The Blood of Dawnwalker: All Ambrus’s Transports Quests

Where to find Bloody Business and Roadside Surprise, how to clear both, and what Klaus the Brave changes.

Where to find Bloody Business and Roadside Surprise, how to clear both, and what Klaus the Brave changes.

Ambrus’s Transports are the two Blood Transport Court Activities tied to the vampire boyar Ambrus, and they are among the earliest things you can hit once the Prologue ends. Both are short combat encounters rather than sprawling quests, and both push Ambrus’s Anger meter closer to the point where his boss quest unlocks.

Quick answer: Clear Ambrus’s Transports: Bloody Business near South Rock by killing the escort and looting the leader Uriash for his note, then clear Ambrus’s Transports: Roadside Surprise at Brior Slough by killing the guards and interacting with the highlighted barrels. Each costs 3 time segments.

Ambrus’s Transports quest list and locations

There are only two entries under the Blood Transports category, and they sit at opposite ends of the difficulty curve for a Level 1+ Ambrus region — which is to say, neither is hard. What separates them is the completion trigger. One ends on a loot pickup, the other ends on a world interaction.

ActivityLocationCompletion triggerTime cost
Ambrus’s Transports: Bloody BusinessNear South RockDefeat the escort, then loot the leader’s body for the note3 time segments
Ambrus’s Transports: Roadside SurpriseBrior SloughDefeat the guards, then interact with the barrels to destroy them3 time segments

Neither activity is pinned on your map from the start. Court Activities show up as “Unknown Activity” until you physically discover them in the world, so the fastest way to surface both is to synchronize the region’s Towers early. Nearby activities then appear as white question marks you can track from the map screen.

How to complete Bloody Business

Open the map and track “Ambrus’s Transports: Bloody Business” near South Rock. The objective marker reads “Intercept the transport,” and it moves, because the convoy is walking a route rather than sitting in a camp.
Follow the snowy path down toward the marker and engage Ambrus’s soldiers escorting the blood barrels. This is a straight fight — there is no stealth requirement and no timer on the encounter itself.
Loot the bodies, and specifically loot Uriash, the leader. His body holds the text note the activity requires, along with pickups like the Sharp Eye Manual, a Letter of Reprimand, and the Plain Armour of Ambrus’s Soldier. Skipping the leader’s corpse is the single most common reason this one refuses to close out.

The note itself is a reprimand from Bardil aimed at the escort. Reading it is not required, but picking it up is — the quest state only advances once the leader’s inventory has been taken.

How to complete Roadside Surprise

Track “Ambrus’s Transports: Roadside Surprise” from the map. The activity sits at Brior Slough, and the objective opens with “Defeat the guards.”

Approach the camp and clear the guards. Doing this at night is the easier route, since Coen’s vampire mobility is active and you can open with a stealth bite to remove one enemy before the rest notice you. Fighting them head-on in daylight works fine too.

Once the camp is clear, the objective flips to “Check the barrels.” Walk up to the barrels highlighted in yellow and use the Destroy prompt.

A cutscene plays and reveals Klaus the Brave hiding inside one of the barrels. He is not an enemy, and the fight does not restart — talk to him instead.
Work through the dialogue and talk Klaus out of his infiltration plan. Convincing him to lay low is the outcome that resolves the encounter cleanly rather than sending him off toward Ambrus’s people.

Sweep the camp for the remaining loot before you leave. The pile here includes a Weathered Longsword, Pendant of Vashni’s Swiftness, a Letter from Ambrus, Strong Spirits, Linseed Oil, and Uriashi Smoked Cheese, among other odds and ends.

How to confirm both activities registered

Completion is easy to verify without guesswork. The tracked objective clears from your journal, the map marker disappears, and the in-game clock advances by 3 time segments for each activity. Open the Court menu afterwards and check Ambrus’s portrait — his Anger level should have ticked up.

If an activity is still sitting open, there are only two realistic causes. For Bloody Business, you cleared the escort but never looted Uriash’s body for the note. For Roadside Surprise, you killed the guards but never interacted with the highlighted barrels, which is the actual completion trigger — walking past them and leaving the camp does nothing.

Where the Transports fit in Ambrus’s Court Activities

Ambrus has 14 Court Activities in total, spread across Blood Transports, the Prisoner Processing Camp, Leech Collectors, Prisoner Transports, Blood Cellars, and Ambrus’s Dungeons. You do not need all of them. Clearing roughly 75% of his operations pushes his Anger high enough to unlock The Gilded Gauntlet, his main quest, in southern Maragir.

The two Transports are worth doing early because they are low-level, close together in the campaign’s opening stretch, and reward useful early gear. That said, they cost 3 time segments each. If you are already close to Ambrus’s Anger threshold and want to spend as little of your 30 in-game days as possible, his Blood Cellars activities — Seeing Red, Uninvited, and Trouble Brewing — only cost 1 time segment apiece and are the more efficient way to top up the meter.

Note: Court Activities stay available after you beat the boss they feed into, so nothing here becomes permanently missable once Ambrus goes down. Keeping a manual save before each boss fight still makes sense if you want to come back and mop up side content later.
