The Soulreaper is a developer-tier rod tied to the Venue Takeover update in Fisch, handed out by the Reaper NPC inside the Underground Music Venue. Earning it requires five mutated catches with very specific rods, plus three offerings to ghosts scattered across the map. The fastest route is to line up the right rods, totems, and baits before starting, so each step finishes in a single fishing session.
Quick answer: Hand the Reaper a Shiny/Sparkling Darkened Rubber Ducky, a Shiny/Sparkling Spirit Ancient Depth Serpent, a Shiny/Sparkling Soul-Touched Log, a Shiny/Sparkling Distraught Scrap Metal, and a Shiny/Sparkling Phantom String. After each turn-in he gives a Soulreaper part. Deliver the Handle, Blade, and Bonds to the three ghosts at Roslit Volcano, the Statue of Sovereignty, and the Living Garden, then return to claim the rod.
Soulreaper rod requirements at a glance
Every step depends on stacking the correct rod with a Sparkling/Shiny mutation surge. Sparkling pairs best with Night of the Luminous because it adds roughly a 10% mutation chance per cast, which is higher than the Shiny surge alternative. The table below maps each item to the gear and conditions that make the catch realistic.
| Item needed | Where to fish | Rod and setup |
|---|---|---|
| Shiny/Sparkling Darkened Rubber Ducky | Vertigo | Any rod; appraise the Ducky after catching, using a Shiny or Sparkling surge plus a Darkened mutation surge |
| Shiny/Sparkling Spirit Ancient Depth Serpent | The Depths during Absolute Darkness | Spiritbinder (or Tranquility) with Blessed/Glittered, Truffle Worm bait, Sparkling and Aurora totems |
| Shiny/Sparkling Soul-Touched Log | Ancient Isle pond/waterfall | Hades Soul Scythe with Garbage Bait and Sparkling/Rainbow totems |
| Shiny/Sparkling Distraught Scrap Metal | Mineshaft trash pool, at night | Dreambreaker with Blessed/Glittered, Garbage Bait, Sparkling/Rainbow totems |
| Shiny/Sparkling Phantom String | Desolate Deep | Eidolon (Idola) Rod with Blessed/Glittered, Garbage Bait, Sparkling/Rainbow totems |
The Spiritbinder, Hades Soul Scythe, Dreambreaker, and Eidolon are all gated behind earlier endgame content, so finishing those questlines first is the single biggest time-saver before starting the Reaper chain.
Step-by-step path to the Soulreaper
Step 1: Travel to the Underground Music Venue and accept the quest from Reaper. He opens the chain by asking for a Shiny Sparkling Darkened Rubber Ducky.
Step 2: Fish in Vertigo until you hook a Rubber Ducky. You do not need to catch it already mutated. Pop a Shiny surge, a Sparkling appraise, and a Darkened mutation surge, then appraise the Ducky to convert it. Hand it to Reaper to receive the first reward.

Step 3: Head to The Depths and fish until the weather rolls into Absolute Darkness. A high-disturbance rod such as the Plague Reaver with Ferocious or Vicious enchantments speeds up the weather change. Once the Ancient Depth Serpent spawns, swap to the Spiritbinder (or Tranquility), pop a Sparkling totem and Aurora, and reel it in. Hand the Spirit-mutated catch to Reaper.

Step 4: Travel to the Ancient Isle pond where Floppies spawn. Equip the Hades Soul Scythe, attach Garbage Bait, and use Sparkling plus Rainbow totems. Keep casting until a Soul-Touched Log appears, then turn it in to receive the Soulreaper Handle.
Step 5: Move to the Mineshaft and wait for night. Equip the Dreambreaker with Blessed or Glittered, Garbage Bait, and pop Night of the Luminous along with a luck potion. Catch a Distraught Scrap Metal and hand it over for the Soulreaper Blade.

Step 6: Travel to the Desolate Deep and fish with the Eidolon Rod, Blessed/Glittered enchant, Garbage Bait, and a Sparkling totem. An All-Season potion stabilizes the weather rolls. Catch a Phantom String and turn it in to receive the Soulreaper Bonds.

Step 7: With the Handle, Blade, and Bonds in your bag, the Reaper now sends you to the three ghost buddies. Each ghost asks for one specific piece, and the prompt only appears when you are holding that exact item.
Ghost locations for the Handle, Blade, and Bonds
The ghosts are scattered across earlier zones rather than the Underground Music Venue. The order of delivery does not matter, but each ghost takes only the part it asks for, so equip the correct piece before pressing the prompt.
| Ghost | Region | Approx. coordinates | Piece to give |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghost 1 | Top of Roslit Volcano | -2001, 190, 389 | Soulreaper Handle |
| Ghost 2 | Statue of Sovereignty, near the Enchantment Altar | 1419, -837, -144 | Soulreaper Blade |
| Ghost 3 | Behind the innkeeper's house in the Living Garden | -2564, -309, -3114 | Soulreaper Bonds |

For the volcano ghost, fast travel to Roslit Bay, enter the volcano opening, and climb to the rim ledge. For the second, take the elevator up at the Statue of Sovereignty, drop off the left side of the Enchantment Altar, and glide to the small ledge near the sea. For the third, fast travel to the Living Garden, cross to the small house, and check the back corner.
Tip: Some players report the ghost model occasionally fails to render. The interaction prompt still triggers if you stand on the exact coordinate while holding the matching piece.
How to confirm the Soulreaper unlocked
After all three ghost handoffs, a chime plays and the quest tracker updates. Returning to Reaper at the Underground Music Venue triggers the final cutscene and adds the Soulreaper to your equipment bag.

If the rod does not appear, you are missing one of the three deliveries. Re-equip each Soulreaper piece and revisit every coordinate in the table above.
Soulreaper stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure speed | 999.999% |
| Luck | 0.177 |
| Resilience | 16.66% |
| Max weight | Infinite |
| Progress speed | +33% |
| Passive | Vampires cannot damage the holder |
The Soulreaper is a limited reward tied to the Venue Takeover window, so the bottleneck is not the quest logic itself but the gear required for each mutation. Players who already own the Spiritbinder, Hades Soul Scythe, Dreambreaker, and Eidolon can usually complete the entire chain in one extended session by stacking Sparkling totems and Night of the Luminous on every cast.
