Sidebets are one of the quickest ways to pile up Credits during the Campaign in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and they reward exactly the thing you are already trying to do. You are not wagering on who crosses the line first. You are wagering on whether you can finish ahead of a specific opponent, so every bet is really a question about your own placement.
Quick answer: Pick one of three offered racers, place your bet, and finish ahead of them in that event. Win and you get back double the Credits you wagered.

How Sidebets work in Star Wars: Galactic Racer
A Sidebet Challenge appears at the start of a Race or Eliminator event. You are shown three racers and the position each is predicted to finish, and you choose one to bet against. The Credits you stake are returned at double value if you beat that racer in the event.
The prediction attached to a racer matters because it sets the bar you have to clear. If the challenge offers a 1,000 Credit bet against Lyren Shok with him predicted to finish 1st, you need to take 1st place yourself to win that bet. The wager is not asking whether a racer lands in a particular position on their own. It is asking whether you can out-place them.
Put simply, if you bet on Soren Zaks and he wins the race, you lose the bet. Beat him to the line and you collect. Place your bet and race as normal, treating the opponent you picked as the one you most need to stay in front of.

Sidebets open up in Act 2 and continue through Act 3 of the Campaign. They do not exist in Act 1, so this is the earliest point you can start building a Credit stockpile from them. From Act 2 onward, expect a Sidebet Challenge before Standard and Eliminator events, which makes them a steady source of income across a Tour.
Because the payout is double or nothing, only stake what you can afford to lose if a race goes badly. The safest bets are against racers you already expect to beat on that track.
Betting against Kestar Bool
Every so often Kestar Bool shows up as one of the three Sidebet options. He is the strongest racer in the field, so beating him for a Sidebet is noticeably harder than beating anyone else. If you are specifically chasing a win against him, take the attempt on Cadet difficulty to tilt the odds in your favour.

Turning Sidebets into Rivalries
Back one racer across the events on a planet to start a Rivalry, bringing Sidebets into the larger progression loop. At the beginning of the next planet, that racer may approach and name you as their rival. Another planet or two later, they will challenge you to a one-on-one Head-to-Head.
Rivalries are worth setting up on purpose because of what they return. Wins against your rivals can grant Galactic League Tokens, which act as extra lives for a Tour, and Favors, which are permanent perks.
Once a Rivalry is active, that racer appears in the Sidebet list marked with a red cross. Beating them in a Sidebet while they hold that status is its own objective separate from simply winning ten bets.

Sidebet trophies and how to confirm a win
A Sidebet win is confirmed the moment the event ends and the doubled Credits are paid into your total. Three trophies track Sidebet outcomes, and each counts toward a specific condition rather than general participation.
| Trophy | Condition |
|---|---|
| I’ll Take That Bet | Win 10 Sidebets in total |
| Beginner’s Luck | Beat your current Rival in a Sidebet. |
| Gathii vs. Bool | Win a Sidebet against Kestar Bool |
The ten-win requirement tends to clear itself as you play through the later Campaign and the Gauntlet grind, so there is rarely a need to farm it deliberately. Beating a flagged rival covers Beginner’s Luck, while catching Kestar Bool in the Sidebet rotation and finishing ahead of him handles Gathii vs. Bool. Each unlock pops as its own trophy once the event concludes.
