apple, Banana, and Grapes, which are tucked beside the cliff edges and behind trees.
  • Vael, up on the raised rock, wants five Lesser Demons cleared from the woods.
  • Klien loses his Nichirin Katana down the cliffside and needs it back.
  • Rika sells a bandage for 35 Wen for the wound treatment minigame on Klien.
  • Mizuto sends you into the submerged cave to kill the Lost miniboss for the Submerged Key.
  • Lavato starts Mountain Survival, a timed run across four path markers to reach Levi.
  • Levi’s quest has you hold a capture point against demon waves, then escort a civilian out.
  • Steve starts the Hand Demon fight, which ends the trial.

Mizuto's quest sends you underwater for the Submerged Key, dropped by the Lost. Shown at 17:52 in Verm’s video.

The Submerged Key opens the parkour dungeon, which is the part that catches most players out. It is a timed obstacle course with wall spikes, levers you have to pull to open the route, and checkpoint flags along the way. Finish it and you report back to Mizuto.

The Hand Demon has damage immunity phases. It summons minions, and you have to clear them before the boss takes damage again, so save your big cooldowns for the windows in between. You know it worked when the reward chest drops and The Sisters hand over the Slayer Uniform, the Mizunoto rank, and ore.

After Final Selection: Kasugai Crow, gourds, and the next grind areas

Equip the Kasugai Crow from your inventory straight away. It issues recurring dispatch missions that scale with your level, which makes it the cleanest source of steady experience once the fixed quest chain runs out. Wagwan’s cave quests still hold up past 45 as well.

Gourd training is the other permanent upgrade worth buying early. Small, medium, and large gourds are sold at the Butterfly Estate and raise your Slayer Progress along with maximum health and stamina.

For travel and money, tame a horse. Spawns get announced, mounting triggers a rhythm minigame, and a horse costs 15,000 Wen outright. Ginzo at Mistfall Harbor runs delivery quests to Hidden Mist Village if you need cash, and merchants buy your junk drops and coin pouches.

The zones after that run in a clear order. Mistfall Harbor’s bridge quests against Corps slayers and trainees cover roughly 62 to 75. Demon Mokuro, tucked in a cliffside cave near the Butterfly Estate, handles 75 to 90.

Iceveil Settlement takes over from 90 to 145, though you need the Emberheart Lantern from the Yeti Demon at the White Terror Lair to survive the cold, plus campfire buffs between fights. Demon Slayer Mitsu runs the Frost and Blaze demon quests there. Past 145, the endgame is the dungeon portal at Ouwigahara and the tier 2 Nichirin forge.

Slayers 2 is still in early access, so quest levels and trainer costs can shift between updates. Treat the milestone numbers as the route and the NPC dialogue as the final word.
