Star Wars Zero Company: How to Talk to Tel and Unlock Origin of Infection

Where Tel-Rea stands in the Den, what her conversation covers, and how the objective updates afterward.

The “Talk to Tel” objective in Star Wars Zero Company stops a lot of players for a simple reason. Tel-Rea does not wait for you at the Holotable with everyone else. She is tucked away in the crew area of the Den, and the objective will sit in your tracker until you physically walk over and interact with her.

Quick answer: Leave the main hologram room, follow the corridor down into the pit area of the Den, and interact with Tel-Rea at her desk console. Finishing the scene changes the tracker to “Launch Mission for Tel: Origin of Infection.”

Where to find Tel-Rea in the Den

The Den is the decommissioned cargo freighter that serves as Zero Company’s home base, docked at the Ring of Kafrene. Hawks starts most cycles at the Holotable in the main room, which is where you pick missions and operations. Tel-Rea is not there.

Turn away from the Holotable and take the corridor leading out of the main hologram room. You are heading for the lower crew space that players and the game both refer to as the pit.

Walk into the pit and look for the desk console along the wall. Tel-Rea stands at it, working, rather than moving around the room.
Get close enough for the interaction prompt to appear on her, then press the talk input. The prompt reads E TALK on keyboard and mouse.

What the conversation covers

Interacting with Tel-Rea starts a scene built around a holocron she has been reading. She has pulled up one of Hadrix’s earliest reports on the plague, written more than two years earlier, and she wants Hawks to hear it.

Hawks, I found something. This is one of Hadrix’s earliest reports on the plague, dated over two years ago.

The report describes roughly half of the missing villagers found in a mass grave, their frozen bodies marked by the Shadow Plague. Hadrix concludes that the pattern is well past coincidence and that the plague’s masters ran experiments at the base in question. That connection is what turns the conversation into an assignment.

How to confirm it worked

When the scene ends, check the objective list in the top left of the screen. The “Talk to Tel” line is replaced by “Launch Mission for Tel: Origin of Infection.” That swap is the only confirmation you need.

Tracker lineWhat it means
Talk to TelYou have not spoken to Tel-Rea yet this cycle. Head to the pit.
Launch Mission for Tel: Origin of InfectionThe conversation is complete and the mission is live at the Holotable.

You can skip the scene without losing the unlock. The objective updates on the conversation ending, not on watching it through.

Note: If the prompt does not appear, you are likely on the wrong deck. The pit is a separate space from the room housing the Holotable, so leaving the main room is a required step rather than an optional detour.

Launching Origin of Infection

Once the objective flips, the mission is picked up like any other. Return to the Holotable and select it from the assignments available for the current cycle, alongside the other options on the board such as Cly’s and Luco’s jobs.

Handle anything else you want to do in the Den before you commit. Deploying on a mission advances the cycle, and unspent time in the base does not carry over. Talking to teammates between deployments is also how other personal missions surface, so a lap around the Den before you launch is rarely wasted.
