Steal an Egg: How to Get the Divine Cthulhu From the Luminous Egg

The Cthulhu sits at a 0.5% chance inside the limited-time Luminous Egg, and mutations only count before it hatches.

The Cthulhu is the Divine-tier pet locked behind the Luminous Egg, the limited-time egg sold in the Steal an Egg shop. Unlike the Divines tied to biomes — Unicorn in Cosmic, Kitsune in Cherry Blossom, Nightflame in Titan Temple — Cthulhu cannot be stolen off a pedestal or fused into existence. It comes out of a paid egg pool, and the listed rate is brutal.

Quick answer: Cthulhu only hatches from the limited-time Luminous Egg at a listed 0.5% chance. Buy Luminous Eggs in the Shop with Robux, apply mutations before hatching, then open them in bulk.

Luminous Egg pet pool and rarities

The Luminous Egg carries twelve possible pets. Six are the standard line, and six are Luminous variants of the same creatures, which shift up in rarity. Cthulhu appears twice in the pool — once as the standard Divine, once as the Luminous Divine.

The Luminous versions are worth noting on the way to the Divine. A Luminous Spike is a Secret, and unlocking it in the Pet Index pays out its own cash reward. Those smaller unlocks are effectively consolation prizes while you burn through a stack of eggs.

How to buy and open Luminous Eggs

Clear your pens first. Hatch whatever is already sitting there, including any large incubated eggs, because you need open slots to place a batch of Luminous Eggs. Trying to open the shop eggs with a full pen just stalls the whole run.
Open the Shop menu and find the Luminous Egg entry. The listing shows the pool and the Cthulhu Divine rate of 0.5%. Because it is a limited-time offer, it will not stay in the shop indefinitely.
Pick a bundle. The 50 Eggs pack costs 1,120 Robux, which is the practical option if you are actually chasing the Divine rather than hoping on a handful of pulls.
Place the eggs across your pens and hatch them in batches. Fifty eggs will not fit at once, so expect to cycle through several rounds of placing, hatching, and clearing.
Fuse duplicates as you go. Extra Legendary Spikes can be dropped into the Fuse Machine, which combines them into upgraded eggs instead of leaving dead weight in your inventory.

Apply mutations before the egg hatches

Mutations are bought as Mutation Consumables from the Boss Shop, priced at 400 Boss Tokens each. They are applied to an egg while it is still an egg. Once it hatches, the pet is locked in as it is, and there is no going back to add a Fractured, Silver, Cosmic, or Golden roll.

This matters because pet income scales with both size and mutation. A Fractured Pure Jellyfish pulls in $30B/s. A Silver Centaur hatched from a 468,735kg Eternal Skeleton Horse egg produces $63B/s. The same logic applies to a Cthulhu — an unmutated one is a far weaker version of the same pet.

The single most common way to waste a Divine pull is bulk-hatching a batch of Luminous Eggs without stocking Mutation Consumables first. Buy them before you start opening.

How to confirm you unlocked the Divine Cthulhu

Confirmation comes from two places. The pet itself drops into the pen as an oversized Cthulhu model with a stat card attached — an unmutated one hatched at a standard size reads $5.88B/s. Larger or mutated versions will read higher.

The second check is the Pet Index. Open it after hatching and the Cthulhu entry flips from locked to unlocked, with a claimable cash reward of $300B attached. If that reward button is there, the unlock registered. Smaller Index payouts work the same way, such as the $35B for unlocking the Luminous Spike.

Where Cthulhu sits against the other Divines

Cthulhu is a strong earner but not the ceiling. The top of the Divine list is held by pets pulled from biome eggs and Rift eggs, and base income there runs higher.

PetRarityBase income
AetheronDivine$6.9B/s
ArchAngel / World BurnerDivine$5B/s
Shattered ColossusDivine$3.5B/s
NightflameDivine$3B/s
UnicornDivine$1B/s

Aetheron, the Angels & Demons Divine, remains the highest base earner in the game. What makes Cthulhu attractive is that it does not require reaching the late biomes or clearing Rift bosses — it is a straight Robux gamble with a defined pool, which is a very different kind of grind.

Since the Luminous Egg is a limited-time shop item, no removal date is currently confirmed. If you intend to chase the Cthulhu, stock Boss Tokens for mutations and clear your pens before spending anything, because the odds do not improve and the mutation window closes the moment the egg cracks.
