The Racing Event is a repeating, server-wide competition in Steal An Egg where you ride a pet-themed mount through a three-lap track against other players in your server. It arrived with Update 8 on October 10, 2026, and runs for roughly a week before the Halloween Dimension update replaces it. While it is live, finishing first builds toward exclusive pets, trophies, and an event-only weapon.

Quick answer: A race opens every 30 minutes, usually through a portal in the Abyss Ocean biome. Win it to earn 1 Win and 2,500 Trophies; only first-place finishes count toward unlocking Racers and milestone rewards.

How the Racing Event works and where to find it

A race starts in each server every 30 minutes. You do not queue from a menu. Instead, a portal spawns in a biome, and a server announcement tells you where it is. The portal most often appears in the Abyss Ocean biome, so check that area regularly if you want to catch every race.

The Dr. Scramble and Rift events had ongoing countdowns, but this race does not. Its clock appears just five minutes ahead of the start, so it can slip by while you handle your usual routine. Any Speed level can compete: a brand-new account may race alongside a late-game player.

Each race is three laps against whoever else in your server joins. After you step through the portal, there is roughly a 40 to 50 second waiting window for other players to enter before the race starts.

All six Racers and their win requirements

You ride one of six Racers, each modeled after a different pet. These Racers are purely cosmetic. They do not provide a speed boost or any other advantage during a race, so your choice of mount does not change your odds of winning. You can also equip the matching pets in your Pen, where they behave like regular pets.

Everyone starts with the Ostrich. The other five unlock when you reach the required number of first-place finishes.

Progress toward unlocking the next Racer requires a first-place finish. Coming in second or third does not advance your unlocks, so you need to claim the top position.

Win milestone rewards

Your wins climb a milestone track that caps at 35 wins and then resets, letting you work through it again. Five milestones hand out an exclusive pet egg paired with its matching Racer, and the rest pay out trophies. Each egg guarantees its pet, so you can add the Seahorse, Lizard, Bird, Cheetah, and Citadel Snail to your base without relying on luck. The Citadel Snail is the highest-rarity reward at Eternal.

Racing shop items and trophy costs

Your trophy balance grows no matter where you place, allowing you to save for shop rewards over time. Available items include boosters, the Nitro Mutation consumable, and a weapon exclusive to the event. At 10,000 Trophies, the Racing Bat costs more than any other exclusive item.

ItemCostEffect or Duration
Nitro Mutation475 Trophies10% chance to apply the Nitro mutation to your pets
2x Cash Booster275 TrophiesDoubles cash for 10 minutes
1.25x Speed Booster375 TrophiesIncreases speed 1.25x for 5 minutes
2x Treadmill Booster375 TrophiesDoubles treadmill training for 10 minutes
Racing Bat10,000 TrophiesExclusive event item
2x Trophies299 RobuxDoubles the trophies you earn

Boosters run for just 5 to 10 minutes, whereas the Racing Bat stays permanently, so collectors of event-exclusive gear may want to get the Bat first. Each first-place victory awards 2,500 Trophies, meaning four wins pay for it even before milestone rewards are included. For short-duration boosters, wait until just before an active session—like treadmill training or a hatching run—to buy them and avoid wasting their timer.

How to enter and win a race

Watch the server announcement for the biome where the portal has spawned, then travel there. Since the portal is usually in the Abyss Ocean biome and the timer only appears five minutes out, check that area every half hour so you do not miss the window.
Step through the portal into the racing area. You will wait around 40 to 50 seconds while other players join before the race begins.
Complete all three laps and aim for first place. Run over speed-boost strips for a burst of speed and grab power-ups along the track, which either help you directly or drop obstacles behind you.
Manage the hazards. The track is lined with spikes, eggs that make racers slip, and bombs that stun. Use them to slow opponents when you are catching up, and watch your own path carefully when leading, since a single hit can let someone overtake you on the final lap.

How to confirm your rewards landed

When a race ends, the result screen shows your placement and the trophies awarded. A first-place finish displays “1st place” and increments your Race wins counter by one, along with +2,500 Trophies. Trophies still arrive for lower placements, but the win counter only moves on a first-place result. Once your win total reaches a milestone threshold, claim the reward shown in the event’s Goals tab, and check the Racers tab to equip any newly unlocked mount. The Citadel Snail at 30 wins is the furthest unlock, so the reward track remaining open is the main thing to confirm while the event is still live.
