The Dr. Scramble event dropped a damaged vault into Steal An Egg, and it will not open until you hand five missing pieces to an NPC hiding in a cave most players run straight past. Two of those pieces sit in the world. The other three only come off the drones invading the map.

Quick answer: Bring the Escaped Experiment in the Abyss Ocean cave 2 Lost Parts and 3 Drone Parts, then hit Claim on the Stolen Experiment Vault screen to unlock the Scrambler.

What the Stolen Experiment Vault needs

The vault tracker splits the five pieces into two categories, and both counters have to be full before the Claim button does anything.

RequirementCountWhere it comes from
Lost Parts2Fixed spots in the biomes
Drone Parts3Dr. Scramble’s drones

Grab the two Lost Parts first. They are always there waiting, while the Drone Parts are on a timer and a drop roll, so you may as well clear the guaranteed half while you wait for the next drone wave.

Find the Escaped Experiment in the Abyss Ocean cave

Travel to the Abyss Ocean biome, which sits between Prehistoric and Volcano. Nothing on the map marks the quest, so you are looking for the terrain itself rather than an icon.
Run along the right-hand wall until you spot a small hole in the blue rock. It is an easy gap to miss at speed, so slow down as you approach the wall.
Head through the opening into the hidden cave. Inside you will find a bunny NPC called the Escaped Experiment standing next to an experiment machine.

Interact with the NPC. The conversation ends with a request for the vault’s missing pieces, and the Stolen Experiment Vault screen opens showing your part counters at 0/2 and 0/3.

Both Lost Part locations

The two world pieces sit in the biomes either side of the Abyss Ocean, which keeps the round trip short.

The Volcano piece is the one people give up on, because it is not on the outside of the volcano. You have to go in. If it still does not appear after you have searched the interior, hop to another server and look again.

Farming the three Drone Parts

Dr. Scramble left three types of floating, round drones behind, and each type can cough up one of the remaining vault pieces. A fresh batch spawns across the map roughly every 30 minutes, appearing near the eggs and around nest spots in biomes such as Titan Temple and the Demons area.

Drones die to melee hits and take one damage per swing, so a Bat is the practical tool for clearing them. The part drop is a roll rather than a guarantee, which means you will likely burn through more than one wave.

  • Keep track of which drone type already gave you a part, then chase the types you are still missing.
  • Tougher drones take more hits but pay out far more Samples, so clear those before the weak ones.
  • A near-empty server cuts down on other players stealing your targets mid-wave.
  • Keep moving between biomes instead of camping one nest.

Every drone you kill also drops Samples, the event currency. They are spent separately at Dr. Scramble’s Experiments and are not needed for the vault, but you collect them by default while chasing parts.

Claim the vault and confirm it worked

With all five pieces in hand, return to the Escaped Experiment in the Abyss Ocean cave and reopen the Stolen Experiment Vault panel. The counters should now read 2/2 Lost Parts and 3/3 Drone Parts, with the Claim button active underneath.

Press Claim. You will get the notification “Vault opened! The Scrambler is unlocked.” and the panel text switches to confirm the unlock. That message is your proof the quest registered — if you do not see it, the counters were not full.

The Scrambler then shows up in your gear slots. Check your inventory and equip it to confirm it landed.

What the Scrambler does

The Scrambler is a glowing green melee tool, and in practice it behaves like a bat. Swing it at another player and it knocks them back, which makes it useful both for defending your own eggs and for interrupting a thief mid-run.

Because it functions as a bat, it doubles as your drone-clearing tool for the rest of the event. It also pairs well with trap setups, letting you knock players into a line of bear traps instead of relying on the swing alone.

The secret room above the vault

Do not leave the cave the second the vault pops. Point your camera up near where you spoke to the Escaped Experiment and you will see a vent set into the wall. Jump into it and you drop into a small hidden workshop tied to Brockodile, packed with references to the game’s development and nods to Sammy, Brockodile and Ben.

The whole Dr. Scramble module is temporary and runs on a limited window, with the event eggs listed as limited stock. Dr. Scramble is set to return in a later update, though no official date for that follow-up has been confirmed, so clear the vault and bank your Samples while the drones are still spawning.
