Subnautica 2 Alien Turbine Repair Guide

Subnautica 2 Alien Turbine Repair Guide

The massive alien turbine sits in the Alien Ruins biome, roughly 1,100 meters east of the Lifepod, directly above an Angel Comb. Repairing it powers the entire zone and unlocks the alien observatory door. The job has two parts: physically rebuilding the damaged propeller section, then aligning the alien control terminals to spin it back up.

Quick answer: Scan the damaged propeller with the Bioscanner, then use the Habitat Builder (not the Repair Tool) with 10 Mangalloy Ingots, 10 Strontium, and 10 Titanium Ingots. Then activate the upper control room terminals.

What you need before starting

The turbine repair sits at the end of a longer progression chain. Skipping any of these prerequisites will leave you swimming back and forth for nothing.

RequirementWhy it matters
Tadpole vehicleSafer travel across the 1,100m stretch east of the Lifepod, which is patrolled by a leviathan.
Bioscanner upgradeRequired to scan the damaged propeller and reveal the repair plan.
Feedback Resonator upgradeNeeded to clear Bloom Cankers from range so you can unlock Axum Vision.
Axum Vision AdaptationLets you read the alien terminals in the control rooms.
Habitat BuilderThe actual tool used to apply the turbine repair materials.
ProcessorAll three repair materials are processed, not raw.

The Bioscanner upgrade is found inside a wreck above the alien control area, accessed through a small round tube near the top of the structure on the opposite side from the main entrance.

Unlock Axum Vision at the Angel Comb

The Angel Comb sits directly under the broken turbine in the open area past the abandoned base. Its purple tendrils branch out toward corrupted nodules called Bloom Cankers, which contract when you swim too close. The Feedback Resonator fires sonic projectiles that destroy them from a safe distance.

Step 1: Follow the purple tendrils from the Angel Comb. One branch splits into two paths, one along a ravine and one into a cavern below the Alien Ruins base. Clear the Bloom Cankers in both.

Step 2: Follow the other tendril branch toward the Metal Farms, the green-glowing pool area. Swim up to the plateaus and locate the Cicada Wreck (Stairway to Heaven). Break the bloom web, enter the ship, and clear the Bloom Cankers in the cavern below. Oxygen Tunics inside the wreck keep your air supply manageable.

Step 3: Return to the Angel Comb and destroy the final two Bloom Cankers wrapped around it. Interact with the exposed pink bulb to gain the Axum Vision Adaptation.

Lower the turbine and scan the damage

With Axum Vision active, the alien terminals along the cliffs become readable. Two control rooms sit on the cliffside: a lower one and a higher one. You need the lower one first.

Step 1: Enter the lower control room and press the button on the terminal. This lowers the turbine structure so you can reach the damaged section.

Step 2: Swim up to the propellers. Look for the metal crates left behind by colonists nearby. Pick up the databank entry titled Turbine Repair Plan.

Step 3: Equip the Bioscanner and scan the damaged propeller section. The repair requirements will populate in your databank.

Note: Despite the name, the Repair Tool does not fix the alien turbine. Use the Habitat Builder to see the materials prompt and apply the repair.

Materials for the turbine repair

Every material is processed at a Processor, so factor in the raw resource cost on top of the finished totals.

Processed materialAmountRaw resources required
Titanium Ingot1030 Titanium
Strontium1020 Celestine
Mangalloy Ingot1010 Titanium Ingots, 10 Atacamites, 10 Troilites

Atacamites appear as dark crystal nodes scattered along the seabed inside the Alien Ruins biome. Troilites are dark green minerals near the Metal Farms pool. Celestine is also found around the Alien Ruins region.

If Troilite supplies run thin, the Metal Farm structure itself can duplicate placed materials. Drop a single Troilite into the farm, wait for it to replicate, then break the finished product with the Sonic Resonator to collect it.

Counting everything, the full raw shopping list comes to roughly 40 Titanium, 20 Celestine, 10 Atacamites, and 10 Troilites, plus the Mangalloy chain that consumes 10 of those Titanium Ingots a second time.

Apply the repair and activate the turbine

Once you have the materials, return to the damaged propeller with the Habitat Builder equipped and complete the repair. The propeller will visibly mend, but the turbine still needs power routed through the upper control room before it spins.

Step 1: Swim up to the higher control room on the cliffside. You'll see two side terminals with rotating dials and symbols, plus a central terminal facing the turbine.

Step 2: Interact with each switch on the left and right terminals. Rotate until the symbols line up with the arrow markers. Correct alignment turns the symbols green.

Step 3: Press the claw-shaped switch on each side terminal to activate them. Then move to the central terminal and press its switch to send power through the system.

The turbine will spin up, and the entire zone lights up. That's your confirmation that the repair worked. The observatory door, previously inert, now responds to the bloom pedestal lever inside.

What activating the turbine unlocks

Powering the turbine opens access to the alien observatory. Inside, a bloom pedestal lever lets you enter the inner chamber, where you can scan an orrery and trigger a hologram by pulling a second lever further in. The hologram introduces Xanadu, a region across the Great Trench, and warns of creatures called Crypters in the depths below.

This sequence currently caps the main story content available in early access. New biomes, tools, and story beats are planned in future updates, so the trail picks up again once Unknown Worlds rolls out the next content drop. No official date for that update is currently confirmed.

If the turbine still refuses to spin after a clean repair and terminal sequence, double-check that all dials on both side terminals show green, that the claw switches on both sides were pressed before the central one, and that the propeller scan registered before you built the repair. Missing any of those is the most common reason the power doesn't transfer.
