Sebastian is one of the twelve marriage candidates in Stardew Valley, and he is also one of the harder ones to read. He lives in the basement of Robin’s Carpenter Shop in The Mountain, north of Pelican Town, works as a freelance programmer, and keeps his distance from people he does not know. Win him over and a thoughtful, creative person emerges from behind the standoffish exterior.
Quick answer: To marry Sebastian, raise him to 10 hearts, give him a Bouquet once you reach 8 hearts to start dating, then give him a Mermaid’s Pendant. The fastest way to gain hearts is gifting his loved items twice a week: Frog Egg, Frozen Tear, Obsidian, Pumpkin Soup, Sashimi, and Void Egg.

Sebastian basic information
Sebastian is Maru’s older half-brother. Robin is his mother, and Demetrius is his stepfather. He is close friends with Sam, and the two regularly play pool at the Stardrop Saloon. He is also tied closely to Abigail and tends to stand with both of them during festivals.

You can give Sebastian two gifts per week, plus one on his birthday. A gift on Winter 10 counts for eight times its normal value and triggers unique dialogue, so save a loved item for that day. Item quality also adds bonus friendship: silver gives +10 percent, gold +25 percent, and iridium +50 percent.
| Reaction | Gifts |
|---|---|
| Loves | Frog Egg, Frozen Tear, Obsidian, Pumpkin Soup, Sashimi, Void Egg, plus all Universal Loves (Golden Pumpkin, Magic Rock Candy, Pearl, Prismatic Shard, Rabbit’s Foot, Stardrop Tea) |
| Likes | Combat Quarterly, Flounder, Monster Compendium, Quartz, and most Universal Likes (Coffee, Green Tea, and Truffle Oil are the only liked artisan goods) |
| Neutral | All Milk, all Fish except Carp, Flounder, and Snail, all Fruit except fruit tree fruit and Salmonberry |
| Hates | All artisan goods except Coffee and Truffle Oil, all eggs except Void Egg, Clay, Complete Breakfast, Farmer’s Lunch, Omelet, Piña Colada, Strange Bun, and all trash |
Sashimi is the easiest loved gift early on, since you only need any fish and the recipe from Linus at 3 hearts. Pumpkin Soup needs one milk and one pumpkin once Robin gives you the recipe at 7 hearts. In the late game, iridium-quality Void Eggs from a Void Chicken give the most friendship per gift.

Where to find Sebastian (daily schedule)
On most weekdays, Sebastian stays close to home. He wakes around 9:00 AM, moves to his computer by 10:30 AM, makes a short trip to the kitchen in the afternoon, and heads to the lake next to his house to smoke around 6:30 PM before returning by 9:30 PM. His routine shifts on a few days and during certain weather.
| Day or condition | Where to find him |
|---|---|
| Most weekdays and Sunday | Home, alternating between his computer and the lake outside the house |
| Friday | Plays pool with Sam at the Stardrop Saloon from 5:20 PM until about 9:10 PM |
| Saturday | At Sam’s house from late morning, then by the river outside it in the evening |
| Rainy day (option 1) | At the beach, on the long pier west of the fish shop, around 1:30 PM |
| Rainy day (option 2) | At the Saloon, standing by the red sofa in the arcade |
| Thursday (Railroad unlocked) | Smoking by the train station near the tunnels |
| Summer 4 | At Harvey’s Clinic for his checkup |
| Winter 16 | Visits the Night Market |
Once the Beach Resort on Ginger Island is unlocked, Sebastian may randomly spend the day there, then go straight home to bed after leaving at 6:00 PM. He never visits the Resort on festival days or on his clinic checkup day. After the bus service is restored, he can also work a booth at the Desert Festival.

Sebastian heart events
Sebastian has five heart events that fill in his story and unlock the steps toward marriage. None of the dialogue choices in these events change your friendship, so you can answer however you like.
Two hearts: Enter Sebastian’s room. He is finishing work on his computer and talks about his career as a freelance programmer, his frustration that nobody takes his job seriously, and his need for time alone.
Four hearts: Go to The Mountain between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. You find Sebastian working on his motorcycle in the garage, and he hints at one day taking you for a ride.
Six hearts: Enter Sebastian’s room while he is there. He invites you to play Solarion Chronicles: The Game with him and Sam. You pick a Warrior, Healer, or Wizard archetype; the class does not affect friendship, and a perfect score is possible with any of them.
Eight hearts: Go to the beach on a rainy day between noon and 11:00 PM. Sebastian is on the boardwalk and admits he feels less anxious around you, then shares his umbrella in the rain.
Ten hearts: Go to The Mountain between 8:00 PM and midnight. Sebastian takes you on a motorcycle ride to a quiet overlook above the city, where he confesses his feelings under the full moon.

How to date and marry Sebastian

Movie theater picks for Sebastian
Once the movie theater is open, inviting Sebastian is a fast way to add friendship. You can attend one movie per week, and a ticket costs 1,000g for each of you. A loved movie adds 200 friendship points, and a liked one adds 100, while a disliked movie adds nothing without lowering it.
| Reaction | Movies |
|---|---|
| Loves | Mysterium, It Howls In The Rain |
| Likes | Journey Of The Prairie King: The Motion Picture, Natural Wonders: Exploring Our Vibrant World, Wumbus |
| Dislikes | The Brave Little Sapling, Miracle at Coldstar Ranch, The Zuzu City Express |
Pair the trip with a loved concession for an extra 50 points. Sebastian loves Jasmine Tea and Stardrop Sorbet, and likes most of the standard snacks such as popcorn, nachos, and cotton candy.
Stick to his loved gifts twice a week, talk to him each day, and clear his heart events in order, and Sebastian will warm up faster than his quiet first impression suggests, taking you from a wary basement programmer to a married partner on your farm.
