Terraria: How to Get the Master Ninja Gear

The exact components, drop sources, and crafting station you need to combine dashing, wall-climbing, and a 10 percent dodge into one accessory.

The exact components, drop sources, and crafting station you need to combine dashing, wall-climbing, and a 10 percent dodge into one accessory.

The Master Ninja Gear folds three separate mobility accessories into a single slot, giving you wall climbing, a short dash, and a chance to shrug off enemy hits. It only becomes available deep into Hardmode, and every piece of the recipe traces back to a single rare foe that appears once you have beaten Plantera.

Quick answer: Combine a Tabi, a Black Belt, and a Tiger Climbing Gear at a Tinkerer’s Workshop. The Tabi and Black Belt both drop from Bone Lee in the Dungeon after Plantera is defeated.

What you need to craft the Master Ninja Gear

The final recipe uses three ingredients and one crafting station. Two of those ingredients are direct enemy drops, and the third is itself a crafted item. Here is everything that goes into it.

TabiDrops from Bone Lee in the Dungeon (post-Plantera)
Black BeltDrops from Bone Lee in the Dungeon (post-Plantera)

Get the Tabi and Black Belt from Bone Lee

Bone Lee is a rare enemy that only spawns in the Dungeon after you have defeated Plantera. He carries both the Tabi and the Black Belt, so a single farming session can hand you two of the three pieces you need.

Defeat Plantera to unlock the tougher post-Plantera Dungeon enemy pool. Bone Lee cannot appear before this fight is finished.
Return to the Dungeon and clear enemies until Bone Lee spawns. He is uncommon, so expect to spend time thinning out the room to keep new enemies rolling.
Kill Bone Lee and collect the Tabi and Black Belt. Both are separate drops, so keep farming him until you have secured each one.

Tip: If you play alongside others, trading for a spare Tabi, Black Belt, or a finished Master Ninja Gear is a valid shortcut that skips the drop grind entirely.

Craft the Tiger Climbing Gear

The third ingredient does not drop from a boss. You build the Tiger Climbing Gear yourself from two earlier accessories, both of which you can pick up well before Hardmode.

ComponentWhere it comes from
Climbing ClawsChests, Wooden Crates, Pearlwood Crates, or the Skeleton Merchant
Shoe SpikesGold Chests
Get a pair of Climbing Claws from a chest, a crate opened while fishing, or by buying them from the Skeleton Merchant when he shows up.
Find Shoe Spikes inside a Gold Chest. These commonly turn up in the underground Cavern layer.

Combine everything at the Tinkerer’s Workshop

With the Tabi, Black Belt, and Tiger Climbing Gear in your inventory, stand near a Tinkerer’s Workshop. The Master Ninja Gear will appear in the crafting menu once all three are present.

The Tinkerer’s Workshop is sold by the Goblin Tinkerer, who moves in after you rescue him from the Underground. If you have crafted the Tiger Climbing Gear already, you have used this station before. Craft the item, and the three components are consumed and replaced by the finished accessory.

You know it worked when a single Master Ninja Gear sits in your inventory, carrying the tooltip that it lets you climb walls, dash, and dodge attacks.

What the Master Ninja Gear does

Equipping it in an accessory slot grants the combined effects of all three ingredients at once. You can cling to and slide down vertical walls, dash a short distance by double-tapping the left or right movement key, and gain a fixed chance to automatically dodge incoming attacks.

  • The dodge chance is 1 in 10 (10 percent) and does not stack with a separately equipped Black Belt.
  • There is a one-second cooldown between dashes.
  • The dash reaches about twice the distance of the Shield of Cthulhu, but it does not ram enemies. Colliding with a foe mid-dash damages you instead.
  • Pairing the dash with Hermes Boots or another sprinting accessory instantly brings you up to full sprint speed.

It sits at Yellow rarity, sells for 10 gold coins, and requires only one to complete Journey Mode research. The accessory is a mainstay for movement-focused loadouts because it frees up slots that would otherwise be spent on separate climbing and dashing items, while adding a survivability layer on top through the dodge.
