Steal An Egg: How to Unlock the Stolen Experiment Vault (Dr. Scramble)

Dr. Scramble’s arrival left a damaged vault sitting in a cave that most players sprint past, and it stays locked until you hand over five missing pieces. Two of them sit in the world on fixed landmarks. The other three only fall off the drones that invade the map on a timer, and they drop on a roll rather than a guarantee.

Quick answer: Collect 2 Lost Parts (Volcano and Prehistoric) from the Escaped Experiment’s Abyss Ocean cave and 3 Drone Parts, then select Claim in the Stolen Experiment Vault panel to unlock the Scrambler.

What the Stolen Experiment Vault needs

The five pieces are tracked in two distinct counters. Fill both completely before the Claim button becomes usable; progress does not transfer, so a Drone Part cannot count toward Lost Parts.

Collect the two Lost Parts while you wait for a drone wave. They sit in the world permanently, so there is no reason to stand around between spawns.

Start the quest at the Abyss Ocean cave

Head through Volcano to reach the Abyss Ocean biome. Since the quest has no map marker, use the terrain to find it instead of looking for an icon.

Stay beside the rock face and search for a small opening in the blue stone. Move slowly while checking the wall, because full speed makes it easy to pass the hole.

Enter through the gap to meet a bunny NPC, the Escaped Experiment, beside an experiment machine. A Classified poster nearby names Sammy, Brockodile and Ben.

Speak with the NPC. The dialogue concludes by asking for the vault’s missing pieces, then opens the Stolen Experiment Vault panel with Lost Parts at 0/2 and Drone Parts at 0/3.

Both Lost Part locations

The two pieces in the world are placed in the biomes bordering Abyss Ocean, making the return trip brief. Approach either one to get the Lost Vault Part interaction prompt; successful collection triggers the message “VAULT PART FOUND!”.

Volcano biome Lost Part

Head to the center of Volcano and find the small volcano structure with lava on top. The part is not on the outside. You need to get inside it and search the upper interior against the wall, on the tiered black rock surrounded by flowing lava. This is the one people give up on.

Prehistoric biome Lost Part

Run past the giant bones until you reach the sleeping T-Rex with eggs in front of it. The part sits behind the dinosaur’s head in the grass and bush clearing, near the biome Guardian. Circle around the back of the head until the collect prompt appears.

Reopen the vault panel after each pickup instead of assuming it registered. If a piece is genuinely missing from its landmark after a proper search, hop to a fresh server and check again.

How to farm the three Drone Parts

The last three pieces are not extra map locations. They drop from Dr. Scramble’s Experiment drones, which invade the map roughly every 30 minutes and announce themselves with a “FORBIDDEN EXPERIMENT HAS APPEARED” banner. Use the countdown running on your own server rather than treating the half-hour as exact.

Waves appear near eggs and nest spots across the biomes, including Titan Temple, Prehistoric and the Angels & Demons area. Dr. Scramble left three drone types behind — the Scrap Drone, Reactor Drone and Augmented Drone — and each one can cough up a vault piece. The weakest sit at 50 HP.

Drones die to melee swings and take one damage per hit, so a bat is the practical tool. The part is a random roll, not a guaranteed drop, so expect to burn through more than one wave before all three land.

Start with the stronger drone variants. Although they require additional hits, they reward considerably more Samples.
Loop between biomes during a wave instead of camping one nest.
A near-empty server means fewer players sniping your targets mid-wave.
Track which parts you already have so you know how many waves are left.
A kill with no drop is normal. Check the 0/3 counter, not the kill count.

Claim the vault and confirm the Scrambler unlocked

Return to the Escaped Experiment in the Abyss Ocean cave with all five pieces and interact with it again to reopen the Stolen Experiment Vault panel.

Check that the panel reads Lost Parts 2/2 and Drone Parts 3/3, with Drone Part 1, 2 and 3 all ticked. The Claim button only becomes active once both counters are full.

Press Claim. You should see a message along the lines of “Vault opened! The Scrambler is unlocked,” and the panel switches to Claimed. That message is the proof the quest registered — without it, a counter was not full.

Open your inventory and inspect the gear slots. The Scrambler should already be there, ready to equip. A pickup found in the world is only part of the process; what matters is the Claim result.

What the Scrambler does

This limited glowing green tool works as a bat. Striking another player sends them backward, making it useful for protecting your own pen or stopping a thief during a run.

Its bat function also makes the Scrambler effective for removing drones throughout the event. Combine it with traps by knocking players into a row of bear traps instead of depending only on the swing.

Samples and Dr. Scramble’s Experiments shop

Drone kills award Samples, the event’s currency. Samples do not count toward the vault, but collecting parts naturally builds your supply. Use them at Dr. Scramble’s Experiments beneath the pet menu.

Both event eggs are limited stock. Once the listed copies are gone on your server, more Samples will not bring them back.

The secret room above the vault cave

Stay after the vault reward appears. Look upward around the place where you talked with the Escaped Experiment to locate a vent built into the wall. Jump through it to reach a small concealed workshop connected to Brockodile, containing a sleeping Brockodile, an Experiment #001 Missing poster about an amphibious axolotl subject, and monitors displaying the game in development.

The Dr. Scramble module is temporary, the egg supply is capped, and the Scrambler is marked as limited. A later update will bring Dr. Scramble back, but no official date has been announced; finish the vault and save your Samples while drones continue spawning.
