Terraria: How to Get the Magic Quiver

Farm Skeleton Archers in the Cavern layer for the 1.25% drop that boosts every arrow you fire.

The Magic Quiver is a ranged accessory that strengthens every bow, repeater, and Stake Launcher you use. It drops from Skeleton Archers, a Hardmode enemy, so you cannot obtain it until you have defeated the Wall of Flesh and pushed your world into Hardmode.

Quick answer: Enter Hardmode, go to the Underground or Cavern layer, and kill Skeleton Archers until one drops the Magic Quiver. The drop rate is 1.25% per kill.

Where the Magic Quiver drops

Only Skeleton Archers drop the Magic Quiver. They begin spawning in the Underground and Cavern layers after Hardmode starts, and they appear across almost every biome underground. They move slowly but fire flaming arrows the moment you enter their line of sight, so distance alone will not keep you safe.

The same enemy can also drop the Marrow, a strong early-Hardmode bow. Marrow has a lower drop chance than the Magic Quiver, so a long farming session will often hand you both.

Farm Skeleton Archers faster

Because the drop is rare, expect to kill a lot of archers. The cleanest approach is to combine the hunt with other early-Hardmode goals rather than grinding in one spot.

Smash at least three Demon Altars with the Pwnhammer from the Wall of Flesh. This seeds your world with Hardmode ores such as Cobalt or Palladium, Mythril or Orichalcum, and Adamantite or Titanium.
Explore the Underground and Cavern layers to mine those ores while looking for archers. The new armor and weapons you craft make Skeleton Archers far easier to kill and smooth out the rest of Hardmode.
Once your gear feels solid, raise the enemy spawn rate. Place a Water Candle and drink a Battle Potion in the caves so archers appear more often and the farming goes quicker.
If you only want the Quiver, build a lava trap. Flatten a wide underground area, lay a thin layer of lava across the floor, and stand on a safe platform in the middle. Enemies that walk across burn to death, and dropped items survive the lava even though coins do not.

Tip: A Depth Meter, Cell Phone, PDA, or Goblin Tech shows your current depth. The Cavern layer usually begins around 500 blocks down, though on larger worlds it can start closer to 700.

What the Magic Quiver does when equipped

The Magic Quiver is an accessory, so it must sit in an active accessory slot, not a vanity slot, to work. The extra slot from the Demon Heart the Wall of Flesh drops is a good place for it. Once equipped, it boosts arrows and Stakes.

  • +10% arrow and Stake damage
  • +10% knockback
  • +100% velocity
  • +20% chance not to consume the ammo

Jester’s Arrows, Ichor Arrows, Venom Arrows, and Stakes do not gain the velocity bonus. They still receive the damage, knockback, and ammo-saving effects. You can confirm the accessory is active by comparing damage on a training dummy. A Marrow bow with Wooden Arrows deals roughly 60 to 65 per hit with the Quiver equipped and about 47 to 50 without it.

Upgrade the Magic Quiver at a Tinkerer’s Workshop

The Magic Quiver will not last the whole game, but it upgrades easily and both upgrades keep all of its base effects. Craft either one at a Tinkerer’s Workshop.

Molten QuiverMagic Quiver + Magma StoneTurns Wooden Arrows into Flaming Arrows; pair with an Endless Quiver for infinite Flaming Arrows
Stalker’s QuiverMagic Quiver + Putrid ScentMakes enemies target you less

If you play solo, the Molten Quiver’s automatic Flaming Arrows are the stronger pick. If you play with others, the Stalker’s Quiver lets you hang back and fire while allies draw enemy attention, which is usually worth more than a little extra damage.

The Magic Quiver is one of the first meaningful ranged upgrades in Hardmode, and getting it early keeps bows competitive while you build toward better gear. Farm archers alongside your ore hunt, equip the Quiver in an active slot, and craft it into the Molten or Stalker’s version once you have the parts.
